I first found Ed back when he was at Sola Salon on Market Street. I actually had a non-barber appointment with someone else in the space; Ed was closed at the time, but after seeing his setup, I grabbed his card. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made for my hair. I've been a loyal client since July 2022, and he is now my go-to for every major milestone--date nights with my wife, interviews, photoshoots, and holidays. Ed isn't just a barber; he's an artist and a partner. While some barbers just mindlessly follow instructions, Ed starts every session with a conversation. He offers suggestions on what will actually look good on you, and he has never steered me wrong. Regarding the investment: you get what you pay for. Think of it like footwear--you can buy cheap boots you have to replace every year, or you can invest in a pair of well-made leather boots that last twenty years. Ed is the high-end boots. If I'm not wearing a hat when I leave his shop, there's a 50/50 shot I'll get a compliment from a complete stranger before I hit the corner. His setup is top-tier: TV, refreshments, post-cut colognes, and the fantastic hot scented towels. While I'm holding out hope he gets a shampoo bowl back in his new spot, the current experience is still second to none. Plus, he uses Booksy, which makes scheduling precise and easy.
