My review is related to the Keratin treatment that I got . The salon itself is lovely and warm, all of the ladies seem very nice. Few of my friends recommend me to get this done since I keep complaining of how bad my hair got ruined after bleaching it. Right after the treatment my hair looked fabulous, like Japanese hair;) straight, flawless and glowy. They told me to allow 48 hours with no heavy sweat or washing my hair. So I did. Unfortunately the affect didn't last longer then 3 days, I ended up washing it only after 4 days and now its completely back to normal (dry, wild and freezy ) as if I haven't gotten anything done. All my friends say that the strong affect should last for at lease a week and afterwards for couple of month. I would not pay over 200$ for this treatment. I don't know which materials they use but unfortunately it doesn't last read more

Sadly, my search for a new hair salon continues. Based on a recommendation, I gave Coif a whirl. It is a cute little salon in a converted cottage-y house on the trendier part of Tujunga (right next door to Aroma). The staff is friendly and Cindy (the owner) is really sweet. She asked me how I wanted my hair cut and seemed to have a good idea of my vision. Unfortunately, the end result just wasn't my style. Some of the layers were sooo short, that it was hard to tame for weeks! My cut looked a little older than I would have liked.... I'm still under thirty and want to make sure I keep looking like it! They do sell some pretty good products, like Batiste Dry Shampoo, which is essential to every girl's gym bag and/or beauty product collection. read more

Zero stars. Referred by a friend; stylist was Lia. Over $200!!! Very disappointed- I will not be going back. Cut: I had to cut off a two-inch long section the next morning because it was uneven! I have never had to do that, even with more affordable/chain salons. Color: Multiple people asked me if I was in a pool over the weekend. I am naturally blonde, so we know what that means? So I was finally privileged enough to have Ahou work on my hair after I had met her the first time with my baby. This time, she helped create a fabulous up-do that was perfect for the occasion. She was so kind to let me squeeze in without an appointment just hours before I needed my hair done. She did a FABULOUS job. I got so many compliments on my hair! Ahou is a perfectionist and that's exactly what you want in a stylist! She helped tame the stubborn strands and patiently re-did a few pins until it was just right. Ahou is also very knowledgeable. She was telling me about what she had learned about different kinds of keratin hair treatments and which is the best kind. She also gave me so many useful tips like how sleeping on a silk pillow helps prevent damage to my hair (who knew?). She told me how to set curls most effectively and so much more. If you're like me and haven't ever found the right salon and right stylist after years and years of trying different places and people...you'll be happy like me! These 5 stars are for Melody and the amazing hair treatment she gave me. I used to have my hair straightened with the Japanese Yuko system and then I tried the Brazilian blow out (thinking it would be less time consuming). My final issue with both of those methods is that it left my hair TOO straight and TOO flat, not to mention the controversy over the chemical exposure, the time factor, and the cost. This straightening treatment comes in a couple of different strengths to allow some choice about how straight you want your hair to be. The process was faster than the Brazilian blow out and the Yuko system, less smelly, less $$, and the result is soft, frizz free hair that still has plenty of body. Actually, it was still a little straighter than I wanted initially, but after the first couple of shampoos, I'm very satisfied with the result. It's been a couple of months and I'm still loving it! without question, I'll return for this treatment again. read more

If I could give SUB ZERO rating here I would. After meeting me and looking at photos of the color of hair I wanted highlighted, Cindy Wright told me it was no problem and could definitely give me the results what I wanted. She kept me waiting over 1 hr for my appt that was set and for the next 4 HOURS (should have been a 2 hr process), proceeded to I feel, almost destroy my long hair! Her station table was not clean, the hair on the floor from a previous client was not swept up, she use a brush previously that was set out on a back tray and did not look like it was sanitized. Kept me under a hair dryer-heater that was much too hot and my scalp was burning and took her time to turn on fans in the room to cool down after I HAD TO ASK HER TO TURN THEM ON to prevent me from getting over heated. She seemed to have no concern for my comfort. Her BLEACH JOB FOR THE HIGHLIGHTS turned out BLOTCHY - uneven lift and when she tried to lowlight-color correct, she did NOT wash -rinse the residual color out. She use some spray that left my hair sticky and used a damp cloth and pulled hard on my hair to get the residual color off. ANY hair especially bleached is more fragile and prone to break when wet and she was tugging on it hard. Cindy also reacted very nasty, angry when I pointed out that she bleached an area of my head I asked her not to and that it was blotchy. I was very explicit as to where I wanted the highlights but she blamed ME with what i felt was an intimidating attitude that I felt very uncomfortable with. I could hardly wait to get out of there. She did NOT use any heat protector or extra conditioner that is done when bleaching hair especially before dry blowing. Since my hair is naturally curly, unless it's totally dry, used with product, it tends to frizz. She started suddenly to snip into my top layer with a scissors saying she was trying to cut away some of the damaged hair on top. I told her to stop since it would make my top layer look frayed and I didn't approve of any cutting of my hair ESPECIALLY when she was doing a "razor" method (which you do NOT do on fine, naturally curly hair!) I was sent home with frizzy, sticky, stiff hair. My hair was a colored mess. I had to go to another colorist to correct what i call botch job and condition my hair more. Thank goodness I had a good home conditioner that helped, but my hair has endured considerable damage and my scalp remained red and tender for a couple days. I not only did NOT get the highlights in the color that she said she could do, but felt traumatized, incurred damaged hair in the process and further extra costs to try and fix what she did. It was a nightmare for me! read more

I want to like this place, I really do. It's right in my neighborhood in a charming little garden house setting. The girls who work there are really nice too. However, after getting a Keratin Straightening Treatment ($150), my hair was still very frizzy. I gave it a couple weeks to see if there was any improvement after a few sulfate free washings. No better after that. So, I called the owner of the salon, Cindy, and left her a message explaining the situation. She didn't return my call, so a couple days later I stopped in to the salon. Cindy wasn't in, so I left a second message with the front desk, who seemed surprised that no one had gotten in touch with me. It's been weeks and still, crickets. No phone call back. Nothing. This tells me that Coif doesn't stand behind its services, or worse, they do not care about their clients satisfaction at all. read more

Cindy is amazing! She turned my light blonde hair into dark brown and it looks so natural and fantastic. This unassuming cottage style salon has in it a host of very talented stylists. I go to Cindy, the owner, who nursed my hair back to health in a very short time from poor conditions created at other salons. The vibe is very relaxed and casual, however every time I go, I am (not) noticing the many celebrities sitting next to me. I started going there when I wanted to continue to have a great hair cut and coloring, without going to the westside and dealing with all the fancy salon "drama." Years later, my entire family comes to Cindy, including my husband. Cindy is so talented, that I actually enjoy watching her transform other clients color and style while I am there. I love Coif 2! The shop itself is adorable, a little cottage on one of the most charming streets in LA right next to the fabulous and lively Aroma Cafe. I have been a working actress living in LA for over thirty years and have tried many stylists, including the $200-a-haircut-stylist-to-the-stars types found in Beverly Hills. Cindy Wright, the owner of Coif 2 has been doing my hair for that last two years or so and now that I have found her I would never want to go to anyone else. She is a warm and wonderful lady with no "diva" attitude. And trust me, she does the hair of enough Hollywood types, that she could have "attitude" if she wanted to. I'm not from here and so when my daughter needed a keritain blowout, I was very happy I found Ahou, she came in on her day off and worked on my daughter thick LONG hair for hours- we finally got doen at ten, I had no idea it had taken so long- her heair was such a mess but Ahou kept at it all the while being friendly and genuine. I'm pretty sure I under tipped, but not being from LA, it was a lot to me. She's a doll and if you don't know a real way to care for long curly unruly hair talk to Ahou, she'll get you on the right path. She also gave us the 411 on what to do to make this pricey treatment last. Very happy with results now though. Rare when you spend -what you consider a lot of money on something and you have no regrets. My daughter can now get ready for audtions or school in one tenth the time and it looks ten times better. this place has the biggest turnover! just when you find someone you really like, they leave. the owner acts so sweet but when i mentioned to the girls that the owner seems sweet, i did notice that not a single person said a word. they didn't agree or disagree. that should have been my first clue. i have lost three hairdressers that i love and now the sweet receptionist and my manicurist are gone!! i am done with this place. i am going to find my manicurist and never go back. also, the eyelash girl left too! all this in the last week. sounds like the owner went over the edge? oh, and i have since heard that the owner is a wack! she is the reason the girls keep leaving. read more
