Neighborhood pool. My kids can swim here for a few dollars. They have a great time. Indoor pool and showers. Kept clean.

This is a well cared for swimming pool. Great place for lap swimming. You must check the schedule as they use the pool for many different activities. The location next to McLaren Park is both good and bad. There is plenty of parking along Visitacion Ave - but is could be a little risky for break-ins. read more

#108/2016 I would've given this pool a 5-star review but its new rule effective September 3rd that parents aren't allowed in the pool room has me a little mystified. The parents who were there today including me were very respectful and quiet, taking our places on benches fifteen feet from the pool. There weren't very many of us (maybe 5?) so we couldn't be distracting. We removed our shoes before entering the pool room as the signage stipulates; I don't get it what the issue is. I may have to push back against this silly new rule; I don't like it. My little boy's teacher, Jasmine, also teaches at the North Beach pool where we'd taken a semester of lessons so we knew her slightly. Jasmine was very gentle and listened carefully and gave lots of good feedback, instruction and praise. My little boy not only tried harder to execute the strokes perfectly but positively glowed after he got out of the pool: he was so proud of his efforts. And, thanks to another great program from Parks & Rec, we can take advantage of private one-on-one swim lessons that would otherwise be completely unaffordable. read more

This review is for the safety of the area where this pool is located at. If you come here to swim then don't drive here. Take the bus. My car got broken into on Hanh St which is where I parked. When I finished swimming I found out that my rear window was broken into and my personal belongings were stolen. There's no security cameras in the pool building and the front staff doesn't even care that my car got broken into while swimming in their pool. All this took less than 1 hour! Watch out ! I will never come back here again. read more

Came for lap swim. The pool and facility were relatively clean. It wasn't too packed and I didn't have to work too hard to avoid anyone. It's 6 dollars per adult but depending on who is at the desk, the rate seems flexible (I guess this is to encourage people to use it and to allow wider access to all of the city's residents). read more

Clean swimming pool with a family change room with lockers. No hot tubs and no saunas. We went on a Saturday and it was our first time so the staff waived our entrance fee. Lots of kids and they have lots of floatation toys for kids such as balls and noodles. Nice staff members who are attentive. No WiFi. Limited seating if you're just watching. No food machines. Kids playground right outside. Be attentive of your car because it's right by the low income housing district. read more

I'm on a swim team, so I have my fair share of experience with other swimming pools around the city. I've been swimming here since the "old" Coffman, before they remodeled into this piece of treasure. Now, it remains one of San Francisco's hidden gems. I've swam at many of the city's other remodeled pools, and none of which are as well kept as Coffman. That's because, not a lot of people come or even know about Coffman pool in this part of town. The chlorine levels are moderate, not so much that you will taste it, but not so little that you will feel unsanitary. It's just right. At other pools, *cough* Sava Pool *cough*, the chlorine levels are insane, but that's probably because they receive much more traffic then this quiet sanctuary. As of this post, I believe it is one of the only pools in the city with all, fully functional showers. Other newly remodeled pools, can't even keep up with the cleanliness and little maintenance that Coffman needs/has. The only problem I see is that there hasn't been a "stable" staff of lifeguards at Coffman (continue reading for my full explanation). Every year when I return, there is a new roster of lifeguards, many of which I've never met before. At other pools, it's usually the same lifeguards so I've gotten to know a few. But at Coffman, it's always a different set of staff members. I'm not sure if this is because of Coffman's low population of swimmers, or if it was an executive decision from the higher up, but it's definitely not a regular thing at other pools. The only one I know who has been there the longest, is Angela, and she's the best. One of the most friendliest lifeguards you'll ever meet in the city. As for Karla F's review (the only bad review here..), I would take it with a grain of salt. I volunteer at the pool every summer, teaching kids how to swim and never did I ever have a problem with parents. If a parent is unsatisfied, a lifeguard will personally teach the child (the best lessons you can get for your money), rather than letting the volunteers take over. I've seen numerous kids, under my instruction, graduate the 5 levels of Red Cross swimming certification and many return the following summer to become my teaching aides. For the money, I think public pools are the best place to get swim lessons. Overall, this pool is a nice quiet area that not many San Franciscans know about. Yet, once they step foot into the pool, they'll understand what I'm raving about. read more

This was the pool that I had gone to when taking swimming classes at CCSF. This was years ago before CCSF did their remodel. Remodeled facility located right by the hood (sunnydale Projects)! Basically Coffman kept the old pool skeleton and remodeled everything else. New improved bathrooms and showers, lockers, Entry, etc. The length of the pool is 100 ft or 33 and a third yard like other city pools such as Rossi or Garfield. Coffman Has the UV system installed so it doesn't use as much Chlorine as other city pools. Its also a bit loud during recreation swim but what pool isn't. read more

Olympic sized swimming pool. Lanes and overall length seems to be longer than any of the other pools in San Francisco. The locker rooms are small. Just ok. It dos have a dryer for wet swim trunks though! Its located near the Sunnydale Projects. The only thing I like about this pool is the length of the pool. read more

This is a fairly new facility, maybe 2 years old. Its clean, nice & the staff is friendly. . There are tons of street parking but the water is always cold. They have swimming lessons for toddlers on saturday mornings. They have floating devices & toys for the kids to use. read more

San Francisco has so many clean, spacious and accessible pools. This is one of my favorites. Fairly easy parking, and inexpensive. There's a great deep water fitness class on Saturday mornings. read more

This pool is run by a committed team who are kind, helpful and quick to act on issues. This is a special secret gem of a pool I'm reluctant to share but everyone should have a chance to enjoy it. The pool is clean, nice wide lanes, people are respectful and redirected by staff when needed. The changing rooms and showers are all in good working order. The light streaming in is particularly unique and makes the place feel like a spa. Enjoy! read more

OK...so can we all agree that Gavin Newsom has turned San Francisco into a full-on Monet? It's so pretty from far away but up close it's a big mess!!!! Coffman pool is a perfect example of this. Newly remodeled, Coffman is a pretty, pretty pool!!! But, there is no one working the front desk on most days. There is no person at the front desk because the receptionist is the lifeguard is the janitor is the swim teacher. So, ANY fool off the streets of Sunnydale can walk on in and make himself/herself at home while your precious little one is getting yelled at by the receptionist/lifeguard/janitor/swim teacher YES!!!! I said yelled at!! My daughter came out of her last swimming lesson in TEARS. The punk ass swim teacher yelled at her during the lesson and my 7 year old was in the pool crying. I made her come out and tell me what the hell as going on. She was so choked up and her feelings were so hurt! I guess that prick didn't understand that SF Park and Rec swimming lessons are NOT free. Hell, I paid about $80.00 for those lessons. Maybe he thought he was doing my child a favor by yelling at her. Maybe he thought that her mama was waiting out in the car . NO FOOL!!! Her mama was sitting right there and got all up in your face!! Bet you won't be yelling at anyone else's child! Well, obviously my daughter won't be returning to Coffman for swim lessons. Unfortunately, I figure that I'll have to chalk that one up to the number of citywide disasters I have experienced due to Gavin's mismanagement. As I see it; the City should be cutting me a nice-sized check soon! More likely, Gavin will probably send me a bill for the up close viewing of his Monet exhibit. read more

I have been going to coffman pool for about 10 years now. But now it is so much better since it has been remodeled. The water at times is a bit cold but besides that it is a great swimming pool. Hopefully, a lot of people won't find out about it since it is not packed like other pools in the bay area. Al and the staff are great! read more

Please stay away from this place!!! A few years back, i used to swim here all the time for recreation. It was a beautiful place to be. you could smell the freshly bleached locker rooms. It was the most hygienic pool in the city in my opinion. a few days ago. i went here for their recreation time. and i don't know WHAT happened. I guess the place is under new management because it's filthy, disgusting. There's white residue and sand all over the floor. There's trash on the locker room floor. and the water is foggy and tastes really salty and lacks chlorine. I don't know what happened. It's just so disgusting here. When i used to swim. the whole pool was empty for recreation time. Now there's like this grid of the colorful ropes they use to separate sections of the pool. You can't swim 5 feet before hitting a rope. it's ridiculous. I'm gonna go somewhere else and i suggest you do the same. read more

I took swimming lessons from here when I was really young but I can't recall much, as I struggled over the years in pools. My mom was the one who actually taught me how to float, so I could barely survive. But anyway, yesterday I came back here for the first time in years, since I was a child. And this place looks great. I love the remodeling. This place is super clean. And for rec swim, they don't jam pack all the kids into one small side of the pool like other places. Here they separate 3 parts of the pool. So that much smaller children can stay in the shallower part, and average size children have space to swim in the middle part of the pool, and of course you're left with the deeper end for more advanced swimmers. And with the exception of one not so friendly female lifeguard another lifeguard was kind enough to teach me how to tread. Unlike everyone else, who had been trying to each me, he didn't just say "Hey watch me and copy me!" He broke it down really well. It's still all very new to me, but I feel like I'm actually making genuine progress. I imagine that the lessons offered here are taught well. And I'm glad I can somewhat redeem myself here now. I have been swimming at Coffman pool for over a month before I decide to write a review. This pool is the best pool I have seen so far in San Francisco. I have been to the Sava pool, not good, why? The water is always so cold and the staffs most the time open the window which makes the water more colder. Moreover, the staffs don't look that friendly like staffs at Coffman pool, they alway look serious especially the choppy female who always yell and scream when there is a child comes close to the bother line of the deep water. I know that is her job but sometime I think it not necessary when the child knows how to swimming and also, she yells loud and look REALLY MEAN. Lastly, the showers in the female are all small except the shower for person with disability. Only a few showers and they small and water run out very little so it takes long time to clean all the soap and so every time I have to wait for a while and get really cold , I don't recommend to this pool unless no choice. Balboa pool is supper old, can't even take shower after swimming. Water is cold. All the staffs are nice except one female with the short hair( like man style), my daughter knows how to do all swimming styles , she comes to all swimming pools and she passes all pools except the Balboa pool. The lady with man style she said my daughter not pass the test because she thinks my daughter has a hard time to breath while the Coach of the Shark team has seen and invited my daughter to join the team( my daughter must pass in his eyes before he asks her to join if I'm not wrong) , disappointed , my daughter gave up the invitation and stop going to swimming pool until I went to Coffman and show her the friendly staffs and perfect temperature water, clean place especially the shower after , no need to wait for a while and the most important is she passes the test, feel confident more and be able to go lap swim after school. Rossi pool is a bit better than Balboa, but it is also old pool. Over all, Coffman pool is the best pool of San Francis so far I have seen. Same friendly staffs, they smile and talk nice to you every time, never miss. I never have to take long time to clean all the soap like other pools. I feel comfortable like home when I come to Coffman pool. Thx to all the staffs. Hope all the pools change like Coffman so that people feel easy and want to go swimming more without hesitate. read more

This place is amazing it's just the neighborhood on the day me and my mom went, we went on the bus so on the way back we got on the bus and for the nexts stop these kids were throwing water ballons at the bus when the driver opened the door a whole bunch of kids threw water ballons at him and since I was sorta at the front I also got wet there was also this girl with gallon of water and one of the bus windows were open and the girl poured the whole gallon on a lady sitting Down than the police came but they didn't really do much and also while other cars were passing through some of them had there windows open and they also threw water ballons at them than at some point cane the other bus everyone from the first bus got off and went to the second bus I would love to go back to this pool again i just don't like the neighborhood I even read another review on this neighborhood stating that someone got there car broken into and got some of there belongings stolen read more
