This is one of three Coffeelovers at Plein 1992 and for some reason, the other ones were pretty crowded on this tuesday afternoon. Here we were easily able to get a table, which is somewhat surprising, because this is the only Coffeelovers with table service. The views may not be as nice, but we found a cosy corner with some sunlight and enjoyed some coffee and cake. I liked my carrot cake, but beware of raisins. They ruined it a little for me, but that's me being a picky eater. Overall, I found this to be a nice break from studying and it was according to my expectations, but it just can't quite compete with KOFFIE, and some other cafés in terms of ambiance and value for money. Coffee and cake added up to 5,50€, which is similar to KOFFIE, which delivers better quality in my opinion. read more

For the sake of my favorite guilty pleasure - if Starbucks and Coffee Lover's were personified by a fictional characters, Starbucks would be Dan Humphrey and Coffee Lover's would be Chuck Bass. There, I said it. Modern design meets coffee house, meets fresh bakery, meets premium espresso, and there you have it: Coffee Lovers. The daily menu varies slightly and offers various quiches, artesian bread sandwiches, and desserts. There are four locations each with a slightly different feel based on the sales audience. One Coffee Lover's is located on the campus of Maastricht University, another within the shopping district of Maastricht, another in Wyck, with an annex in Ceramique, and finally the farthest location is located in Eindhoven. Yes, it IS possible to find delicious coffee in this corner of the Netherlands! Even though it's a chain, they make some of the best coffee I've ever had. Tip: get an americano or cappuccino to go (bonus: these are bigger than the stay-in coffees) and go sit by the river (or across the bridge in the park). Lovely place! read more

Extremely rude waiters. The food was decent, amazing portions, but what's the point of its served by waiters who threaten you with delayed service. Ruined my Sunday morning eating super salty bacon on white bread although I asked for brown, without a single drink as the "ticket" got misplaced. It happens but how you handle a customer when you know you are at fault speaks a lot about the establishment. Lying waiters who say they checked in with the bar though they clearly didn't and unapologetic waiters who narrate a boiler plate dialogue without making eye contact when asked for the complaint book is what you can expect here. One silver lining was they cancelled the whole bill which was generous but not enough to bring back my Sunday morning. Hate this place and would avoid it like the plague. read more

If you're looking for a decent coffee, this is where you should go. Their espresso is roasted locally and ground fresh before your eyes. Additionally, their snacks and sweets (nougat, how I love you), is delicious. There are also locations in the Selexyz near the Vrijthof and in the SCC Maastricht, both with WIFI. read more
