This place is not for the weak at heart. The shelter is small, falling a part, and filled with dogs. One side is for the City, the other for the County. I was here with Operation Freedom Ride, an animal rescue from New York, and we took as many dogs as we could so they could be saved from euthanization and adopted instead. While we were here, the night before two dogs got out and fought. Almost to the death. The one dog was taken to emergency and the other back into his kennel. The doors are so weak, dogs break out all the time. Even climb walls to get out. Operation Freedom Ride brought donations for the shelter and they keep them in a storage bin on the outside of the shelter. This shelter needs more donations to upgrade it. We were blessed to save the ones we did. Next time we will take even more. read more
