Rude front desk (1 of the 2 of the women, the other was extremely polite and helpful), great physician, extremely expensive for no reason and predatory lack of information when requested. I came in for a staph infection months ago and am $1,000 in the hole. Just got the exact same infection almost 4 months later, used K Health one time appointment for $40 and got the exact same prescription. Took about 15 minutes and didn't even have to leave my house. Yes, Cody Regional Health drained it for me and got lab tests done on the fluid when I didn't ask and refused to tell me how much it would cost at the time - probably to avoid confrontation or me going somewhere else. I pleaded and pleaded and they did not offer any wiggle room on the bill. My insurance wouldn't cover it because I was out of state. Now I'm paying $50/month for the next 2 years. I called and said I didn't request the lab tests and their response was that we need to do lab testing in order to give you a prescription. That's obviously a lie because I just got one by sending a picture of my infection on my phone. If the antibiotics didn't work, they could prescribe me MRSA antibiotics. I can drain the fluid myself and don't need a $400 lab test to tell me if the infection is antibiotic resistant. Would have been nice to get a step by step, hey just so you know if you open this door its going to cost $50 (new patient), ok now when i put these gloves on that another $200, alright $400 to drain this wound, now I'm going to send the pus to a lab and that's another $400. All I needed was a prescription. I guess you live and you learn but I talked to relatives in the area and this place has a reputation to being a holes when it comes to billing. They won't tell you how much it is even after treatment; just tell you it will come in the mail. Now I know why I would have lost it in there. It's a car salesman saying you should buy this car but I won't tell you how much it is until after you sign all the papers. How is this legal? Probably because they know they can just bill the hell out of the insurance companies driving up the price of medical care. That's not a free market. Elected surgeries price drops dramatically over time because of competition - look a lasik. That's the beauty of the free market. Our health care system is fugged. The solution is not health care for all. The solution is free market. Please don't come here even if you have insurance. This place deserves to go out of business. Good day. read more

Cody Regional Health claims to have a passion for its patients. This has not been my experience. I was injured during a surgical procedure. The doctor did not want to charge me for the surgery. However, the hospital would not allow her to remove her portion of the bill. I asked for a reduction in payment since the procedure had to be aborted because of the injury. This was denied. I asked to be put on a payment plan. They insisted the lowest I could pay a month was $190.00 and threatened to send me to collections if I did not pay this amount monthly. So now I am paying for a surgery that did not solve my problem, AND I will need to address the problem in the future and face those bills. Bottom line, this hospital cares only about money. read more

My husband and I were passing through Cody on our return back East. Our first full day there he began having some blood and small clots in his urine. That escalated to trying to pass. Increasingly larger clots. Seeing him in such distress had me calling the ambulance. He was taken to West Park Hospital in town. From the beginning he was treated quickly with a high degree of compassion and professionalism. These traits continued throughout his three day subsequent admission. You couldn't ask for better care on any level. The Urologist stopped in every day - three times on one day plus he was seen two and sometimes three times a day by the Hospitalist. All the nurses were fantastic I've worked and been a patient in much larger hospitals in much larger cities and none would compare favorably with West Park hospital in Cody, Wyoming. From the ER staff to the floor staff, everything was top notch. Doctors, nurses, CNAs, housekeeping, case managers, dietary - all showed absolute pride in their work and in their hospital. Great morale all around. Oh, mustn't forget the visiting dog. His handler politely would explain about his mission in taking part in health care. Very nice. All in all, if you fall ill suddenly away from home I can only hope you'll find as great a place as West Park. My husband says that some bigger hospitals could learn much. read more

My experience was at Urgent Care and the actual, in office, experience was perfectly fine; great even. My rating is not for my visit, it's for the billing office. I received a mystery bill from the hospital (which I did not even visit) for hundreds of dollars. I have called the billing department numerous times with either no call back or someone who cannot explain why I received this bill. I was supposed to receive a call back from a manager on Tuesday and here it, middle of the day on Friday. I have called back since Tuesday and left a voicemail after being on hold for 5+ minutes. This is ridiculous service. I understand that a hospital billing department probably isn't concerned with customer service, but I have never been treated so poorly by someone that wants my money. While on vacation in Cody, I went to bed with a slight headache and woke up with a full blown migraine. At 3 AM, my husband took me to West Park ER. I can't tell you how impressed I was with this facility. I was seen quickly by a great doctor and very kind nurse. I would highly recommend this ER to anyone. Well...this is not the kind of place I ever do reviews on, but did need attention here today with stomach pain issues. I rarely go into a hospital and they remain a least fav visit place, like dentist office. About normal ops here I suppose. Everything moves pathetic slow. No rush on anything, but I suppose if I were bleeding, broken up and unconscious, treatment would be more hurried. I do not advise anyone to visit these type places and we need to take better care of ouself so that this type place is only visited if you are bleeding, broken up or unconscious!!! They saved my father's life! After a deer-motorcycle accident dad was taken here by ambulance. He coded several times, had his spleen removed and received a lot of blood products before transport by Help Flight to Billings. They did a great job of keeping on top of the blood loss and trauma because when he came off the ventilator all his functions were intact! A real miracle! Thanks to all of you! read more

Their Wound Care department is awesome!! Seems funny to say that about wound care, but they really are. I've been seeing them for a few weeks and they are informative, precise, friendly, professional and well, just all around awesome. I was so nervous on my first appointment and they practically spoiled me rotten - and got me calmed right down. I have to admit, I do typically go to Billings for specialty appointments but I'm glad I went to Cody for wound care. read more

My husband had knee replacement surgery at West Park in June. The physicians and staff were amazing. He didn't have a complaint about anyone. He has had many surgeries in much larger hospitals and the care at West Park was way better than any of those facilities. Definitely A+++ in our book. read more

This is a relatively new hospital with good people working there. I experienced what I thought was a potential life threatening situation. This is an ER. They have to triage patients. Because I told them I didn't think it could wait given my symptoms, they put me right back. We aren't talking about stomach pain. We are talking potential heart attack/stroke. The staff was all about getting me in a stable condition with the doctor seeing me fairly soon. I experienced an MRI and CTA within 1.5 hrs of admittance. If my readings would've been worse than the equipment indicated, the tests would've happened sooner. I found everyone to be professional and knowledgeable. They told us they were wry busy that holiday weekend and to come get them if needed because we were so far down the hall. They did have a mix up at discharge and took longer to discharge me. But, they took mighty fine care of me, and I was willing to wait on the discharge because others came in behind me in worse shape. The sad part about the poor review is it seems to me this reviewer can't see past themselves to others. I'm healthy thank God. I got terrific treatment at West Park. read more

No one wants to need medical care on vacation, but what a relief it was to have West Park Hospital there when we needed them. You don't expect to find a 5-star hospital experience in the heart of the old west, but let me tell you, there are none better. All of the employees were super friendly, they love their jobs and it showed. I talked with the recruiter and she said people love it because of their patient centered care philosophy. My wife got to take advantage of their "patient centered care" first hand. The doctors were top notch and the service is better than you can get in a big city. They even had dogs come visit in my wifes room. (as a dog person, this really cheered her up) I hope you don't ever need a hospital while on vacation, but if you do, I hope it is in Cody. read more

I had a scan for kidney stones, which was found. What the ER doctor at West Park failed to tell was that I had aorta aneurism. I found that out 3 years later when I paid for a cheap scan of my vessels. For $100 I found out a big problem, West Park charge thousands and told me nothing. A good place to go for a sliver removal, other than that take a trip to Billings. You will live longer. read more
