Cool state park, with a lot of different things to do. It is Cleaner than Pinchot Park (in my opinion). It is pet friendly and you can take your family camping as well, if that is what you are into. My dog loves splashing around in the water, and you can rent a boat. If you don't know your way around stop at the visitors center and get yourself a map, it will help immensely.

My dog Sonny loves to swim here.

Go just to watch the Bald Eagles soaring. You might even be lucky enough to see one catch a fish. Or rent a boat or kayak and enjoy the lake.

This park is quite nice. They've got barbecue grills all over the place, and they even have frisbee golf equipment all around (you throw frisbees at these metal poles. Pretty much golf with frisbees.) The lake itself is beautiful and huge, and it seems like there are a good deal of boats that harbor out on the marina during the warmer months since there are so many slots for boats. The bathroom facilities were closed during my visit, but they had port-a-potties to save the day. A nice place to relax and eat food with friends and family! It is, however, a bit hard to locate. There are a bunch of entrances to the park, and I initially got pretty lost. Just make sure you know exactly where you're going. If you get lost, try looking around the bridge (which is on the main road that gets you to the park) and finding a different entrance. I would drive a mile or two in each direction to find the different park entrances.

This is a large park with the main attraction being a large body of water, the 1,275-acre Lake Marburg. The lake has 26 miles of shoreline so that are a number of different spots to check out. There is a marina, and boat rentals, a swimming area etc. It is a pretty spot even if you are just passing through as the main road passes over the water. The only thing I didn't like was it was alittle noisy from boats and planes overhead. I give it three stars, however, I have only been once and only rate this brief experience. I heard that you can camp here too. It may be nicer than I was able to experience during my visit.

The camping site is soo nice and relaxing. They are friendly as soon as you arrive. The sites are also very quiet especially at night. All campsites have a picnic table and fire ring. And the little convience atore is located at the entrance as a variety of things, ice is $2 and firewood is $6 for a bucket.

This park has it all. Beautiful views, boat rentals, pool, camping, disk golf, hiking, biking, geocaching and tons more. I've hiked this park, biked it, and just today tried my hand at kayaking. It's spread out around a 1200+ acre lake, with several different parking areas and spots to check out. Love it here.

Awesome camping. Very quiet for a state park. Clean bathhouse. Dogs welcome. No electric issues.

Great time with the family. They keep the park very clean and usually very quite. Can't wait to return next summer.

Me and my friends made a quick stop on the way home from brunch in the Cross Keys area, and the day was perfect for it. The park was alive with families and their furry friends just having small picnics and taking in the scenery. If you're not familiar with Sherwood Garden's, it's a privately owned community park in the Guilford section of Baltimore City. It's been famous for its annual tulip since the 1920's by John Sherwood, whose home bordered the park. To this day up to 70000 tulips are planted annually along with other flowers such as magnolias and dogwoods to name a few. Best time to visit is always towards the end of April and beginning of May. Although a private park, the public is always invited to stroll at your leisure throughout the grounds. The ongoing displays are 100% privately funded and depends entirely on contributions to fulfill its mission of providing a natural place for recreation for the community and related education.

There is no start or end, so just park on one of the surrounding streets and walk over. We were there the third weekend in April, and while the tulips were definitely past their peak, and many were completely gone, there were plenty of flower beds of tulips still blooming. Plus, almost all of the azaleas were blooming. I loved that they had so many different colored tulips and azaleas. They did different combination of colors in all the different flower beds, so we ended up seeing some surprisingly beautiful displays, even with some tulips no longer blooming. We weren't there very long because it was cold out, but this would be a great spot for engagement pictures or a picnic.

Both visits delivered exactly what I was looking for: quiet, well-maintained woods and a chance to disappear for a bit. Parking was easy both times. I found spots right near the trailheads without circling or waiting, which immediately set the tone for a low-stress hike. Even better? Across both visits, I saw a grand total of three other people. Three. If you're looking for seclusion and space to think, this is a solid choice. The trails themselves are clearly cared for. They were well-maintained, free of trash and debris, and the recent tree work was evident in the best way -- cleaned up, safe, and thoughtfully handled. Blazes were easy to follow and intersections were clearly marked, so navigation on the ground wasn't an issue at all. One important heads-up: I had zero cell service with Verizon either time I was there. None. Plan ahead. Download your maps, save your trail info offline, and don't rely on pulling anything up once you're in the woods. It's peaceful... but it's disconnected. Beyond the trails themselves, there's a lot to appreciate in the area -- from Appalachian Trail landmarks like the Midway Point marker to the surrounding natural beauty that makes this part of Pennsylvania so special. It's one of those places that feels quietly significant without being overrun. If you're looking for a quiet hike, a reset, or just some time in well-kept woods without crowds, Pine Grove Furnace is an excellent option. Peaceful, scenic, and exactly what it should be.

It's perfect for families with kids and there are little playground areas to enjoy. The bathrooms were overrun and dirty so a head's up on that. The lakes and beach areas were cute and very kidsy for the little ones. I found the waters way too murky for my preference but if you love bullfrogs and lily pads in black water then this is the spot for you. I just can't do too much algae overload.
