Being a past gymnast myself, it was nice to see good equipment and teachers letting little kids use it (carefully). They also have a toddler section where little ones spent most of their time. My son loved it there, however was at times he would get bored because some little kids who didn't want to participate were essentially wasting other kids time/turns. It wasn't the kids fault by any means, the teachers just didn't handle tantrums and bad attitude very well. Instead of letting those who don't want to participate sit out, they spend more individual one-on-one time with that kid, while other just waited their turn. Which was not fair to the other kids who were ready go and their thing. Thankfully this didn't happen too often. But when it did, it was very annoying to see. Another major gripe I have with flips is the location of their changing area. It's located right next to the main lobby, with doors that open directly to the outside. The dressing space is pretty tiny, and when one group finishes class and goes to change while the next group arrives to change for their class, there is literally no place to stand. And then, little kids have to walk by the exit doors in order to get to the gym area, which is always in use because people leave and enter all the time. So when it's winter time and freezing temps, barefoot and leotard clad little kids are very cold having to walk by the open doors and then stand in the lobby (10 feet away) waiting for their teacher to come get them for their class! Aside from these two negatives (for me), it's really a very accommodating and fun place for little kids to develop their physical abilities.

We were one of the first families at Kiddie Academy of Grayslake when they opened in 2021. We…read moreeventually enrolled both of our young children and for a decent amount of time were happy with the care and enriching educational environment provided by Kiddie Academy. However, all of that changed after a DCFS incident which involved our youngest son and one of the teachers. The entire situation was incredibly upsetting, but we felt as though Kiddie Academy at the time took appropriate action. The teacher was fired immediately and Academy wide training took place. We hoped that it was simply a "bad apple." We made the decision to pull our kids from the care of Kiddie Academy about a year and a half after that first incident when our older son also had a DCFS incident with another teacher. The directors response to that incident after reviewing the footage was so passive that we no longer felt that the safety and care of our children was a top priority. It felt more as though there was a protection of the teacher and the institution happening. Additionally, with this now being the second incident that our family was involved in there seem to be a more widespread problem. It has taken six months for our son to recover from the emotional damage that incident caused. We feel as though Kiddie Academy of Grayslake failed our children in not providing the most basic care and safety to them and we were extremely sad to be leaving under these circumstances.  I have really wrestled with whether or not to post this review, but upon hearing that a coworker of mine had considered this care provider without knowledge of our experience, I am finally making the decision to put our story out there.

We only had to take our kids out of the school because we moved to Evanston. I even commented to the director that I wish the center was closer to our new home because it broke our hearts to take them from their classmates and teachers that they had grown so attached to over time. Our boys started in the toddler room at year and a half. The teachers and assistants in this room were really loving and kind to our boys. They really took the time to get to know them, their moods and the unique needs each of them had. The boys then went to the 2 year olds room and exceptional care continued. Again, with teachers that took the time to genuinely care and respond to our children. One of my kids would always get very sad when we had to leave him in the morning, but he grew a fondness for one of the teachers, and when she picked him up and held him, he was fine. That kind of care is worth every penny! The center also does really nice holiday events (i.e. for Halloween and Christmas). Where they will have games, magic shows etc...for the kids and parents to enjoy. I would absolutely recommend Young at Heart to anyone seeking child care in that area.

My daughter came a long way here, having started with a little speech delay they not only worked with her on that but accommodated her speech therapist coming to work with her. The way this place was run it wasn't just all play time all the time, the kids would get to fun projects that taught them new things from arts and crafts type stuff to science and other subjects. I really have to give a shout out to the new director and her teachers assistant. They haven't been here for that long but i can't imagine this place without them. I would absolutely recommend Young at Heart to anyone in the area looking for a day care you can't go wrong choosing this place.

Anyone coming from Chicago knows, there's a long waitlist for daycares. We ultimately landed at the most expensive in our neighborhood, a so called "Montessori" (later found out they were not in fact designated as such). We moved to Grayslake and enrolled in kindercare, the experience has been great! Unlike the fancy titled city daycare, where we were talked down too and every little thing was an "issue".... he has a loud cry. He doesn't like some of his food. He had heat rashes when he woke up from naps (we had to get a doctors note to return). The experience from Kindercare couldn't be more opposite. The directors are so kind and reasonable. They approach issues with the motivation to solve them. Our son is SO happy there and has developed much more at Kindercare then the overpriced Montessori in the city.

I really do hope things get better…read more Here's a couple of occurrences. *Our daughter was given the wrong diaper brand/size multiple times, which caused an allergic reaction and her urine to seep through her clothing. *She is not being thoroughly cleaned when she has a bowel movement, thus resulting in further irritation. *We were asked to bring in baby wipes. Used for only 3 days, then asked for new wipes again. Materials being used for other kids. *Everytime we picked up our daughter, she would have snot running down from her nose to her chin. We would also see other children in the room with the same situation. Hopefully their toys are cleaned and sanitized daily. *Some personnel would have short shorts/mid rift shirts, and have 1 inch nails. From our understanding they are provided "Kindercare" shirts to wear, and gloves are used during diaper changes. How can gloves be used if their nails are long? *Still charged for services when the teachers have covid, and we couldn't bring her in. *They used to send pics of our daughter doing activities (foot paintings/learning about textures/shadows etc.). What we get now is a picture of her sleeping. *The final straw was when our daughter was given someone else's food (tortillas/fishsticks/broccoli/apple slices/milk). We have everything labeled. Our daughter could've been allergic, as well as it's a choking hazard.

He loves the staff and is always smiling when we pick him up. The daycare workers are very friendly and engaging and he seems to love them. The hours are of operation are great (open to 6:30 instead of 6) and the rooms are very clean compared to other places we toured. They are also very flexible in scheduling, we have consistent days but can add an extra if needed. If you are looking for daycare I would definitely recommend going here!
