L and I were visiting a friend who was at her office on a Sunday (poor A!) and decided lunch was a good option.
A told us this was her go-to place nearby for Asian food, so off we went. And what did we get? slow service, average food, and not a whole lot of atmosphere. A tells us that it's usually better, and I believe her, but it's hard to recommend this place based on what we saw and ate.
A mentioned bento, and i was immediately sold ... until I got there, and realised (a) there's no miso as part of the "bento", and (b) the selection of meat dishes offered as part of the bento pack didn't contain a single Japanese option. Bento? Not as I'd know it. So I chose char keow teow (I think that's the spelling) ... and it was OK. A little greasy, a little one-dimensional in flavour, but certainly not bad. L had udon, who she said was OK.
It's cheap, solid fare, but that's about it. read more
