This is the best taxi service in North Florida. Their Medicaid transportation Wheelchair vans are comfortable, clean, smell good and are driven by the best drivers. They have to be as they need so many certifications. Then they deliver fantastic service. As seen in the picture. Their driver loaded and secured my wife's wheelchair in the middle of a thunderstorm! He even provided clean towels to dry off with. That is 5 star service. His driving took us to our medical appointments, avoiding construction sites, and heavy traffic. We arrived ahead of time. After more than like 20 plus years of using coastal cab through its different organizational set ups, COASTAL CAB is DEAD! I have always called and just asked for a pick-up at this or that main stream restaurant or bar. Today at one of the most popular and well know Bas is where I called for a taxi. BUT NO, I had to dance through the process to actually speak with a person. Then they could not get me a cab without the address. Where are you dispatchers that actually know your customer service areas? After refusing to use Lyft or any other car service, and repeatedly explaining to some of the people that determine where taxis can and can not park during large events down town highlighting how its not safe or fare to let car services bypass and even illegally stop and park, I guess I'll have to switch and find a new service to get around. Even as the quality of Coastal Cab's vehicles went down hill, and I put up with shaking vehicles that made noise, I was loyal Anyone got a Cab! Lost at the Beach :0( read more

I've used this service a few times only because there are other taxi services that don't go on the military bases. It's amazing that more companies don't offer it. But my issue is that when they need a driver who can get on base, they'd rather make you call them back if they have a driver. I waited 30 minutes and no one came; when I called, the dispatcher told me they had to find a driver willing to pick me up. Then I still waited 20 minutes till the driver called me. They were in the wrong place to pick me up. Thanks for the service... like it's a shame other companies don't offer the military base ride because I'd use them in a heart beat. Well, now I have finally realized (after using them 3x) why they have such horrible reviews. Rude customer service would be my #1 complaint. #2 they have now gotten our "reservation" wrong twice. Wrong time pick up, wrong name under the reservation #3 when you think of a cab, you think of a CAB, not an old car. #4 I would hope that the person driving would be able to at least understand what I'm saying when I talk to them. I called and was told "he's already there", which was 15 minutes before our scheduled time...GREAT! So, I went out to let him know our guests would be out shortly, but nobody was there. I called and Cindy said "yeah, HERE could mean around the corner, down the street,...he's there. You have a 4pm pick up right?" Me: "yes, however,..." couldn't finish my sentence because she kept interrupting me to remind me we have a 4pm pick up. Finally, I said "I'm calling because you said he was already here and I didn't see him, so I was worried that maybe he was at the wrong location, so I just wanted to double check". Her reply "You have a 4pm pick up, right? So, he's there. Somewhere....do you want him to come now, he's been there since 1pm" Ummm...what??? Wow....just wow. I called them and the driver was there in 10 mins...that's good. It was a minivan and I made the mistake of sitting in the front seat with the guy. Apparently, they have their own vehicle at home and he jumped right in his and picked me up...well, they guy was gnarly, stinky, and hard to sit next to! I had to keep the window open with the AC just to breathe!! Also, it seemed a bit expensive compared to past cab rides that I've taken locally. This used to be a very good company until they went to their new system. Now they send the cabs to the wrong address for pick up or try and send you to the wrong address. This is not a one time mistake but happens almost every time I call them. The new drivers they hire are the worst. They smell and are rude. The old drivers are great and know the area and you don't have to tell them exact directions to get to a well known spot. read more

I called the company back when the cab was 10 minutes late. Lady answered the phone, asked me to hold and hung up on my me. I called back and she said he was on the way. They were 15 minutes late picking me up for an airport run. Then he had to stop for gas! The van was filthy, seats broken, reeked of cigarettes. I used this cab company exclusively the three days I was in town then my last cab ride during my trip I was told a cab would arrive over and over for the course of an hour to take my group back to the base. Long story short the woman on the phone Kat lied repeatedly then threatened and fabricated that she was a prior military captain and would have us arrested when I asked to have the can compensated for a 5 minute ride. I would urge you to find alternate transportation- particularly f you are going to the J'ville airport. The driver was 20 min late - knew we were going to the airport - and yes stopped for gas on the way. If you want to arrive somewhere on time, I wouldn't recommend Coastal Cab. The first time I used them for airport transportation my driver was roughly 10 minutes late. Luckily I got to the airport with time to spare. The second time I used the service, I built-in a 10 minute cushion just in case they were late. They didn't show. When I contacted the office, I was told someone could be in-route soon. By this point, I needed to leave my house ASAP to get to the airport on time so I just drove myself. While driving to the airport, a driver calls to say he is 10min away and will be there shortly. Luckily, I didn't wait around. To my point, if you need to be somewhere timely, find another cab company. read more

This company was purchased by a larger company about 3 weeks ago, and since then, their dispatching has been awful! We have waited on hold for up to 10 minutes, hung up on, etc. I'd recommend using Yellow Cab until they can get their stuff figured out. read more

The day before I needed the ride, I called to confirm and the reservation wasn't reflected. Made a reservation with dispatch. I ordered a cab through this service and instead got luxury ride from a true professional. Etienne John was well dressed and his Chrysler 300 was immaculate! He offered me a water for the ride and proved to be a wonderful travel companion for my 45 minute drive to the airport. If you are looking for a great deal on what equates to Limo service, request him by name. As a member of the Armed Forces I travel quite often, and never have I had service like today. We had a large group of 11 girls so we needed 2 vans to travel to dinner. Our restaurant was 1.5 miles away. The cabs were not metered and when we arrived we were charged $3 per person. It was only after going with a different cab company on our way home that we realized we were SCAMMED by Coastal Cab, since we were only charged $6 total for our return trip. Yesterday I called a cab for a Dr. appointment. When the driver got here he was very dirty looking, long messy hair, wild big beard and awful clothes He looked as though he had been sleeping under a bridge. First thing he said to me is do not tear the seat because I had my shopping cart with me, and he told me he wanted to put it into the trunk. I looked at him and he looked fierce. I said, no, please go away. and called the company. for another driver who then sent a puny little man who did not know the streets in Jacksonville and got lost.When I finally got to my destination, he charged me extra for him getting lost. so I paid him and he said he did not have any change so he would just keep my 75 cents. If you can possibly find someone else to get a ride with please do and spare yourself these problems. not the least of which smelly cabs stinking with cigarette smoke and nasty looking seats. I felt like I got covered with germs.Btw-there are only a few white taxis. Most all of them looked like they were resurrected from a dump yard. On the way home. I tired out a new service to the Beaches called Beach Side Buggies Nice clean van with comfortable seats. and a clean pleasant young man driving it. Only trouble with this service is that it has a limited range as to how far it will go in the Beaches area.. I am convinced that I should get a car. I am too old for this kind of a hassle. read more

My cab was 45 minutes late and never would have arrived if I had not called a second time. The dispatcher said they had my reservation but had neglected to dispatch a cab. My destination was the Hyatt downtown. The driver had no idea how to get there. He stopped in the middle of a street to program a nav system but still got lost. I had to use the nav system on my smartphone to give him directions. What should have been a $30 fare turned into a $60 fare as he missed at least four turns on the route. If Kelly is the one dispatched for wheelchair transport - CANCEL! Woman is only running her mileage, doesn't lock/brake the chair of her charge - could care less about how she leaves someone. Christmas Day - an emotional time for the loved ones she transported. Watched, first hand, her total lack of caring about the woman or her spouse who was completing what he could of making his beloved wife's holiday special. Kelly get the wheelchair out of her cab, collect the bucks and got the heck out of there. She left her fare in an area that was a bit chilly, wheelchair unlocked but by gosh, was going to get the bucks from this woman's husband. I alerted the staff she was there unattended. Kelly never looked back. . In ALL the times we have transported Mom from this facility. NEVER have seen such an attitude from a driver. Shame, TOTAL shame on this company for not only blowing me off on reporting this (number of calm phone calls from myself and other family members) but allowing someone like Kelly to work for them. We spent one night in Jacksonville preparing to board our sons Navy Carrier the next morning. When we checked in with the USO at the airport we were recommended to call Coastal Cab for our taxi and that they had a special rate of 30.00 for a ride to the pier. I called and spoke to a dispatcher, set a pick-up time, quoted a 30.00 fare, and was told not to go with any other cab company because they would scam us on the price.... Usually complaints are geared toward the driving but it wasn't the driving that was the issue, it was the condition of the vehicle. When I stepped into the van I was assaulted by the stench of stale cigarette smoke, grimy windows, an undefinable odor and general filth all around. Even the fabric covering the interior ceiling was more grey than beige. If I hadn't been so anxious to get to the pier I would have refused the ride. We took off and I couldn't find one end of the seat belt and was afraid to touch/explore too far into the seats. Oh, and that undefinable odor? I quickly realized it was urine. It was awful. AND, we paid 45.00 for the privilege and not what we were quoted. Between my husband and I we have traveled to many foreign countries including Mexico, China and Africa and never have we encountered anything as unsanitary and gross as this cab. Yuck. read more

On the return to the condo, we had an alternate cab driver and one of the original drivers who drove us to our destination. We were quoted a price of $45 from the airport to Neptune Beach. The quality of the cab left left our adult daughter wondering if it would run long enough to make the trip. The driver put the trip on a meter instead of the flat rate, took a ridiculous route to get to our address, and charged $53. We tried to use a local beaches company and were very disappointed. Mr. Donald Hatcher (904)924-5961 driver of taxi #4917 gave us the worst taxi experience ever! This driver refused to turn the air down. It like a freezer in the taxi, not to mention how rude and dirty the driver and taxi were, if he showered maybe he wouldn't have been so, hot and sweaty! It gets better after I refused to answer this greasy mess...he put me and my two very young children out of the taxi. I called dispatch to make my complaint and had the privilege of speaking to yet another rude employee who's response was..."what do you want me to say? Because the drivers are contracted, the best I can do is send out another taxi. Smh...this isn't my company". Never ever should this be acceptable! My children and I walked for a half hour to make it home, well after 8 pm. This taxi service won't get anymore of my money! read more

What's the point in making a "reservation" if they don't pay any attention to it? Reserved a cab at 2:30pm for a 5:30p pick-up. They confirmed the reservation. Arrival time? 6. I called twice to get the status, and both times the customer service was deplorable, especially from the dispatcher.
