I am a retired urologist with homes in Florida and North Carolina. For 7 months I was like a one…read morearmed man and it turned out I had what is called "adhesive capsulitis". I more or less could not use my left arm. I had feared I had a torn rotator cuff and thought I needed surgery, but I was wrong and that was not the case. I finally got an MRI and I found out I had a frozen shoulder and not a torn rotator cuff. My Florida Orthopedic Surgeon shoulder specialist in Florida recommended physical therapy but I was due to be in NC for the Christmas holidays. A friend in NC recommended Nestlerode and I had 3 sessions with Mic and one session with Emily, as Mic was out of town for the Christmas holiday. Mic helped me understand my problem and after the four sessions at Nestlerode, I am back to normal with a full range of motion of my arm and shoulder. PT is in my experience about half doing the exercises and half understanding the problem in the first place. Mic was a fantastic teacher. My Florida shoulder specialist has turned me loose and told me to let him know if I need any more help. I did not need any more PT in Florida. Courtney was the face of the organization on the phone and she was excellent in scheduling and answering questions. I would highly recommend this organization to anyone in need of Physical Therapy in the Elizabeth City area. Gary L. Berger, MD

Having worked alongside him in a rehabilitation setting, I can attest to his high standard of professionalism and extensive background in research. Dr. Travis was able to facilitate a thorough evaluation in my home which was extremely convenient! Additionally, he provided me with information to improve my body mechanics, posture and a personalized strengthening plan. I was also impressed with Dr. Travis' quick response to my inquiries and treatment needs. I mean, who wants to wait a long time to get help when they are in pain? He is a personable, down to earth person whom I am glad to know. I will continue to utilize his services in the future. You will not be disappointed!

I have been a patient here since 2007 when I saw Dr. Louis Jordan for a left hip issue. Eventually…read moremy only option was a total hip replacement. In 2008 I had my left hip replaced by Dr. Jordan. Since then I have had my right hip replaced in 2014 and both knees replaced in 2020. Left knee was replaced in August with the right knee being replaced 3 months later. All surgeries were a complete success with minimal pain and quick recovery. The office staff, Nurses and Physician Assistants are all very nice. Jordan Young Institute is a very large practice with specialists for all Orthopedic issues. This revue is just for Dr. Jordan and his staff. I have another Doctor at this practice which I will revue at another time.

I was referred to Jordan-Young Institute by a friend who was convinced they changed her life. From the first phone call to make an appointment, to my second follow up appointment with Dr. Babbington, I am satisfied. My first appointment was scheduled as soon as possible, after sharing my backstory and what I was looking for. When I arrived for my appointment, the receptionists were very friendly, and told me to check in on the tablet. A super convenient, easy way to check in, pay your copay and get your insurance on file. Once I met with Dr. Babbington, I knew I was in good hands. His expertise and passion for what he does made me feel confident that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. He went over my prior imagining, talked possibilities, scheduled an injection and a follow up, and made a game plan. On my follow up appointment, Dr. Babbington and I had to talk about the surgical options that I have to think about. Knowing one of them is tough to get covered by insurance, he said he will do whatever he can do to try and can get it covered, so that I can have the best possible procedure and a better future ahead. I'm looking forward to seeing how the procedure goes.

Review of expert diagnosis and treatment of knee injury by Dr. Edward Lambert at OrthoVirginia on…read moreFirst Colonial in Va Beach. Dr. Lambert took great care in examining my injured knee, withdrawing fluid (62cc), ordering an MRI, analyzing those results, providing expert diagnosis and providing a treatment plan. Couldn't be happier with the medical care and service. My knee is healing well and I am back to running - short segments - and I believe I will return to full abilities (for a guy 71! haha) in the next month or so. For a little background, a previous doctor at a different practice ordered an X-ray, did a brief examination, told me it was useless to drain the fluid, gave me a cortisone shot and told me I'd be lucky if that helped for 6 months and that he'd see me in 6 months to talk knee replacement. My running friends said, "Go see Dr. Lambert." As noted above, Dr. Lambert went the extra mile and the MRI results showed there was nothing torn - not MCL, not ACL, not meniscus - thus no surgery was required, but that I did come dangerously close to doing so and should slowly rehab my knee according to his tried-and-true Walk To Run Program and I should regain full use, range of motion and ability within a month or two. That's huge difference! Huge! If you're a runner, you know.

I had a small problem with the brace rubbing on my incision and they made room to add extra padding the morning I called. It was only my second time there and everyone remembered me! They have a great team there. They all work together for the good of the patient. Definitely recommend.
