Beyond…read morethe great skills he possesses, he is a man of his word, a pleasant, polite person to deal with. He responded to my email quickly. Corresponded with me through texts including giving me a quote for the job which I found to be a great value. He arrived on time and safely cut down and removed a 30-foot-tall tree in the front yard and he and his son cleaned up the lawn, sidewalk, and street. No mess at all left behind. On the second job two weeks later, he came alone, followed my request to trim off the lower branches of four large trees in the back yard. There were a LOT of branches! These would surely be on the lawn in the next ice storm! And just like last time, these branches don't rebound. This was disaster prevention. He hauled away all the branches off the lawn, then raked the entire length of the 63 feet long by 8 feet deep bed underneath the trees! I did NOT expect that kind of cleanup! I haven't seen that bed so clean in years! He used a blower and cleared the driveway, sidewalk and street of anything that fell during the removal. Again, I was left with no clean up task after he left. Seriously folks, if you need this type of work done by a professional, look no further than The Woodcracker. Highest recommendations!

My experience was mixed. I initially wanted a quote to remove a street tree that was damaging a…read morepublic sidewalk. We discussed the possible issues regarding city tree removal permitting, site specific challenges etc. and received a quote of $2700 to remove the tree and grind the stump. I filled out and returned the permit application and waited for city approval. Approx. 6 weeks later I got a call from Evergreen and was told the city denied my permit for a few reasons but that they would allow a structural pruning and gave me a quote for two trees witch was almost as much as the one tree removal. I went ahead and approved the work and gave a deposit. Later I sent an email to the city arborist asking for clarity on why the permit was denied and was told their office had no record of the denial yet. I was a bit annoyed that Evergreen made it sound like the denial was a done deal and scheduled the pruning before any official denial was recorded or given to me directly by the city. I would have waited until it was officially denied in writing before proceeding. If there was any chance that the permit had been approved I likely would have had to eat the pruning cost for the one tree AND paid the removal cost later.

They basically lied to me and talked me into a structural prune instead. The city did NOT deny my permit at that time but instead requested additional info from Evergreen which was never received . As of now the permit has expired. My guess is Evergreen did not want to take the time to satisfy the city request at the bid price and just wanted to move on. The whole purpose of wanting the tree removed was to facilitate a sidewalk repair so I have spent $2100 on pruning 2 trees and still have a busted sidewalk to deal with somehow. Thanks.

Andrew and his crew showed up on time, everyday, and worked rain or shine in order to finish our job in a reasonable amount of time. They also brought a creative mindset to the job, and added many beautiful touches we love -- and did not even know to ask for. Among other things, they built us handsome hand-stacked rock walls and enhanced the look of our trees with rock-filled tree wells. There was artistry in the way they did everything -- including the way they placed boulders, laid out stepping stones, arranged our rock patio and built rounded berms with pleasing rock borders. Andrew knew exactly what trees and plants would thrive in our micro climate near the ocean, and given his close relationship with Thompson's Nursery in Waldport, he got us the best plant specimens at a fair price.
