I dropped by this No Frills twice during my stay in Winnipeg. My first time was a day after Canada…read moreDay. I then went back the following day. There was a kitchenette where I was staying. It was perfect to get some fruit, drinks, and breakfast items. This grocery store is located in a plaza with a Starbucks. It is next door to a Liquor Mart. There was a lot of parking available. This store also has a Mobil gas station across from it. When you walk into the store, the produce section is in front of you. It looked fresh and appealing. I ended up getting a bag of imperfectly perfect gala apples, which lasted my entire stay in Winnipeg. They were delicious. I also picked up a twelve-pack of Pepsi zero lime. It also lasted my entire stay. It was refreshing to consume cold with some ice. I also got some unsweetened vanilla almond beverage. It was the same deal having it cold, but without a ton of sugar. The vanilla was subtle. I realized that I didn't have any breakfast items, which prompted me to return the following day. Done! I got some Pizza Pops that were on sale. This store had the limited taco version that is awesome if you like a bit of spice to them. I then got distracted seeing Hostess cakes going for $2 a box. I don't recall ever having the vanilla cupcakes, so I got some. You get six cupcakes, with two of them hermetically sealed in each package. I managed to take a couple back home after this trip. They were smaller than I had expected, a bit on the sweeter side, but they were enjoyable for dessert. I got a human cashier both times. Both staffers (female on the first day and male the second) were helpful and friendly. I paid with a credit card both times. Done! The plastic bag rule isn't as strict in Manitoba as it is in Ontario. I came prepared with a canvas tote bag (habit!), but you can get a bag if you need one. I used a shopping cart the first time and a basket the second. I never had any issues using either one or finding an available one. This store has a pharmacy and a wellness station. Thenkatterballowsnyou to test your blood pressure and more. I like that this store posts notices about the hours of operation for the week, thanks to Canada Day landing on a Monday. You see them by the baskets before you officially walk into the store. This store also takes a flyer and posts each page up for folks to read. It's a nice touch. Prices were decent at this No Frills. It had everything that I needed. I enjoyed shopping here during my stay. I'd return here when I'm staying in the Island Lakes area again. (263)

My disability makes shopping at Superstore impossible, its too big to walk for me, but this service allowed me to get decent groceries at decent prices (my income is limited due to disability). Now that they will only allow online ordering and pickup for those who pay online via credit card. Being on disability means I cannot get a credit card, so this service is no longer available for me. I am very disappointed in Superstore, and upset that a service I have been using for a year now has been taken away simply by them refusing to take cash and insisting on credit cards.

Have never had a nastier experience with a cashier. Some people need jobs where their nastiness can't be seen or heard. Maybe work in the back of the store or you need to walk around with a bag over your head with your mouth shut so customers can't see or hear you. I pity any person that ever dates you. Ugly both inside and out.

After I had dined at Hometown Grill, I was curious about Heritage Market and decided to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised that the woman who had made my pork schnitzel at the former eatery came over to help me at this store. When I first walked in, it looked like a convenience store with snacks. As I walked to the back, it had a deli and baked goods. The woman helped me out with cookies. There were six in each bundle. I had a difficult time deciding if I wanted the chocolate chip or white chocolate macadamia. I went with the latter. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I thanked this woman again for her good food. She said that it was raining. It was pouring as I walked over to my vehicle. There is lots of parking in this lot. A couple of cars were parked for Hometown Grill when I left. However, while I was dining in, I did see a car pick up food from Heritage Market. I loved the white chocolate macadamia cookies. They had a ton of ingredients and weren't all that sweet. I'd like to go back and get the chocolate chip ones. Hopefully, I can avoid the downpour! (227)

Parking is available in front of the building in the lot, or on the street. The inside looks like a time capsule from the 1980s. Everything inside is of that vintage, except for maybe a couple of items. The selection is no Superstore obviously, but they had all 5 food groups in there (veggies, meat, dairy, grain, and potato chips). Enough to keep you alive for sure. My one complaint would be that the deli section is tiny. I was hoping to buy my lunch there but ended up getting something else from another section.

It took a while but this place finally opened! I like their concept - fresh, healthy food for…read moreoffice workers. Downtown Winnipeg seems to be lacking in this area so it's a nice change to see this chain open up and provide better healthier options unlike the usual Tim Hortons or Subway. This franchise is situated in the new downtown MB Hydro building on the corner of Carlton and Portage Avenue. Lucky workers to have that in their building. This place is exactly what it calls itself to be - a deli and market. There's a sandwich station with sandwiches starting at $4.99 along with some pre-made ones. There's a made to order pita pizza section where you can create your own pizza. And there's a few soup choices. There's a hot and cold buffet table - priced by weight, $1.49 per 100g. Now, normally I don't like these types of buffet tables because who knows how long things have been sitting there. Plus there's so many people walking about, and some people are not very sanitary when it comes to these types of things. But it looks like there's good turnover on their first day as there was barely any hot food items when I arrived just after 1 pm. I opted to get some cold stuff - I got some marinated mushrooms, some tabouli salad and a Mediterranean mixed green salad type. In a small square styrofoam container (about a small salad sized portion) came to $3.40 after tax. I didn't think it was that expensive, but I guess that can add up when you pick up heavier protein items. The food is delish, it tastes like stuff I make at home and gravitate to on a daily basis - light and healthy. The mushrooms tasted like it was marinated in herbs and lemon - yummy. The tabouli was lightly seasoned and quite good. The mediterranean salad had artichokes in there (one of the reasons why I picked this one) - it had a nice tangy vinaigrette and wasn't not overly dressed. Nothing was overly seasoned or too salty - a plus in my books. It's their first day so maybe that's why they barely had any signages describing the food choices on the buffet tables. Also, it'd be nice to see some pricing on the market foods like the fruit, prepackaged to go meals and cheeses. There's also a coffee section that serves up cappuccino, espressos, cafe mochas, regular coffee and tea. This place has a moderate amount of seating inside as well. Sounds like they'll be open M-F, early in the morning till about 5 or 6 pm.
