I took the free class to see what Pilates is all about. The instructor was wonderful. She really explained things so thoroughly and had me do lots of different movements/stretches on the machine. I really wanted to love Club Pilates, but unfortunately I can't recommend this location, especially for beginners. Even when the class isn't full, the instructors don't really prioritize checking form. They mostly just call out instructions instead of giving individual corrections, which is so important in Pilates. Because of that, it's very easy to strain your back or shoulders. I've walked out of there with my hips feeling misaligned or with a pulled muscle in my shoulder, and that's not how you should feel after class. There just isn't enough focus on safety or proper guidance, and it's easy to do movements incorrectly without realizing it. On top of that, the studio itself isn't very clean. They keep the lights pretty dim, but if you look closely, the floor, corners, under the reformers, and even the ropes are covered in dust. They really should do better with maintenance and cleanliness. If you're already highly experienced and confident with your form, maybe you'd be fine here. But for beginners or anyone who needs more hands-on instruction, I'd say don't even bother. It's not worth the risk or the cost. read more

I love Club Pilates! I was a dancer for most of my life and reformer pilates is the only thing that comes close to giving me the workout that I need at this stage in my life. I feel rejuvenated after every class and look forward to the next class. The studio is immacuately clean and accessible. My favorite teacher is Paula. I started attending Pilates classes at the Simi Valley studio once weekly for three months to find a gentle and safe way back to fitness after an extended illness. It made me feel stronger, more fit, and enhanced my well-being. Pilates practice played such an important part in my healing process that after 3 months, I increased my practice to twice weekly each month. Now I feel ready to move up to to the unlimited number of classes monthly. My teachers have been very supportive and have discussed ways to adapt my practice as necessary. I truly think Pilates is an extemely well-rounded exercise method building strength, flexibility, range of motion, balance, and coordination. I was traveling to Simi Valley for the holiday to be with family and was looking forward to getting my usual exercise routine in while there. I arrived early to the first class of the day to give myself time to set up and acclimated to the studio. The instructor was not there, the doors were locked and she did not arrive until 11 minutes, or so, after the start time of the class time. When she arrived, she did not say hello, she did not say she was sorry to be late, she just unlocked the doors and people started walking in. She did not ask about injuries nor offered to set anyone up if they were new to the studio. As an avid pilates equipment user and someone who has taken classes all over the country I was VERY turned off and disappointed with this facility and teacher. Yes, I am familiar with the equipment and cuing but every machine and studio is slightly different. Several other class patrons shared with me that this was "typical" behavior of this instructor and club location. I was hoping my family member, who is local, would come with me to try out this exercise method I have been raving about for 20+ years, however after my experience I was glad they did not come. I ended up getting sick during my trip and cancelled the second class I was scheduled to take. I cancelled online and then followed up with a phone call, prior to the 24 hour mark, to make sure my request was received. At that time I was informed I would not be getting a refund for my VERY expensive $59 class, even though I was well within the 12 hour cancellation time. The person who answered the phone then put me on hold and when they returned to the phone they told me they would pass the message on and determine what could be done with my money/refund. It is now a week later and I have not heard back from anyone. I am incredibly disappointed and will never take another class from this Club Pilates or another Club Pilates owned by this franchisee in SoCal. read more

It doesn't even deserve 1 star. I've tried multiple times to get someone on the phone and no one seems to be available. The phone just rings, rings, rings, no one ever picks up and goes to voicemail. I've emailed the studio, nothing. I can't get pricing or information on their memberships because they don't seem to care to pick up their phone or reply to an email. To me this has been a red flag. I'm just updating that I decided to continue with club pilates. After working so hard to get in, I wanted to give the club a real try. Despite how frustrating the sign up process was, and despite how rude I felt the response from the owner on here was , my week to week experience with the club has been positive. The scheduling system can be frustrating. The fact that you can only schedule at the start of the month when you get your credits - and you can't just have a standing class appointment because of it. Classes are often full, but I will very often get on off the waitlist. However, I threw my back and called in to ask not to lose a credit on a class - and was removed without hassle without a credit loss. The teachers have been great, and even only going once a week, I've been feeling a real benefit. The atmosphere feels nice and peaceful. Overall, it's been good. Overall very poor customer service. Studio is dusty and not clean and for the amount they charge for monthly fees, honestly they should do a better job keeping it clean and replace the cracked leather on the reformers and better equipment. This is supposed to be a tranquil and peaceful place but I just feel the management does not genuinely care for their customers and just look for every and any instance to bill you and make money. God forbid I get sick or have an emergency and need to cancel a class, I don't even bother asking because they don't accommodate it and they charge $15 for every missed class-cautioning others to be wary of their tactics and lack of humane empathy. Again this just ties back to their policy to charge their customers any chance they get without respect and compassion. I still don't get their policy to freeze my account when I know I'll be out of town and can't take classes, they tell me they charge for freezing and then when I ask for clarification they just me it's easier to keep the monthly billing. I like the classes and most of the instructors are ok, but sadly this studio's overall attitude and poor management was a very traumatic and negative experience and would caution others before investing their time and money in this place. read more

UPDATE: I would like to update my review as they obviously felt they were in the wrong and have agreed to refund me for the 2 months I was charged for. I do still think they need to work out some kinks in their systems, I am glad that they were able to resolve my issue. I am still not giving them a high rating as they do have some work to do regarding maintaining the equipment and providing a clean atmosphere, but I appreciate a resolution of this matter. I would first off like to say that I think the staff and the trainers are excellent. That being said, the owners are extremely money hungry and keep raising the fees without doing any maintenance to the equipment. Straps are taped, or fall off. I was told when I froze my membership due to a surgery that I would be charged $25 a month until I called and unfroze the membership. I completely understand that, however, they decided on their own to unfreeze my account and to charge me $349. When I called to resolve this issue the manager was very nice, but said "it is out of my hands." I do not recommend Club Pilates in Simi Valley, Moorpark or Newbury Park (I believe they are all the same owner) as they are extremely unethical and I will be seeking a refund through Small Claims. read more

This location is located on the 2nd floor and there's plenty of parking. This is a very large studio, it's very nice and clean. My friend actually brought me with her to the studio for the "bring a friend" month. It was nice, we did the stretching class. When you walk in, you write your name on the tiny whiteboard on your mirror. It was a nice slow class and the instructor was very thorough and clear about each movement. The air conditioner only works part of the time. He refuses to spring for a Spotify account, so you have commercials during your workout. Stopped providing water cups for the water dispenser. A revolving door of good instructors demonstrating a need for more support or appreciation for the staff. The owner requires payment for an additional unwanted month after you cancel your membership. My only regret is that I didn't join two years ago when I moved back here! I'd been trying to find the right gym fit for me, so it took a while, but Club Pilates is where it's at. I'd been feeling SO out of shape and I'm already feeling such a difference in my body. I feel stronger and tighter and the best part is that I find it fun, which makes any exercise that much better! I love that there are people of all sizes and ages and the instructors have been so helpful. So I love the classes and the teachers are all pretty good but the problem is that communication is horrible and the rotation of the people of the front desk is unbelievable and they've double charged me and charged me for classes and I have unlimited!:/ I can't even use my pass right now for the last 4 days and no one will call me. They keep telling me that there's an email I can contact the owner but really it just goes straight to the club and they don't ever get it to the owner. READ THIS FIRST BEFORE YOU JOIN!!! The contract you sign is boiler plate and you sign it on your phone. You do not get an actual hardcopy to review all the terms of the agreement. What they don't tell you is that it's impossible to cancel! Another Yelp reviewer had the same problem! I Wish I read her review before joining!!!! The company tells you that have to email first, and verify they have received with a call. I called and emailed and they still kept charging me!! I emailed multiple times and they still refused to cancel OR issue me new credits (I was willing to stay and take credits in lieu of being charged and they said NO, terrible customer service). Its impossible to cancel and they keep charging your credit card!! Over $800 later and months of fighting with them I made a complaint to my credit card and cancel my card to get out of the contract! Horrible company! Horrible, horrible horrible! I still get emails from them telling me I owe them money. I had to block them because I would lose my mind every time I would see one in my inbox. Ughhhhh. If you really want to join, get a credit card you can load money onto and cancel anytime. As far as the instruction, it was mediocre at best. Not individualized, if you have never taken classes-this isn't for you because the instructors aren't focusing on your form. They just walk up and down the aisle calling out moves. Under new management and you can tell. I love Club Pilates and have been a member 4+ years in Simi Valley. Under new management now and things have definitely changed, not for the better. The instructors are great, Cindy and Charisse, as they always have been. Love Susan too, but she's only subbing now. The new front desk team seem to be confused most of the time and un-knowledgeable. Even though I have an unlimited membership and am in the studio 4-5 days / week, I have yet to see the new manager. The equipment is beginning to go missing - low on trigger balls, weights are missing and some of the small balls too. You just have to look to management for responsibility of these issues. If you can look past the lack of management and front desk support and really want to enjoy the classes, then sign up for anything offered by Cindy or Charisse ( Susan too when she's subbing!) read more

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT - APRIL 2021! Terrible, inefficient, incompetent customer service. I love Pilates, and this small gym is very nice and clean (with some great instructors). But I was told clearly last fall that I could freeze my membership due to the pandemic and could come back when I felt comfortable. Out of the blue, I was charged for Feb, March, and April! I called three times and sent many emails - no answer! I was finally contacted by the "new management" that took over on April 14th. I was told that this freeze agreement was with the "old management" and that it would not be honored now. Back and forth with emails, I finally got two of the three charges refunded with great effort and time. I made it clear that I would never return after being treated with such disrespect...essentially being told that the charges were my issue because the agreement was with the "old management"...one month ago! I am shocked and disgusted. With such a tough year that we have all been through, clients should be treated with kindness and understanding. I really wanted to come back in mid-summer, but I will never return. When I said this, the new owner replied that I was punishing them because of old management. His only offer was, return to the gym and I will refund you the money you were charged (charges that were not authorized!). So that is what this is all about...he doesn't want me on freeze, he wants me to return so he can continue charging me. Maybe this was the goal all along - charge clients on freeze out of the blue so they will be forced to return in order to receive a refund? Awful! There are many wonderful small gyms in Simi. Please explore these other options. No one should be treated this way, especially when I have recommended this gym to many others. It is so disappointing (and time-confusing) to have to fight unauthorized charges. Mistakes happen, but to be blamed (and charged) for their mistake is unconscionable. read more

Club Pilates Simi Valley is absolutely AWESOME. Although I am a beginner and I'm not very good, I feel with just 3 classes so much better. My back feels straight my belly seems not so poofy, I am sleeping better, I gotta say, I am pleasantly surprised at this whole Pilates business. I was really on the fence about joining, but now I'm so glad I did. Instructor Susan is terrific. She was very patient with me, and made my class this evening extra special. I have never had such terrible service from a business. When I signed up for the 3 month membership I was very excited after taking the free class. I signed the contract and was told that the club was very flexible. After 6 weeks in my arthritis kicked in and my knee could not take the bending and twisting. At my doctors recommendation I had to give up my classes. I contacted the studio to cancel and was told I had to email a cancellation letter. My luck the email was stuck in drafts. I emailed the studio a week later to cancel and please respond back. At the end of the 4 th month another charged appeared on my card. I sent another note to cancel and please respond back. Still nothing, so I disputed the charge and then finally got a response. My membership was cancelled but I still owed the 4th months fee and they tacked on 50.00 in fees. So much for working with your members. Zero customer service. Beware of what you sign up for. read more

Today I decided to take a class at another studio due to the timing working within my schedule. I drove out to Simi to take the Reformer Flow 1.5 at this studio. I was greatly disappointed. The studio is located on the second floor, to the right of Lassen's, by Target. I had a bit of a hard time finding it at first since I'm not familiar with this area. I called and they helped guide me. I was nicely greeted upon entering, check in went smooth and they have pretty good stock of Club Pilates attire. The bathroom was large and very clean & chic. The set up of this studio is different than my typical Studio but you could tell where everything is. After picking a reformer the class started without me even being able to hear the instructor. There was music on very loud and I couldn't even hear the instructor. Her accent mixed with low volume made it almost impossible throughout the entire class for me to hear what position/move she wanted us to do next. The whole class was off beat and doing different moves at times. I became so irritated during the class and wanted to walk out. Yes it was that bad. I come to pilates to relax, re-Center myself and get in a good full body workout. This was the total opposite. I left completed irritated, tense in my shoulders, and not feeling I really got a good workout. Not sure if I'm just totally spoiled by the outstanding instructors at my Westlake location, but this was bad. At times I felt like she was just making up moves. Never once referenced what muscles should be working, to correct posture, or reinforce correct breathing with corresponding moves. I'll be curious to ask my instructors at Westlake if some of the moves we did are even pilates moves at all. Very disappointed! If I wasn't an unlimited member I would have asked for a refund. (p.s. I've taken over 60 classes since December so I am fully aware of how classes typically flow and are run). read more

Went here for their "demo class." FYI it isn't an entire house class it's more like 20-30 minutes and then a hard sell to sign up. That kind of disappointed me because most fitness classes have one free class. All of the classes have a 3 month commitment and the bottom level was pricey. I use class pass because I like no commitment and flexibility. I also work out in TO and WLV mostly but was looking to supplement with somewhere close to home but this won't work for me. Looks to be a clean studio from what I saw. I don't like how the lockers are in a separate room. read more

I absolutely love this place! I used to use the Megaformer, which I do really like, but I am in LOVE with this brand of pilates. No two classes have been the same.....actually not even close. Every instructor brings something different to the (pilates) table and the variety of equipment used works muscles I forgot I even had. What really pushed me to try this location was their use of TRX and I have not been disappointed. I am energized after every class and I can actually wake up EARLY for the classes because I look forward to them! I HIGHLY recommend giving them a try! read more

I specifically asked them not to charge me again and they said I just needed to come sign a waiver. I couldn't make it that month due to travel but wasn't worried about it until I came in to sign the waiver. THEY CHARGED ME AGAIN!!!! Said the cancellation wasn't valid until the waiver was signed. I wanted to try an advanced level class but was told that certain movements were prohibited for me, due to it being my first time. I've been a member here for the past few months. The only reason I'm writing this is that I needed the phone number, google took me to yelp, and I was surprised by negative reviews enough to write an honest one from someone who attends there regularly! No single facility is going to meet the needs of everyone, but I have never, EVER met an unfriendly receptionist and the teachers are all dedicated to their students. The facility is very clean and there's a great deal of variety in the classes. If I had any complaints, they would be associated with this site still getting up to speed: not enough high level classes yet and one teacher who is still learning some techniques outside the traditional Pilates repertory. But those things will improve with time. Overall, this is a great club, and the prices are lower than most anywhere else. read more

Just seems very expensive to me. I saw a lot of classes that were already full and for a place were you can really only go when there is a class you are in that level of you would think they would have more machines so more people could take the class. I just can't see spending all that money on a place that you cant go anytime you want or that the class you want to take is already full. The employees and the class teacher were all very nice and it is a nice calm atmosphere. I wouldn't mind dropping in here and there and paying $25 to do so. The packages the offered just didn't feel like I would be saving all that much money especially since you have a sign up fee and monthly dues. The packages were for 4 or 8 classes a month or unlimited. So the fact that you might not even be able to take the classes you wanted to when you could fit it into your schedule. It just didn't seem to be all that much cheaper just to pay the $25 to drop in. And the monthly unlimited was extremely expensive for a class based program. I wouldn't pay that much a month for full access to a gym I could go to anytime I wanted even if it had every service imagenable. If the coast had been a little bit more resealable I would have signed up right there and then. read more
