The bunker itself is a massive block of dark concrete, towering over the whole area like something out of a horror flick. Walking up, you have to stand in line for a bit and are taken up in an elevator to the club. I thought the layout was great, but was a tad disappointed at the underusage of space. I just saw the main room, the side smoking room...but that seemed to be about it? I had been looking forward to a much larger venue with more corners to explore. Went to Kompakt Nacht and saw part of it, unfortunately I decided on a full bottle of wine before going out and took the high road and went home early before getting myself into any more trouble. Overall, vibe was great, drinks were decent and crowd was there to dance -- which was my favorite part.

That seemed to be a pretty normal time to arrive, as there was a line from the door to the street, but we were let in in groups fairly quickly (within 20 minutes). They will check your bag, but will not pat you down. There are four long flights of stairs to get up as well! So think ahead if you have physical disabilities. At the start of the night, the line for the coat check was absolutely huge. I would recommend dancing/waiting with your coat/bag for a while if you can and coming back to the coat check further into the event, as the line will be shorter and quicker. It was €2 to check a coat or bag- if you want to check both you have to pay €4. The people working the coat check are definitely some of the rudest people I've seen as club employees anywhere, but just roll with it. Avoid the young woman with dark hair and a septum ring if you can at the coat check- she has no patience for anyone who hasn't been there before and will roll her eyes and push your stuff back at you aggressively if you put it on the counter too fast. There were 2 different bars, so you could usually get a drink pretty quickly. Prices on the drink card aren't what you'll pay! I have no idea why. (Ex: tequila shots are listed as €5 each, but I paid €6 for 2.) This might be a European thing (coming from an American) but people really like their personal space at this club. Bumping into other people repeatedly will get you annoyed/strange looks, and it's definitely not a body to body, shoulder to shoulder type of place.

We went up to the bouncer to ask him what time this place closed and he was very unfriendly, unwelcoming, and acted like he was discriminative. The bouncer said something in German and literally pushed me to the side. I didn't say anything to offend him so I was surprised why he even pushed me - let alone touch me! I felt disrespected and belittled and so I called the police. The police officer that came was a woman who surprisingly did not take the time to ask me why I called them. She immediately spoke with the staff of this night club and they spoke in German. She then came towards me to grab my cell phone to delete any pictures which I took of the bouncer who disrespected me by pushing me. She then sought the help of the bouncer to come and grab me to help handcuff me. Why did she hand cuff me when I called the police?! I kept telling her I'm the one that called the police for help and she disregarded me and had a smirk on her face. She told me the bouncer speaks German and that he told her that I was threatening them that I would kill them. Who would believe that someone who goes on vacation and just wants to check out this place would be accused of threatening to kill them?! How ridiculous is that? I told her take me to the police station because I don't trust you and I need to talk to someone else. When we got to the police station, she said to me everything is okay we won't arrest you but you have to pay me 120 Euros. I told her I'm not paying anything because I didn't do anything wrong! I told her I need to call my US embassy and after speaking to the US embassy they let me go. I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE WHO VISITS HAMBURG, GERMANY! WHAT A GARBAGE PLACE! I have specific photos of those who treated me unfairly that work in this place in case anyone wants to know who these disrespectful people are! I really didn't want to select any stars but Yelp would not let me post this review without choosing even 1 star!!!

Grosse Freiheit 36 isn't my favourite concert venue in Hamburg, or even my 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or even…read more5th choice, but it still gets 5 stars! Grosse Freiheit 36 is where the mid-level to big bands often play in Hamburg. I was last here a few weeks ago to see Bon Iver, who were originally meant to be playing Knust (but I guess it sold out), they were then moved to Uebel & Garfarlich, and then finally to Grosse Freiheit 36 - this should give you an idea of the pecking order of some of the venues in Hamburg :) The place is pretty huge and on two levels - almost certainly an old theatre. There are bars everywhere, and while the alcohol choice isn't great, the prices are not so terrible (still expensive compared to a normal bar though). My only slight annoyance is that the toilets are annoyingly located just to one side of the stage, which if you're at the other side can mean quite a lot of pushing and "sorry" to get to.

From the balcony there's a astounding view of Reeperbahn. It gives you a possibility to be part of the famous street, but also to look at it with more distance - and a lot of stuff is happening on that street, so I would def recommend doing that as part of your evening! They have a few cocktails to offer and they all seemed really good. The one I ended up with was delicious and the prices were very fair. It's not a big room, but that makes for a more intimate setting. The bathrooms are clean and the staff seem like they like being there. I'm definitely happy that I got to go to this place as part of my Kate Tempest-fan-girl'ing.

The crowd is either getting younger or I'm getting older, however it's ok. Dress code is casual or dress to impress, just don't overdress yourself and don't do that stupid trash look thinking that would be cool or "London style" or whatever. It's TRASH! haha Well that you can find enough outside the Reeperbahn, so no need for trash look. Admission is usually around 10-12€ or free for students.

Not Reeperbahn-like, mixed goodlooking crowd varying from trashy style to extremely fashionable. No loud, drunk tourist so far Total social hotspot, got to meet all this funky people! The decor is kind of Hollywood/LA stylish. The DJs play commercial classics & sexy underground sounds, very dancable! Definitely go back here! One of the Reeperbahns best kept secrets!

Party boat!…read more Yes it's a little harbour boat tour boat that's had all of the seats ripped out and a bar and soundsystem put in, leaving most of the space for the dance floor. Catch it from the far west end of Landungsbrucken. EUR8 on, and then beers are EUR2.50. It docks once an hour so people can get on and off, but once you've paid your EUR8 then you can stay on all night. One point worth noting: go to the toilet before you get on as there's only one toilet aboard and the queue moves pretty slow!
