This would have been a 5 rating if not for a dog bite incident where the owner refused to be accountable for her dog biting my dog. We were there for 10 minutes when a large Rhodesian Ridgeback bit my girl as she returned a ball to me. No skin was broken on her back and my girl seemed OK so we moved far out into the park to get away from the biter. Twenty minutes later my dog was returning a ball and the biter appeared and bit again. Look out for this dog if you go there. The woman that owns the Rhodesian Ridgeback said we were not locals and that is why her dog bit my dog. Not a good excuse for bad behavior and no apology. If your dog attacks another dog, you're responsible and accountable period. My next message is going to Coupeville City Hall to ask if an occasional visit from an animal control officer might help remind owners that they're responsible and need to supervise their dogs. Otherwise, this is a fabulous dog park. Go here, your dogs will love it.

This was perfect for us to stop on a daytrip to Sequim. My friend's dog was getting a little antsy…read moreand we wanted her to get some of her energy out prior to going to the Olympic Game Farm so that she didn't jump out the window or something else at the farm. The dog park is separated into three gated areas. The smaller dog area is ample size to accommodate at least 50 dogs and their owners. The larger dog area is also decent in size. Both areas have water stations and covered benches just in case you want to sit down and watch the dogs play. The third area is for agility testing or for dogs to run the obstacle course. I will say that the majority of the dogs that were in the large pen were very friendly and kind of minded their own business. My friend's dog did get scratched in the nose as she entered though, so her nose was bleeding a bit but nothing major. The pens also come equipped with a few dog ball tossers and other toys to keep the doggies moving as well as doggie doo bags. I did sense a bit of community here as well as there were a few posters of dogs that have passed on as well as dogs that were lost were posted and several people talked about the dogs that passed on as if they were their own. Overall, a nice place to just let your dogs run.

Then the lady screamed at my child calling him retarded for running. Needless to say there were some harsh words from me and another mother. Another time a mans dog had taken my dogs ball which I don't mind I let the dog play with it for a while but then my dog (a Doberman) was getting frustrated because he wanted his ball. So I went to try and get it from the dog we struggled for about 30 mins trying to retrieve the ball from the dog. All while the owner kept saying good girl and cheering his dog on in this game of take away. Oh I should also mention I was pregnant at the time. The dog stopped at the owner many times and he would just ignore me and let his dog keep the ball. This park seems to have a stigma against my Doberman even though it seems like he's the one being nipped at by people poodles If you go in the evening though at dusk you can usually avoid the rude elderly and you and your dog can actually enjoy it. This is just two times there has been many more incidences.

There was two other big dogs at the park and since my dog is antisocial we went into the small area. If you forgot your dog bags they have you covered, at the entrance there are some free ones. There was so much shade and room to run, my dog loved it. Both sides had benches to sit on. They do have bowls for you to fill with water if it's a hot day. Overall a very nice park.

There is now a lovely handicap accessible porta potty complete with pave stone pathway immediately to the right of the entry for the large dog area. 2. Yes, a few folks do sit in their vehicles while their dog is in the park. At least a couple of these people have health issues and cannot be with their dogs the entire time. We are a small community. We look out for each other. Please be understanding that sometimes there is more to the story than what you see. 3. I see more tourists not pick up after their dogs than residents. And let's face it, sometimes it's easy to be distracted speaking with friends, playing with other dogs, or engaging with visitors. If you find yourself at the park during a lull, there are several scoopers available. Grab a scooper, take a walk, and log some karma points. The smaller scooper is easier to dump into the bagged trashcans than the larger one (which requires a bit more talent). Or if you see a nearby singular poop that got missed, pick it up with a poop bag. We have a fantastic resource here. Cherish it. Take care of it, even if you are just visiting, And remember, with a little TLC m maybe we can hold onto this little doggie paradise for a long time.

This past year they renovated the big dog area so it has a lot better drainage than in the past. Both areas have covered seating for people to stay dry while your pups play in the rain. Along with the dog area, they also provide a huge field with two baseball diamonds that are mostly open use for the community. A paved path winds along the entire park perfect for running or walking with a stroller or young children. This park is kept clean and it's patrons are a good community minded group you will recognize within a few times of being here.

For Worden State Park used to be somewhere I visited frequently in 2015. The historic military structures and preserved officer dwellings create a fun sense of stepping into the past. I did feel like that the park had a sense of weight to, in a super natural way if you catch my drift. I loved being able to sit on the beach and watch for wild life while feeling grounded. Highly recommend you visit this location in the Triangle of Fire.

Since than we have become educated so as to protect the laws set in motion by the ADA. There are 2 questions that can be asked regarding an animal that may be in question: (1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? and (2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform? Staff are not allowed to request any documentation for the dog, require that the dog demonstrate its task, or inquire about the nature of the person's disability. [Source: https://www.ada.gov/resources/service-animals-faqs/) These questions were not addressed by the Park employee and the Park should have in place a plan on how to address an animal that isn't showing behavioral issues (ie: zero training, aggressive towards people/animals, etc.). There is a need for an awareness of the importance of being respectful to service animals. There is sadly many who claim their dogs as service animals when they're clearly not trained for any tasks and therefore should be labeled as ESA (Emotional Support Animal).

Beautiful beach side park in Whidbey Island- we visited right at sunset. Washington State Parks are…read more$10 a day or $30 for an annual pass- we opted to buy the annual pass and leave it for our boys, who live on the island. I made my way out to the beach and went walking and collecting driftwood and various stones. Views are gorgeous, the bugs weren't too bad at sunset and I had a good time seeing the bunny's come out to nibble on grass and the birds flying around.

There is a small parking area by the beach where one does not need a Discovery Pass because it is not technically part of the park, but is close enough to access the park grounds via foot. We park there and then I can go exploring on foot on the beach or traverse some of the trails through the woods. I was walking along the main trail during the summer in 2021 and found some blackberry thickets. The berries were big and juicy. So upon returning to my grandmother's house we found a pail and I brought it with me upon returning to the park and picked a few handfuls of blackberries. After picking the berries we got some ice cream at the grocery store and had blackberry-topped ice cream for a snack/dessert. Fun place to explore and collect berries for a sweet treat with grandma.
