What I love about this location is the staff - they are friendly, helpful, and if you have a special request, they will point you in the right direction! This experience I had today was unlike any I have had in the past. I took in 20 handbags, six of which were Kate Spade, one Lululemon, a Coach, several Vera Bradley bags, two Bogg Bag Crossbodies...some new with tags. My offer was 118 dollars. For 20 purses. However, that wasn't the worst part of the experience. When I returned to the store to see my offer, I asked the child waiting on me to repeat something she'd said--I have Aphasia and explained that. She yelled her request at me, which was rude, but when I looked for my account information as she'd asked, she turned to the three adult employees standing behind her and said, I should start doing this, and MIMED her question while speaking it extremely slowly and loudly. The adult employees had the presence of mind not to laugh, mostly because they saw that I had seen her. When I told them that the hand gesturing was unnecessary, NOT ONE OF THEM responded to me, and one was the manager. After I left they told the owner how unhappy I was with the situation and she called me, not to apologize, but to school me on how their policies work. I suggest to anyone thinking about selling here to look at the corporate guidelines and to have an idea of the resale value of their pieces, because they will mislead you as to how the process works. I went into plato's closet before going into there store and plato's didn't give me a bag. so once i walked into there store they thought some how i stole there cloths. they talked behind my back and texted laughing and pointing at me. the managers followed me around everywhere. and instead of asking me if i had a receipt. they stared and talked to me in a very rude way, screaming that they are looking at the cameras. and multiple other things. i had the worst experience there ever and do not recommend going. on the other hand the plato's closet right next to it is amazing with very nice workers. i would go there. read more

My assignment got extended a week, so I decided to check out Clothes Mentor and pick up a few extra things to tide me over. What an amazing selection of everything. Dresses, jeans, hats, shoes, jewelry, T-shirts, and sunglasses. All sizes, all colors, and plenty of assistance from the staff. The store is very neat and organized, color-coded by style for the most part and sizes are easy to find. The prices are also based on tag colors. Today purple was half off. There's also a selection in the center of the store that's got yellow stickers which are also half off. I picked up three beautiful dresses and a pair of jeans, with sunglasses and a silver necklace to go with it all. Lovely things, all for less than $50 total. I am set! I also walked away with a few touristy tips. I will definitely be passing back through this shop again before I leave. read more

I went to ask to see a coach purse behind counter and it was labeled 39.99$ to me it looked like a really good knock off worth 40$ price tag. Sweet young girl rang me up and someone else came and started looking and digging through the purse then proceeded to take over to another computer to check it out. Mind you, it was tagged and had another label with the same price 39.99$ I was there waiting the lady number 2 didn't say a word a or even look at me until I asked are going to sell the purse to me, she stated " We just got this in today so I'm looking it up. I asked lady number 1 to delete it off my purchase. And that was that, but I find very rude to interrupt a sale and dismiss me like "whatever". Do not ever sell your luxury/designer bags or accessories to Clothes Mentor. They will rip you off and basically steal your money and your item. After a long process of authentication and having me pay $20 to do so (and won't give your money back if you don't let them sell the item after) they compared my authentic LV vintage Eugenie multicolor wallet/clutch to others on Poshmark (which was not a valid way to way to determine price) they offered me $30 because they could "Only sell it for $60" I was so over it at that point I rolled my eyes and basically said whatever. I looked it up on their website later that day, and the next day and the next.... It was never posted. They basically stole my LV wallet. The staff is not helpful even if you are just there shopping and have such a pretentious attitude about themselves. I asked to see a Patricia Nash leather tote handing up (and the employee reluctantly went to get it like I had asked her to go out of the realm of her work duties) and it was in horrifyingly terrible shape! Black marks and scuff marks everywhere and they had it priced at almost $90 when I declined due to the condition of the bag it was like I had ruined her day and I felt like I was offending all staff when I checked out with a mere pair of converse. Attention, FYI Do not sell your luxury handbags to Clothes Mentor Lexington or Plato's closet. They will rip you off.... They look up prices on Poshmark, which is a website that sells items that is not authenticated, and the pricing is not right. Which means they are undercutting you tremendously. I can't believe no one has ever mentioned/complained about this before. You would think there would be some kind of law about this but I guess there isn't. so I don't recommend selling your luxury items if you're trying to get rid of crappy mall brand clothes, then go ahead, but I seriously recommend not selling anything of luxury value. They wanted to offer me $160 bucks for a vintage LV clutch In VErY good condition that has a legit retail value of $800 and they went by people selling bags on poshmark for $300, which are not authenticated, which means they aren't priced accordingly. read more

I went on president's Day weekend. It was 20 percent off and they had jeans on clearance. I walked out with two pairs of jeans for under 30.00. What I didnt find was long sleeve tee shirts. You kind of have to hunt for specific items. Everything is in good shape though. The woman at the counter was more then friendly enough. I absolutely love this store. I have been shopping here since I was a teenager. The store is very well organized. Everything is put together in seasons, sizes, and color blocks. They sale name brands for 70% less than what you can buy it brand new! Some items truly are brand new with the tags still on them. I had been shopping at Torrid ONLY for years until I found this hidden gem. I will NEVER pay full-price again when I can come here and shop for a fraction of the cost for EUC items. Sometimes when I've got a free hour or two I'll head over to Clothes Mentor to scour through the racks & see what I can find. I've always been a fan of finding a bargain, and if you are willing to search through the never-ending racks at CM, there are definitely bargains to be found. Clothes Mentor will buy recent(ish) clothes from well-known brands such as Ann Taylor, Gap, JCrew, Lululemon, and Lilly Pulitzer. The clothes are in good condition and not too worn; usually priced accordingly for secondhand garments. One thing is that the store can be hard to navigate...it is organized by garment type, size, and then color coded. If you are looking for a grey cardigan size small you can generally know where to look, but there are almost too many areas (athletic wear, maxi dresses, shirts, long sleeve shirts, sweaters, skirts, dresses, pants, tank tops, dresses, etc.) which makes it hard to be a casual browser. Shopping here can definitely be overwhelming- My shopping strategy is to try on a LOT- and then buy only what I LOVE- because with low prices it can be tempting to buy things that you don't need. Sign up for their texts and emails as well to be in the loop with sale promotions when they basically are giving away clothes. They have a great feed on instagram as well, where they feature new and noteworthy items for sale. read more

On a quest to find cheap, yet cute and good-fitting maternity clothes, I found myself at Once Upon A Child. The kind workers there sent me to Clothes Mentor, a few doors down, because apparently that is where all the consignment maternity clothes relocated to. I walked into Clothes Mentor and was immediately overwhelmed at all the racks upon racks of used clothing. Better than Goodwill, but.... not entirely that fantastic. And not entirely 'up-to-date' as they'd like you to think. For that reason, I thought a lot of the items were priced a bit more than they should've been.... especially considering that I know the people who 'sold' these clothes to Clothes Mentor probably just earned back a dollar or two. I inquired about the maternity clothes and was directed to the back of the store, where there were two racks of clothing available. Most of the shirts were outdated and most of the jeans were far too big for me. I did, however, find a pair of Old Navy maternity skinny jeans that were a bit short on me but otherwise fit really well. For $10. Hmm. OK. When I approached the counter, I wasn't quite sure WHERE to make my purchase. There was a cluster of customers -- some with clothes to sell and some with clothes to buy -- waiting around. At one point, I was waiting for a register and several people kept cutting in front of me. There were so many workers behind the counter that I didn't understand why someone didn't take notice and offer to help me. Just.... kind of bizarre. I wanted to get out of there so badly that I nearly left the pants behind. Thankfully, someone finally acknowledged me, I bought the pants, and left. They've been my main maternity pants during my pregnancy. Yay. I..... probably won't come back here again. It was only desperation to find a pair of maternity jeans that weren't $60 which brought me here in the first place. Unless I have some other weird or special circumstance/event in the future that requires a unique piece of clothing I'll only need once or twice, I'll stick to buying new clothes at Target that only cost a few dollars more. read more

The employees here are so disrespectful it's unbelievable. When I dropped off my box of items, I had to wait at the counter for several minutes while 2 of them looked me in the eyes and then just kept chatting. When I tried to get their attention, they said someone would be there soon and I had to wait longer for a completely different person to join me. The wait time was ridiculous - I was told to be there at 6 and they weren't done with my things for another hour after that. The excuse was that they were short staffed but they seemed to have plenty of employees sitting around talking while only 1 went through the stack of drop offs. Then, come to find out, they had rejected my things. Which is fine, I know they can't sell everything. But the person who chose to reject it apparently did so sometime before 5:00 and then left without ever calling or sending me a message. So that's a round trip across town, gas money, and more than 2 hours of my time wasted. Save yourself the time and headache, sell your stuff online or take it to goodwill for the tax write off. read more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this store. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I have shopped here for years and I consistently find the best deals on designer stuff I normally couldn't afford elsewhere. I got my first pair of Gucci heels here! They were amazing! I find Lilly Pulitzer, Louis Vuitton Coach and Tory Burch (ALL AUTHENTIC!) at more than clearance sale prices. I paid $20 for a pair of practically unused coach rain boots that I wore for years. They also buy my gently used accessories/clothing/shoes/jewelry/watches/rings and give me cash or in store credit to buy more things. I LOVE their selection of J Crew jewelry! Let's make this plain and simple---For a place where you can buy and sell your gently-used clothes, they have way too many things on the racks that I would not consider "gently" used! I have tried selling clothes and accessories here several times and walked out with barely anything sold. The reason was they were not "current" fashion and not what they were looking for buying.. Now, I put the current fashion in quotes because if you walk around this store, you will know that most of the things would not fall under that category. The few things I was able to sell, they barely paid anything. I'm not a fashionista nor I am obsessed with the current fashion but I would like to buy items that are still recent enough that I don't look like I'm going to an oldies-themed party. I personally think that many items at this store are outdated, matronly and don't fall in the category of gently used. The reason why this is not a 1-star review is that some of the staff are nice and try to explain their reasons for not buying. Long story short, I don't recommend this place for buying or selling! If you're looking for a bargain on name brand clothing or want some cash for the old clothes in your closet, Clothes Mentor can fit the bill for both! I've shopped and sold at this location and I like it. While it's smaller than some other Clothes Mentor locations, there are some definite diamonds in the rough on the racks here. There are 2 racks dedicated only to Chico's and Lilly Pulitzer, a section of Coach bags, and countless garments and shoes from Ann Taylor, Loft, Banana Republic, J. Crew, Bebe, Arden B., Trina Turk, Talbot's and White House Black Market, just to name a few. This location also stocks maternity clothes, to keep you and your bump chic for the whole 9 months. My selling experience was favorable. I took in a laundry basket of old clothes and purses that I wasn't using anymore and wanted to clear out of my closet. It took much less than the 45 minutes they quoted me at, and I was happy with my offer. I've sold at consignment stores before and have been disappointed with the amount of time a sale takes and the low amount of money I make months later. With CM I have always been very happy with the amount of money I have gotten selling, and the bonus of cash on the spot is priceless. read more

I for one will never sell my items to this store after what I witnessed on Monday- Memorial Day. I was there quiet awhile while my husband was at the dr and seen several people dropping items off. The employees made fun of the items, said they smelled, wouldnt touch them, and they did this several times. Very unprofessional and rude. They were judgmental 18-old young girls. Staff was helpful and friendly! Especially Nicole, who greeted me, answered my questions, got me a dressing room, and was sure to let me know the return policy (all shoes are final sale) as I checked out. The reason for only 3 stars review is both price and selection. The prices, compared to other consignment stores, were high. $8.99 for a plain Old Navy brand tshirt? I can go to Old Navy and buy those exact shirts, brand new, for less. I was surprised to see such limited amounts of size 00/0 bottoms. As a petite woman it is frustrating seeing racks and racks of clothing but only being able to pick from from a 2ft long strip of the rack. There was a good amount of xs tops though! They were just overpriced for what they were, and many with pilling or pulled threads. Then not only was jewelry overpriced, but there were multiple necklaces that were damaged/obviously missing pieces. I did see that there is a regular evening event where everything in store is 20% off. This might make it worth a trip! read more

I've found my way into Clothes Mentor a few times. The first time, I was window shopping at Plato's Closet (for my teenage daughter) and found out that Clothes Mentor which was only a few doors down, was the same consignment shop concept. Clothes Mentor is for the more "mature" women's attire and accessories. Both times that I've been, I couldn't hardly stand the smell... I mean, do these people not wash their clothes before they bring them in here?! It smells like a mixture of wet dog, mildew and a few other things, but I think you get the whiff, I mean drift. The only reason I'm rating it a second star is that they carry name brands like Lilly Pulitzer, Coach and Ralph Lauren. You might have to wash whatever you buy a few times before wearing it though. read more

I come in here from time to time to sell clothes and sometimes I find great stuff while I am waiting for the offer on my clothes, but most of the time I don't buy anything. Once I found an awesome Free People dress that was probably originally over $250 for $20! Although the commercials emphasize that they have designer clothes, there are also lots of brands that you wouldn't recognize. I came in to sell some clothes and shoes on Sunday. They bought a Fossil dress from three and a half years ago (I know that it was that old because I bought it at an outlet in CA when I was there for my cousin's wedding), a necklace, and a pair of earrings for $7. I was happy with that price. It is more than I would have received at a garage sale! They passed on buying a pair of Nine West shoes because the cashier said that they are overstocked on shoes right now. I know why too, because as I was browsing the store I noticed a pair of Jessica Simpson shoes for $16 and a pair of Coach flats for $25. Those are great brands, but who wants to pay that much for used shoes? I just got a pair of Jessica Simpson strappy sandals at Dillard's during their end of season sale for $31. They need to evaluate some of their pricing. read more

I took my bin in today and after I left the store I went straight to my car to chill. Not five minutes later I got a text saying my clothes were ready. So of the items I took in, I expected a few to sell, they were nice and in good condition but unfortunately the women didn't even look in my bin to see them. Nothing that moved from when I dropped it off and there was no way they could even pretend to have looked at it in 5 minutes of less. Super annoying. When I asked why they weren't taken the explanation was that they were junior brands. I guess they missed the J. This a buy and sell resale shop for women's clothing. Sizes range from petite to misses to plus size. They carry shoes and accessories. They also carry maternity clothes. They will be used clothing year round and all seasons. They recently expanded their store sir it is bigger and seems they have the clothes sorted by size and colors together. It's probably hit or miss if you find something that will work for you. My recent visit was a miss, but that will change as they get new stuff in. I've never sold here so not sure how well they pay. I wouldn't call it an outstanding store but you can find good buys sometimes. Some item are priced well while others are a tad over priced when you could go buy new for the same price. The employees at clothes mentor treated me like crap! They were belittling and rude. I had previously taken my clothes to Platos closet and had about 2 bags leftover. I brought those over to clothes mentor and was talked down to for having American Eagle branded clothes in my bag. I stayed in the store and waited for them to go through the clothes and would catch them holding up my items in disgust, then rolling their eyes and tossing them to the side. My clothes were all in great condition and I had some J Crew, Urban Outfitters, and Lucky Brand items so there was no need for that. At the end the items they decided to keep were all FOREVER 21 brand. A lower quality American Eagle basically. Would not recommend. read more

I've shopped here many times over the past six or seven years. Good bargains are available , but the horrible customer service almost cancels it out. There can be four people at the counter with perhaps one register going while all others are immersed in examining clothes. I get it .., it's ongoing and time consuming , but when there are six people in line , could another person stop what they are doing for a bit and help? Friendliness is scarce. Twice I had the same clerk whose only words were " zip code ?" And a mumbled thank you. And the appearance of Clerks. There is one clerk whose hair is almost always a grease pit and not combed. I don't want to listen to Clerks talk about partying , boyfriends , etc. From other reviews , it seems my experienced is certainly not unique. read more

I really don't understand all of the negative comments. I was greeted by someone at the front of the store, who asked if I was lookin for anything specific then took me to what I was looking for and explained how the store was laid out. Like any second hand store, it's going to be hit or miss with the styles, sizes and colors, but I thought the selection was really great. I didn't notice any odor as other people have mentioned in their reviews, but you really should be washing the clothes you buy before wearing them anyway. When I was done, I was pointed in the direction of which register was for checking out, and the woman who helped me there was also very friendly. She chatted with me the whole time, two other women came in during the time she was helping me, and she made sure to greet them and let them know she would be right with them. You definitely do need to hunt around for something that will work for you, but I found vastly more options than In other, similar second hand stores. read more

I've sold a few things here. They're rather particular, which is understandable, and you won't get much, but if you know you'll never wear an item again, it's worth a try to see if they'll take it. I've purchased a few perfectly preserved high end tops (while waiting for a review of the clothing I'm selling) for only $10., so you can't beat that. It's worth a look-see if you've never been. I wanted to like this store. I really did. Good clothes for less money-- sounds great. Only, sadly, it isn't. For example, I found a blouse. Fit perfect. Loved the style. $18.00. Only problem is the blouse stunk of STRONG perspiration smell. I mean -- strong. I asked if the clothes were washed and cleaned before they accept them and they said yes but this was terrible. Not going to pay 18.00 for a shirt I may never be able to wear due to the odor. They offered to spray odor neutralizer on it but that would not have fixed the problem only masked it for the next unsuspecting buyer. Things are overpriced for what they are selling. read more

Customers and people wanting to sell clothes are treated as an inconvenience to the staff-- the very people who drive the store's business are turned away or treated as an afterthought by rude and curt managers who'd rather discuss personal drama behind the counter than actually consider customer needs and honor clients. I've witnessed managers discussing drug use on the job!! I even overhear these managers trying to invite employees to parties instead of actually paying any mind to the people they're employed to help. Although the prices are okay, I'd much rather take my business to an actual professional environment like Tj Maxx or Ross where I know I'll get new clothes and actually receive customer service-- not to mention I wouldn't be supporting the terrible service and unethical management standards at this place. read more

They have good sales sometimes, but overall the selection isn't the best. They occasionally have a good selection of designer items for reasonable price, but for their day to day prices I would say go to tj Maxx or marshalls and get the item new for a few more dollars read more

Wanted to leave an updated review. Clothes Mentor has recently expanded their store and the inventory is definitely larger. With the expansion, there is more room to walk between and around racks. Before the expansion, customers were sort of on top of each other while browsing. The racks are not as crowded with the extra room, so it's easier to see everything. There are more fitting rooms. I can't upgrade my rating to 5 stars until I shop here while not being pregnant and see how I feel about the rest of the store aside from the maternity sections. Very disappointing first (and last) trip to Clothes Mentor last night. I took two bags of clean, neatly folded, name brand clothing -- all in excellent condition. I was told they were not interested in even one item of my clothing. These were items from Ann Taylor, The Loft, Banana Republic, White House Black Market, The Limited. Not one item was worthy. But even worse, when I got my clothes back, they had been thrown back into my bags, wadded up. All in all, a very negative experience and I will never go back. read more

Some items are marked high(just because the well used tshirt says GAP or GUESS doesn't mean it's worth $14).i'd recommend this shop but don't expect to walk out with an entire wardrobe. Set your sites on just one or two pieces to add to an existing wardrobe and you'll think it was worth while. Almost forgot! You won't get much for what you sell but it's better than just dropping it off for nothing at the Goodwill, right? read more
