Very friendly and helpful. My kiddo is learning the trombone and we needed some basic cleaning items and we had no idea what to get. They made some recommendations and now my kiddo's trombone is hygenic. read more

Wow! What an AWESOME experience!! Susan and Brian are amazing! My son and I are both brand new to playing the Saxophone and they basically held our hands throughout the entire process. We were able to setup our rentals, pick up our instruments, and each establish individual lessons. Which is also another great option available because Brian is a Saxophone teacher with great competitive rates. We love having this business so close to home! Thank you Susan and Brian for answering all of our novice questions and providing the encouragement to become passionate about playing an instrument!! HIGHLY recommend this "Mom & Pop" local business!!! read more

Brian is rude. Instrument for my 4th grader was all rented out and asked if it would be cheaper to just buy off Amazon. He said that's nonsense and I can't advise you on that and got up and walked away. Need to work on customer service. Rented here in past for.my other kids. What's up with Brian's attitude? read more

They have a very organized store and very friendly owners. Currently, you have to stay outside and they will bring things to you to the front door. If you have to try instruments I'm sure they'll make arrangements for you to come inside. I just came by to buy strings and will definitely go to five stars once I have a chance to come back and physically go inside the establishment. read more

Terrific, kind, and friendly service here. We came for a clarinet repair, and the owners went out of their way to get it done before the holidays. I should add that they also came to the rescue months ago, when my son had a trumpet with a dented mouthpiece that he just couldn't remove. He tried two other music stores and they couldn't get it out ... but the folks at ClockTower did! This is now our go-to place for instrument repair and music needs. read more

I needed a violin repaired and it was so simple to just walk in and drop it off. I received a claim ticket and then returned in couple days for pick up. I wish I could say more, but it really was that simple! read more

Why go anywhere else?!? I've walked past this store many times, but never had a need to stop and shop. On this occasion, I needed to replace a specific guitar string and had my guitar with me. I walked in and asked if they could sell me a replacement string and rather than saying "sure, here you go, here's your string," Bruce offered to look at the guitar and check the other strings. He suggested that all the other strings could be replaced, but not necessary. I took him up on his recommendation and he also said he could his replace the strings for an additional $15. Better him than me, I thought. He told me it would take about 2 hours, so I left my guitar and said I would return later. He not only replaced our strings, he gave us titanium strings--the sound is so much cleaner and sharper. It took just over an hour. This is a small neighborhood shop that truly cares about their customers. Don't waste you time with big box, corporate music shops. This is the place to go!! I don't know why it took me so long to come here. read more

San Carlos is lucky to have this gem right in its downtown. The owners are both super kind and helpful every time we stop in, and always willing to help answer any questions a budding musician might have. They have a cool selection of guitars and ukes to purchase, and also rent band instruments for very reasonable prices. read more

In early April, Susan went above and beyond to help me get a ukulele for my nephew's birthday during the pandemic shelter in place. We exchanged several emails and spoke on the phone because the store was closed at the time. She advised me as to which uke would be best for him, placed the order since it wasn't in stock and within a week the beautiful instrument was delivered to my front door (I live near the store)! I'm so impressed with the service Clock Tower Music offered and am happy I was able to support a local business. My nephew loves his ukulele and will be taking it with him to his first year of college. Thank you Susan and Clock Tower Music! read more

It's a cute neighborhood music store. You'll find lots of music accessories as well as music books. A lot of the music books that I used while learning flute back in middle and high school were still being published, to my delight. The covers and the content I'm sure didn't really change over the years. I bought a flute music book that had a lot of hits from the 2010's. It seems like a fun, light read. I did notice that a lot of the books in the section seemed a bit worn on the edges, which indicated that perhaps people thumb through these books a lot? read more

I cannot recommend Clock Tower Music enough for instruments, books, accessories, anything you might need for your musical journey. I am a local piano and cello instructor and I get all of my materials from Clock Tower Music. They really care about their customers. There aren't many places left that have this level of customer service and quality. Susan and Brian are extremely helpful, especially during such a trying time. Thank you Clock Tower Music! read more

We love this place for all sorts of reasons! We have been able to procure guitar and drum lessons from outstanding teachers for our kids through them. They are conveniently located so picking up guitar strings and other supplies is easy. Susan and Brian are caring and great to interact with. Plus they contribute to the fantastic sense of community in San Carlos with things like having musicians play outside their store during the holidays. Definitely a worthy small business to support! read more

Very helpful, knowledgeable, and accommodating staff. My kids are tiny. They special ordered an 1/8 size cello and a 1/4 size viola. They also have great recommendations for private teachers. We highly recommend. read more

They have become an amazing resource for my family's evolving music needs. They referred us to a piano teacher for our eight year old as well as a piano tuner. We needed some Christmas sheet music and then for some other familiar songs for our burgeoning Chopin. Then, my wife turned to them to get her violin restrung. It might not be very big or well stocked, but they care about the community of which they are an important part. read more

Clock Tower Music is exactly what I'm looking for in a neighborhood music store!! The owner was so sweet and amazingly helpful. I'm debating whether I want to pick up an instrument, and he let me try some out. He also gave me a free flute fingering chart, which was a bonus! I'm used to going to the Guitar Center near Union Square NYC -- which is large, impersonal, and filled with people running around -- and leaving a bit stressed. Clock Tower Music was the opposite. All in all, it was a wonderful experience. STORE The store occupies a long space. Guitars and ukeleles hang on the walls, as well as instrument accessories. There's a rehearsal/instruction space in the middle and then there seems to be an open space in the back. CTM just started offering its first ukelele group lessons. read more

What a great, unpretentious little store! I just had a great experience here, where the owner took a look at my daughter's sax, fixed the octave bar on the spot, diagnosed the rest of the problems and agreed to fix it all for $25 in a couple of days. As a contrast, another music store down in Mountain View quoted me $75 and would have me wait 2 months to have it fixed, perhaps hoping that they would get some rental business from me. Thank you Clock Tower! I'm bringing all my business here from now on. read more

Love this amazing store; Brian and Susan are fantastic. So helpful! Our daughter was trying to decide what instrument to play - she was able to try many out and ended up with a trumpet - an incredibly affordable one to start with. Which is good because we will be heading back to check out trombones and saxophones since this year she wants to change it up! Can't say enough how fantastic this shop is :) read more

I look forward to going in any time I have the opportunity. Best small business music store in the world.

I called Clock Tower earlier this week to inquire about consignment of a 3/4 violin. They told me they do sell 3/4 partial size violins and so I should bring it in to have Brian assess its value. I specifically asked about Brian's hours at the store, and they assured me he is always in. So I drove down to the store with the violin, only to be told I needed to wait a minute because he had just stepped out. Obviously that's not a problem, but it turned out he had stepped out for lunch and (event though it was 2:30 pm). After waiting a while, an employee eventually called him and also specifically asked if he would be interested in looking at a 3/4 size violin for consignment. He said yes, so I waited until he came back from lunch. Before even looking at my violin, he stated that he doesn't consign 3/4 size violins. Excuse me?! Thanks, Clock Tower, for the worst customer service ever. read more

It's a really small place so not the greatest selection, but really great prices. The lady behind the counter was nice and helped my inept ass with guitar strings. Clock Tower Music has the feel of an old neighborhood store. You get personalized service from their very knowledgeable staff. Brian, who does the repairs, has been exceptional! I cannot count how many times he has tightened a screw or tweaked something on a sax to make it sound like a new instrument, often for nothing. Compared to other music stores, Brian has always given honest estimates, going over the whole list of recommended repairs and pointing out which are most necessary and which can wait. He has never overcharged for repair work. In fact, I find Clock Tower to have the most reasonable repair pricing out of all shops we have tried between south San Francisco and Redwood City. It probably helps that he is a sax player. The other day, I was considering purchasing new reeds. My plan was to buy a whole box and get a bulk discount, but the owner of the shop was quick to point out that I should ask the music teacher first, because my child might need to graduate to a different reed this year. So, instead of spending a considerable amount of money on something that might be rendered useless in a month or two, she saved me the trouble and money, and gave me valuable insight. These are qualities that I find hard to come by and appreciate greatly! read more
