The Meeting Room Coffee Shop - This sign and a bunch of other religious/political propaganda was plastered all over the building. Not very pleasant.

What is this place? Is it a meeting room for old guys to yuck it up and talk politics or religion?…read moreIs it supposed to be a coffee shop? Is it a venue for music? I'm not sure. In my opinion and based on my experience here, it is not a coffee shop. Tim Horton's it is not. A small town cafe serving up coffee drinks and pastry it is not. I don't honestly know what it is or is trying to be, except that it drove me away in a fast hurry. The weird signs and posters all over the windows and doors and the life size stand cutouts of certain political figures, ones that will certainly bring out either extremely hot or cold emotions, and nothing that wouldn't provoke a response, were all weird and seemed destined to keep a large segment of the population away. I found that strange and insulting. The overly religious and preachy tone to the signs and the political sayings and cutouts were just too much. It was like the owners don't want anyone who thinks differently than them to come inside. Okay. Is that good business sense? I don't think so and I've never seen a business place so much emphasis on the owner's personal opinions so much. I know that I'm not in the least bit tempted to go back, other than to walk by out of idle curiosity. I walked in and saw nothing but a weird little makeshift storefront passing itself off as a cafe. I was expecting a typical coffee shop, although I knew from the signs plastered all over the door and windows that it would be no ordinary coffee experience. Still, I would expect something that seemed at least like it was attempting to be a coffee shop with various coffee drinks, etc. This was a strange meeting room for people of a similar ilk only. Just serving a cup of coffee does not make it a coffee shop/cafe. Where's the espresso and lattes? Forget about it. I thought it was dirty and unkempt, really unorganized and filled with political and religious signs, sayings and paraphernalia, and that it did not resemble any cafe I've ever been in since coffee shops became a thing when I was in grad school. This was not a a cafe or coffee shop and putting the phrase "coffee shop" in the business name is kind of false advertising in my opinion. I was uncomfortable and immediately felt the need to leave. This is also listed as a music venue on Yelp. Where? It didn't strike me as a music venue at all. If some guy walks in off the street with a guitar and strums a bit, does that make it a music venue? Well, I didn't even see any guy with a guitar of the street, so I don't really get it, but if that makes it a music venue, that's news to me and everyone else I know. I didn't see anything that looked or felt like a regular coffee shop here. It looked like a meeting room for a bunch of guys with like-minded opinions to drink black coffee and wax poetic about the way the world used to be or what's wrong with American society or whatever. I was turned off and offended and will not return. I found the signs and paraphernalia off-putting, upsetting and the obvious undertones unsettling and even bigoted. Signs telling potential customers and anybody walking by the "right way to live" and everything were too much of a turn-off. I was curious to see what it was like and found out for myself and came away unimpressed. The owners are entitled to their opinions, but they're supposed to be running a business. I'm entitled to spend my money and time where I choose to and that's my choice as a consumer with disposable income.
