Going to Modern Woodmen Park is a must for any baseball fan. It is one of the oldest parks in the nation. Many MLB stars got their careers started here in Davenport, Iowa. This family friendly stadium offers a wide variety of entertainment for the whole family. If the great game of baseball isn't for you, check out the different amusement rides. The Ferris wheel is huge and gives spectators a glimpse of the field and mighty Mississippi River. The concessions have many great foods and drinks to purchase at reasonable prices. You won't go broke here like at a MLB stadium. Where else can you watch a baseball game, see river boats cruise the river, and hear trains fly down the tracks? Modern Woodmen Stadium is the answer.

On one side is a bridge and another side, an amusement park with Ferris wheel and merry go round. I walked around a lot. The layout is graded up high, as you had to walk 20 steps up to it. The reason 4/5 stars is lack of good concessions. A couple of places such as a Mexican grill weren't open. The line for this one grill was insanely long the whole night. The Whiteys ice-cream did not have malt cups, supposedly sold out the night before. Piss poor planning for a crowd. I settled for Cheesesteak nachos without onions and peppers in a helmet. Also shared a chip witch or chocolate chip cookie with ice-cream between it. The stadium was really iconic and cool. The Ferris wheel lit up at night. Just work on better concessions with product and have more open. Review 94 in 2023.

It was early in the day, and the staff let us just look around and it was really huge and clean and they had just a ton of options as far as a gym or sports complex goes. I like that the technology is modern enough to bring the bumpers up when you vindicated that is needed for that child as well as they have assist to roll the ball down the lane. We did notice some inconsistencies with the scoring as the unit that would drop down to pick up the pens, wood in advertently knock them over so the scoring was a little off. On weekends, it is five dollars per person per game. Service was good, the food was meh as we just had pizza, and I found it quite greasy and already not agreeing with me. The beer was cold though, and a Michelob ultra draught was $4.50, which we find pretty reasonable compared to what we pay at home It is super loud in the arcade area and you need to get through that before you get back to the bowling alley, we found the sound levels in the bowling alley just fine. I'm not sure. I could spend an entire day here though, lol. There were a ton of people here Playing in Ball leagues and such. Pretty active place and it looks like they do pretty well.

The journey there is part of the charm, really. You drive out to what feels like the middle of nowhere, then you hit this gravel road that leads you right into the heart of it all. It's super laid back you just pop a donation in for entry and parking, and then you're free to explore. Once you walk onto the grounds, it's like stepping back in time. There's even the house from the movie right there that you can actually rent out if you want to soak in the atmosphere completely. They've really thought of everything to make it a perfect day out. You can grab a cold drink at the bar, treat yourself to some ice cream, or hit up the stand for classic ballpark fare like burgers and hot dogs, plus plenty of snacks and for all you baseball gearheads, they've got a fantastic Baseballism store on site too. One of the coolest parts was seeing a guy walking around dressed as Shoeless Joe Jackson it just adds to the magic of the place. If you're planning a visit, I recommend coming in August. That's when the cornfields surrounding the property are at their tallest, making for the most picturesque and quintessential summer backdrop. It truly is a fantastic time.

I have actually never seen the whole entire film - I know, I know, it's gonna happen now - but I've seen enough clips through my life to know the plot and how it's the most famous baseball field in history. And it definitely is moving. Especially as you walk out of the corn. Such a cool experience, make sure you have $20 cash on you to donate to help with upkeep. I'll be back again one day for sure.
