We saw an advertisement that the Chicago snowballs were going to be in Clinton, Iowa, and we've been trying to get Savannah Bananas tickets for years, so we jumped on this to take our grandkids It was $100 for two adults and two kids for a midday Sunday ballgame. It's general seating so we arrived just about when they opened the gates and sat right behind home plate - honestly, in this location we really didn't need to arrive that early to get good seats but had no idea how busy it would be. I would say seating was maybe 60% old so there was plenty of room. It's quite the party when you come in with high-fives and loud music and great fun- they get the kids to sign their bats when they arrive and they spend the rest of the time mingling when they're not in the outfield - signing hats, balls, whatever and taking pictures. The game was SO fun- the kids loved it. The dancing; weird inning rules and scoring, it was great family fun. I want to say an extra thank you to this facility for having reasonable food and drink pricing. We always get SO gouged when we go to these places and we felt like we could enjoy a snack without taking out a mortgage on the house. We did have just a little bit of a delay as there was lightning in the area and we had to wait for the storm to pass, but they started the game right back up as soon as it was clear. during that time; the players were back out, mingling with the fans in the stands, signing autographs and taking photos and just generally having a good time meanwhile, the DJ was playing wonderful songs like purple rain and rainy days and Mondays, it was just hilarious Also, if you hang around to the end, they open the gate and allow all the kids onto the field, and there was this massive group of kids and players were leading them to run all the bases, it was just a really fun time and great interaction for the kids to be able to meet these ball players Thank you to this organization for all you do to make baseball fun- very appreciated and we got to make some wonderful memories with our grandkids! read more

I've been coming here many many years. Fought and sent letters to Major League baseball to save them as an affiliated team. Went to the ballpark today, apparently it rained and their mats and things were wet. Gift shop had lights on, two guys sitting in chairs. Told us to shop was closed. We told them we're from St louis, they said sorry we wiill open tomorrow. Lost money, lost loyalty. We needed new Clinton shirts, etc. Oh well. The charm is gone. read more

Going in I had higher expectations to see a baseball stadium originally built in 1937. Ashford University Stadium is small, even for a mid-A baseball stadium. The structure itself is much smaller than anticipated and the only real remnant of the past is the bronze plaque hanging on the wall outside the stadium. Perks for attending a game here are the ticket and vendor prices. General Admission (bench style seating) is $7, hot dogs/drinks/pretzels are all around $2 apiece. Parking is free as well. The ballpark itself is very intimate. Maybe it's just the game we attended, but very few people showed up when we visited, making every heckle from the stands seem like it was broadcast over the PA. We sat near a couple of regulars who made the game more enjoyable. The amenities here are somewhat scant. Despite the Mississippi River in the distance, the ballpark has no scenery or decor to enhance the setting of the field. The raffle lady was annoying, passing by every couple innings and she doubled as security..shewing people out of box seats who only paid GA. Because of the small environment and lack of fans my son was able to stand by the dugout and get seven autographs from Lumberkings players prior to the game. During the game he also had four game used baseballs tossed to him from other fans or a player on the field. Those made his day. Therefore, my three stars here go to the locals who attend and the people on the field. They saved us from a ho-hum game and disappointing stadium. read more

This was my first visit to this ballpark in over two years. In the past I would've given it two maybe three stars at best. But I was impressed by how things have changed. I saw a lot of young people with upbeat personalities working there. While years ago there were too many grumpy old folks with salty attitudes. I came here for an 11:00 am game. I might come back on a Fri. or Sat. night game. For a better "view" of how things are. The food and affordable prices remains the strength of this place. Not to mention the free parking. Ashford University Field is a no-frills ballpark. But still a good destination to watch a minor league baseball game. read more

Played here in 2010 with Seattle and it's kind of a dump. Lol I'm laughing to myself right now knowing nobody is gonna look at this review of a low A ball park but owell.. City as a whole looked like it got nuked and then sorta got rebuilt but not really lol. I lived in Indian Village Apts there and that's probable where the players still get housed. They have one casino there and a grain factory. O yea... And a dog food and road kill processing plant nearby.. Smelled them n heard about them but never saw lol.. read more

This is an older minor league ballpark but still a good place to see a game. There were a fair number of families at first but as the night cooled, the place started to empty. Food was good (try the Buzz Saw), beer selections marginal. read more

Baseball, albeit minor league, at its best! Great park, complete with obstructed views. Down third base line is a great party/ picnic area. Food offerings are the standard, nothing special. Decent prices, but parking is free which is a nice bonus. Worth the trip to watch a ballgame on the banks of the Mississippi. read more

I just love this ballpark! It exudes character with its' old concrete construction, tin roof and bleacher seating. And the updates with the playing field, additional concessions stands and the picnic area all make for a pleasurable experience of enjoying a baseball game here! Top this all off with plenty of free parking at the stadium and across the street, and what more could one ask for?! Oh, yes, and to know that America's Greatest River lies just beyond the outfield! My suggestion for a perfect event..... get into town early, go to Rastrelli's Italian Restaurant for a delicious dinner and then on to the ballpark to watch the Lumberkings beat the Cougars ( or some other team! ) Clinton, you have a right to be proud. And please, do not sell your Lumberkings to an absentee owner! Your community ownership is invaluable. Small town so you dont expect much. Inexpensive which it should be. No budweiser products. No pepsi or coke either, only Dr pepper soft drink products. Only coors light and miller light and some smaller brands. Food was high school flavor. Nice people but no reason to go there unless you like going to different ballparks. The announced attendance was ridiculously high compared to how many people were actually there. The announced attendance was more than double what was really there.
