For my 700th YELP REVIEW!! I forgot that Cleveland Clinic had an Urgent Care so I was happy to drive over after a wasteful and unhelpful experience at other Urgent Care. Wonderful customer service. Attentive and caring staff. Actual concern for patient care. I visited on Thursday, 27 June 2024 in the morning for a checkup on a certain part of my body but it turned out nothing was wrong with me. All the basic tests were done (blood pressure, pulse, plus another important test) by a nurse and then I saw the PA-C (Physician Assistant - Certified) on call (there must not have been an MD on call. The PA-C reviewed the other mayor test and told me that my body was fine. What is said say about stress and not drinking enough water can actually cause a reaction in your body. My experience here was amazing compared to the Lakewood Urgent Care. The young lady at the front desk greeted me then checked me in which was a smooth process because I have been to Cleveland Clinic in the past. I waited less than 5 minutes and a nurse assisted me by taking my important vitals (weight, blood pressure, pulse, and another test that will remain nameless due to privacy health reasons. I forgot her name but she is a Serbian lady who was very professional and nice. Finally, I saw the PA-C who reviewer everything that the nurse went over and it turns out that nothing is wrong with me. I'm healthy but I came to Urgent Care because I felt something was off with my body. The PA-C gave me things to do in that week to follow and sent me on my way. I did not need any medication. I never visited this Urgent Care site because I sat on hold for at least 15 minutes waiting for someone to answer the phone, and no one did. I wanted to know if they we equipped to give stitches if I needed them, but after waiting that long on the phone I figured it would be better just to go to somewhere where I knew they could help me. Do they not hav a secretary? If they can't answer the phone how long would it take to get in to see someone? read more

As a nurse who went here for an illness-- don't come here if you want quality care. You're better off somewhere else

I went there to see my son and the service there was OK. The PA that saw my son Rx Antibiotic and I was told that I should not use it unless the redness and the fever are present. (I would say that she was right comparing to what my ER doctor, who saw my son a day later, said. Nonetheless I have worked before in urgent care myself.) Though wanted to mention that PA did not touch and see from close the forehead bite. Could have been something still there ( ex. tick bite?). Also my other concern was the work excuse note that they gave me. It is written in it my son`s name and they will not put in my name even though I brought my son in to be seen. Insane as I told the front lady who insisted and stated "We do not put the name of anyone else other than the patient`s name in the excuse" even after I asked her "How can my 4 year old son be by himself at your Urgent care. She cared less. I showed her the next day visit of my son at ER (both the urgent care and ER are Cleveland Clinic Subsidiaries.). At ER I was given the note in my name but they at Urgent care will not. That is something that they MUST change ASAP. I mentioned above that I do have Urgent care experience and there is no excuse for what they do. On a side note I should give them the credit for checking us in and out fairly quick but there were no patients at the time we went there. Also the front desk did not greeted us but instead she said: "What is the phone number to begin with" I would have suggested to start off " What brings you in today" as I was there just to get the excuse note. read more

Went there for severely swollen foot & ankle they took x-rays Cpn not Dr. Looked at it looked at X-rays & said " nothing is broken it's just a bad sprained ankle do the rice & wrap it. Ill perscripe something for the swelling " your all done" & walked out. SHE DIDNT EVEN ACE MY ANKEL OR ANYTHING....... WTF. I went here a while back and had a bad experience, but didn't leave a review. Part of my experience was having some test results that the doctor couldn't even be bothered to look at. I left thinking, "This is what it would be like if my 'know-it-all uncle' became a doctor". I didn't leave a review because I thought, "he probably gets people coming in here all the time that have nothing wrong with them or who think they know what's wrong with them because they checked WebMD". However, my co-worker and her husband recently went here and they both had terrible experiences (that I won't go completely into because I don't want to talk about someone else's medical exam and because it's unfair to use someone else's experience to write a review)... so I decided I should say something. read more

This is so conveniently located right near my house. Staff is professional and efficient Doctors seem competent and professional as well. They do have X-ray capability which has helped with my kids minor injuries so often, to avoid the big emergency room bill. We've come for allergic reactions, strange rashes and strep checks. Nothing is worse than waking up on New Year's Eve day with a small ailment that you want to get checked out and finding out your primary doctor is on vacation. This is where Urgent Care is supposed to come in, eh? Well, trust me when I say, this is not the Urgent Care for you. Suffice to say, when the Physician has to be asked twice to review the problem, then says "oh, that's not my specialty". Followed by "What do you want me to do?" You know you are in the wrong place. I went for a COVID19 test; they had me sit in the waiting room for 2 1/2 hours. I decided to leave because no one seemed to care about me and also they kept admitting people that have just arrived. When I said I wanted to leave, they didn't even care, just informed me that I was still gonna be charged. Worse hospital I've ever been to. read more

Many of the negative reviews I see on here were for the urgent care prior to Cleveland clinic so I hope people take that into account because it is a much different place now and I have been to both. Care and payment go hand in hand for any business. I make just above poverty line, no ins. And had a large infection on my finger (i work hospitality) so that is an issue with my line of work. I stopped in, front desk was respectful and polite. I was the only person in the lobby, was sent back quickly. The doctor came in, didnt look at or bother to try to have a conversation, just handed me two prescriptions and went to leave the room and say have a good day. I had to stop the doctor, ask if she could look at my finger at least tell me some other things i could do, and to tell me what the prescriptions were. From there i went to the rite-ade by my house where the pharmacist even said "did your doctor know you didnt have insurance?" Because she prescribed me an antibiotic that costed 70 dollars. I couldnt afford to pay that. So i could only get one of 2 prescriptions given. Then i get a bill for 367 dollars. I have had 3 different conversations in regards to this bill. And the lack of care. The last one was just insane. The lady told me it was my responsibility to go back to the urgent care and ask for a new prescription. My response was, I was not made aware that was an option. Nor did i know i could do that. The lady had no response. She then said they are waiting on me to fill some paperwork out. I asked if i was sent anything via mail/email. She said no. I am supposed to know that i have to file for medicade. I then asked her how am i supposed to do this, And i quote " I don't know I've never been asked that before" The lady then said, the doctor did all that she should have and i am responsible to pay the bill in full. When she is the liaison between both parties and couldn't even help with basic questions. Or assist to the questions that i had. read more

I was out of my coverage area with my HMO, so I needed to find a doctor's office that could treat my problem AND wasn't too expensive. I had a wonderful experience and found Dr. Smith took his time, really listened and seemed to actually care. I had a problem later at the pharmacy with my prescription (pharmacy's fault). I was really worried because normally with my HMO that can take at least 24 hours to get sorted out. But Rocky River really went above and beyond and got it sorted out for me. I will absolutely use them again if needed and highly recommend! read more

I had misgivings the moment I walked in. it was dirty and unkempt; the baseboards were missing, garbage cans in the waiting area were full and there was a layer of dust on the counter. Check-in and the waiting area are one big open space; so if you expect a modicum of privacy during the intake process, you can forget it. the music was being played way too loud. normally I like classical music, but when you don't feel well, it just grates on your nerves. The receptionist couldn't seem to keep track of the fifteen people still waiting to be seen by the doctor. I heard one person say they'd been there for close to two hours, but what ultimately 'sealed the deal' was witnessing an exchange between the doctor and his receptionist over a phone call. Something screamed 'a$$hole' so I told her to take me off the list. Despite feeling really sick, I couldn't get out the door fast enough. read more

I came in to get a puffy itchy eye and itchy neck checked and I had also woken up with a sore throat and mind you, this was all on the left side of my face (and the left side of my throat), so I thought it was odd. of course they have ask about the COVID, so they asked me if I had any symptoms and I said i do have a sore throat on the left side. the women at the front desk acted like I had just murdered someone like covid is the only Thing happening in this world. the doctor made me reschedule because I had A SORE THROAT. shouldn't you (most likely vaxxed) doctors know that a sore throat could mean a million different things ? I didn't even come in for it. There is so much more going on in this world and they act like this is the only problem. Staff was nice to me but waited a long time, dr seemed short uninterested with not a great caring personality. Gave me medicine but wouldn't comply for a note for my job--I complained about my ears he saw nothing. I just got back from a wonderful urgent care at westgate plaza in Fairview with medication for a sinus and ear infection!!! read more

These people are assholes. I used to go here because it was the closest non ER facility that took my insurance. Dr. Justin Smith in particular is a condescending jerk who, when asked normal, reasonable questions that a patient concerned with their body and health would want to know in order to better understand what he is telling you, or to know what other options you might have, immediately begins talking down to you and says things like "You can either do what I say you should do, or not." I'll tell you the story of the last time I will ever go there: I was riding my bicycle down Detroit Road in late May 2011, and happened to have an accident where I flipped over my handlebars and broke my left arm. I happened to be less than 500 feet from this facility, and managed to make it over there. It was late in the day, close to their closing time, but by my cell phone (which keeps accurate time, synced with the carrier) I still had 5 minutes before their doors should have been locked. But locked they were. I knocked and the nurse came and talked to me, I explained what happened and that I was sure I had a broken arm, and she turned me away, referring me to Lakewood Hospital's ER. She didn't so much as offer a bag of ice or a band-aid. I complained to the Ohio State Board of Medicine and received a letter from them almost a year later, to the effect that they had reviewed the complaint and elected to take no disciplinary action. I suppose in a way, I was lucky -- had I gotten in, they would have treated me. A month prior, I went here seeking relief from a bulging lumbar disc that was causing sciatica. They did x-rays and told me I had socliosis. I went to my regular doctor a week later when I was able to get an appointment with him, and they did x-rays of me, this time standing up rather than lying down as they did at Rocky River Urgent Care, and told me to my relief that I did not have scoliosis, and that even if I did, scoliosis does not by itself cause back pain. Because they did my x-rays laying down, I happened to be laying down with my back curved, and the nurse who did my radiography didn't notice this, and apparently didn't know that back x-rays should be done standing. read more

I'm from another state and got sick while in Cleveland. I went here on a Sunday around noon expecting a long wait. There was almost no wait at all. They got me in and out. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. It was clean, and I didn't have to wait in the waiting room either. They were even willing to work with me on a low budget because my insurance doesn't work out of state. If I could I would fly here just to go to an urgent care when needed, I honestly would. so, this was a weird experience. i headed in here because my regular doctor's office was booked. the nurse was incredibly helpful, patient, and kind. you can walk right in and be seen in a few minutes, which is nice. the doctor on the other hand, was totally weird. he was very brief with me, and recommended i get a chest xray for a cough i've been having. once he told me there was nothing visible, he prescribed me an inhaler. i expressed my concern about side effects, and he basically told me it was up to me to fill the prescription. he never gave me any other options and didn't listen to any of my concerns. i later learned he doesn't have his m.d. hmm. i will say, that if this cough keeps up, i'll be heading back to my regular doctor. read more

DO NOT GO HERE, NO MATTER HOW CLOSE AND CONVENIENT IT IS. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. I went in with a severely sore throat in conjunction with an ear infection. Because I can't currently afford health insurance, they said the base price was $97 ... fine, whatever, I really needed to be seen. I've got issues with my ears, they offered to flush them to the tune of $63 so the doctor could look in and tell me I have a middle ear infection (which I 'd already figured out since I've had a few before and know how they feel). Being short on cash, I declined ... wish I'd had the sense to decline the throat culture testing which cost $45. After declining the flushing, I very clearly and concisely told the doctor I wanted him to prescribe me an antibiotic for my ear since I've been steadily getting worse for over a week. This jerk gives me a script for OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATION. Never again will I waste my time on these money hungry jackals. It would seem once I voiced my financial concerns and they'd squeezed all they could out of me, the doctor could not have cared less about actually helping me to get better. read more

Dr. and staff were friendly and comforting to a big scary guy who's a huge baby when it comes to doctor visits. Got in and out in record time compared to previous experiences with other similar med centers (about 40ish minutes). Dr. Smith and staff definitely have my business in the future for non emergency medical needs that require more urgency than waiting to see my overbooked family practitioner. Thanks Doc! read more

I have been to this Urgent Care Facility several times over the past 5 years or so, and my experiences have always been positive. During my last visit, I was taken care of by Dr Rachel McGuirk, who was apparently filling in for one of the regular doctors. She, the nurse, and the office staff were all incredibly nice and helpful. They took plenty of time to explain my options and did not rush my decision as an uninsured patient. Dr McGuirk was also honest with me, letting me know that the most expensive option (stitches) probably wasn't necessary and if she were working with a family member she would advise them that the glue would do the job for about a quarter of the price. And, after fixing my chin, they even gave me the remaining glue to take home. I live about 25 minutes from this facility but would not hesitate to return because I trust the work they do. read more

i walked into rocky river urgent care with a bleeding left hand index finger and the ladies took me right back to the treatment room to get my hand soaking in beta-dine solution while I waited for Doctor Justin Smith to come in and take a look at my index finger cause it needed 8 stitches. Linda and Mindy did a fantastic job of taking my vital signs while I was at rocky river urgent care I was treated Great and I had wonderful care. read more

I read all the bad reviews and had second thoughts about visiting this facility, but I am glad I did. They got me in and evaluated right away. Took urine sample ruled out one potential, took an x-Ray ruled out another. And they did this all in 75 minutes! Dr. Justin Smith was attentive and gave me options as far as further testing and treatments for a potential infection. I was concerned before visiting, but I would recommend this facility to anyone that asked. read more

DO NOT GO HERE - WARNING!! I can honestly say I have NEVER been "treated" so poorly by a "doctor". He was incredibly flippant when I came in, and when I repeatedly indicated that my kidney was the problem, he roughly proceeded to punch both of my sides to find out. When I cried out in pain and begged for him to stop he left the room and I did not see him again. The staff administered the rest of the care and was very sympathetic and nice. I almost pity them for having to work with such an awful person. Funny thing - I went to the emergency room directly after where they recognized right away that I had a serious problem and they immediately admitted me to the hospital where I spent 3 days in the intensive care, but Justin Smith just sent me home with a shot and advised some bed rest. He even gave me a prescription for Tordol - when I took it to the pharmacy they wouldn't fill it because it damages the kidneys and that was where I was having a problem!! I waited to give this review as I did not receive a charge and I wanted to discuss it before I left negative feedback. I did not hear from Justin Smith or his office at all until I received a bill almost 3 months later requesting my insurance information. I had not heard from him previously regarding my test results that he charged me for or anything else. When I called Justin Smith's office to discuss my disappointment, the "doctor" called me back directly. He implied that the only reason I was calling was because I was poor and could not pay my bills?!? He also let me know how busy he was - odd that he would have time to call me himself, but whatever. He also let me know that money was the bottom line for him. I gladly told him that I would send over my insurance information and then spend every opportunity I could warning others about his shoddy bedside manners, treatment and aftercare. I went there tonight to be seen for what I'm pretty sure is a sinus infection. I currently do not have insurance due to switching jobs. I walked in at 8:30pm. The exact time that they stop taking patients because they close at 9. The doctor was sitting at the front desks with the nurses talking, obviously no other patients were there to be seen. The nurse called me up and asked me why I was there. I told her. The doctor looked at me and rolled his eyes. Then the nurse told me because I didn't have insurance I had to lay $97 up front AND leave my credit card on file or they would not see me. I did not have the money as I was not expecting to pay that much. They refused to help me and told me to leave. This is the most unprofessional, confused, rude group of people at a medical office that I have ever been to!!! Most any medical office usually fits that description, but this group goes above and beyond to not return calls, think they are putting you on hold and talk to other people but they never did, ask why you are there 12 times while you are sick! They even went so far as to send someone in to splint me up before the doctor came in and told me there was anything wrong with me! On a previous visit my test came back positive for strep and they "forgot" to call me for 2 weeks!!!! My 2 visits here are my LAST!!! These guys are horrible!!!!! read more

I've had my own negative experiences from this place in the past, so I won't go here anymore due to their rude and uncaring staff. I'm writing this on behalf of my husband who was there 2 weeks ago for treatment of pink eye. The Doctor prescribed a medication that did not have a generic, and cost $180.00 to fill! My toddler son had pink eye the very next week, and was prescribed from his pediatrician a generic medication that cost $1.87. Yesterday I went to UH Urgent Care on Clague for double pink eye, and my medication also cost $1.87. This Dr. is obviously getting kickbacks on medications. Beware. read more

We were visiting Cleveland for a sports tournament and I brought my daughter in for an ankle injury. This was the wort experience ever!! The facility is dated, messy, and overpowered by air freshener. While checking in the "Doctor" was sitting behind the desk, leaning back in a chair and watching movies on his phone. He entered the room and NEVER even touched my daughters ankle. He looked at it and told the nurse to get a X-ray then later stepped in the room and said "you did not break it, ice it and elevate it, have a good day". They never even took X-rays of the area my daughter reported pain. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. read more

Awful experience! Staff is rude. The doctor is pompous ass. He talked down to me like I was so inferior to him. Place does not look clean. They automatically withdrew money from my bank account before I ever got a bill from them. They also messed up a first blood test and had to call me back in to give another. They never called back to tell me the results. Ending up going to the Richard Jacobs Cleveland Clinic in Avon a few days later as a "follow-up". NIght and day difference.
