Ben's crew did a great job on our exterior house paint project last year, so I hired him again to…read morerefinish our elevated deck and make some necessary repairs. The repairs were well done, but the crew he subcontracted for the stain job appeared to be inexperienced in general, and with oil-based stain in particular; they rushed the deck finish (starting at 130pm on a hot Friday), which wound up very sloppy -- dribbles of paint, missed spots, footprints, no attention to detail. Ben arranged for the crew to come back and sand down the stain and refinish, and although the result was better the 2nd time, the additional coat of "one coat" stain led to a finish that looks like paint; it's glossy and ugly, and not what we thought we'd get. Ben says the gloss will go away "eventually," which is small consolation. This could have been all been avoided, or at least mitigated, with proper supervision of his subcontractor.

I could have done it myself and rented a sprayer. But I would have had to buy tarps, and a lot of tape, and better ladders etc. and it was just too daunting. So the walls weren't getting painted. Jim did the whole job in a day for $700 and with a guarantee. He used the best paint, and would come back to touch-up any missed spots, but we haven't found any. No mess, no bother, no straining my neck and shoulders, no clean-up, and no rentals to return. Well worth the price.

We are sure glad we did! First of all, you will be hard pressed to find a nicer and more honest person than Jim. Second, he is VERY skilled in his craft. Our home looks BEAUTIFUL! The quality of the paint job is second to none. Jim also provided a color consultant. This is something that we would never have thought of. We had Shannon from Shannon Campbell Designs out to our home, and we went with colors that again, we would have never thought of. Our home colors are beautiful, and we have NEVER seen out exact color combo! Trust me, we spent literally months looking at homes, websites, etc to choose our colors. Jim and his crew pressure washed, prepped, and painted the house quickly. They left NO mess. Our painted decks were a total mess. They were so ugly that we used to close the slider door blinds when guests came over. Jim explained the correct paint to use so the deck could "breathe" and guaranteed that the decks paint won't peel again. Speaking of guarantees: Jim will come out annually for three years to inspect the paint, make sure all is well, and that we are happy. And finally, Jim told us that the paint job didn't require as much time to paint and prep it, so Jim cut the price of the job by $700.00! He could have kept the money and we still would have been thrilled. We were beside ourselves with Jim's honesty. This type of customer service is sorely lacking in our society.
