Matt was on time with his estimated project completion and his communication throughout the process was really great. Next, I called JM Basements in Bunker Hill, and I was immediately impressed with Jeff and his son-in-law, Matt. They're both delightfully well-mannered, polite and knowledgeable. Within two minutes of his arrival, it was obvious that these two guys knew what they were doing and that they'd been doing this a long time. Jeff Mortland surveyed my situation and then sat down and added up a few numbers and presented me with a bid: $10,600. Jeff and Matt showed up right when promised and did a perfect job. And there's this too: They're both just really nice guys who care about their work and want to make sure the customer (that's me) is 100% happy with the finished project. Jeff Mortland is one of the most reliable contractors you're going to find, period. I was so very impressed with him and his company. BTW, I'm also an architectural historian and author of several books, and I wouldn't recommend JM Basement Waterproofing unless I trusted them implicitly.

Getting a quote for the job was easy enough. We had contact a couple of times about the product…read morethat they were planning to use on our roof. It took some time to be next on the list, first due to the weather delaying the job before ours and then it was the manufacturer of the metal itself. Their machine broke down and they couldn't finish the order for our house. We were given a start date that changed several times. The last start date we got was April 19th. When they did show up, they had a nice sized crew of men who got to work and got the back half of the house stripped, cleaned, water damage spots repaired and new cover in place. That only took a couple of hours. They did not damage anything in the process. We found a few stray nails over the next couple of days but nothing major. The 'roofer' showed up an hour or so after they had the roof ready to be covered with metal roofing. The roofer and one other person were all we ever saw. The hours that they worked we typically short. Most days they started at 10 or later and were done by four or earlier. It took several days to get the back half of the house covered with the new roof. And that is the easy part of the roof. In the mean time it rained and it was very stressful to listen to rain hitting the roof of your home, most people's largest asset, and not know if the roof would leak or not. Now, I understand that the weather is out of the control of mere humans but the stress was there just the same. Then due to rain and/or the threat of rain it took some time to get the front half of the house striped and ready for the metal roofing. Again, the large crew came in and had the roof cleared, repaired and prepped. This time they did do some damage. A window screen was damaged by falling debris. A hole was put in the siding when a piece of plywood failed, broke and fell against the house. Also, some of the plants in the landscaping were damaged and some may not recover from the damage. The roofer did start his work later that day. Getting in touch with the roofer or the owner was difficult. They would say they would be here to work but would not show up. Very poor communication. The roof was finally completed on May 21st and 20 minutes later the owner was calling to came get his check/money. The roof looks pretty good but I would not recommend this company to anyone that wants their house roofed in a timely manner.

Unprofessional, not friendly and downright rude. This lawncare company zooms around on their zero…read moreturn mowers without regard for the neighbors of their clients since they mow at great speed over the rock landscaping in the yards they mow. This company broke two vehicle windshields of mine. The first time was last October. Josh initially apologized and said his wife would call to take care of it. That was a lie because she never called. When I finally managed to catch her on the phone, she refused to submit my claim because she didn't want her insurance rates to go up. Moreover, her local insurance agent never called me back either. When they broke my windshield again this April, Josh was verbally abusive and called me crazy. The home owner apologized for Josh's behavior. However, once again, the local insurance agent never called me back--he was always in a meeting and would call back. LIES! I had to report my loss to the National office of his insurance company and am still trying to fully resolve my claim. Choose a different lawn company that actually cares about their clients and is professional and responsible.
