I'm writing this review as an outsider, not from TN. I was hoping to enjoy more of this beautifully…read moregreen state and I was half satisfied and half disappointed with the trail in this location of I.C. King Park, which is why I gave this hiking venue a three star review. I took off two stars because the map of the hiking trail is so inaccurate (or, at least, unreadable). I took a picture of the map before starting my hike (I've uploaded it here) for reference as I hiked but it didn't help at all. At first I followed the rock covered road that heads up from the parking lot and veers off to the right. But soon I was disappointed by a dead end. So I headed back to the junction with the main rock covered road, which eventually runs parallel to the dog parks, and continued down the path to the next narrow, dirt trail and tree opening on the right that I thought was the trail as indicated on the map. This turned out to be a beautifully charming green and lush path, replete with enthralling cicada singing, delightful birdsong and gentle inclines and declines which made for an interesting hike. This continued for about a mile and a quarter until I came to an intersection. According to the map, I should have been at a T-intersection, but what I saw was a full on crossroads. I walked a ways down each path to see if any was a dead end but each seemed to be a legitimate trail. Since I wasn't sure which way to go, I headed back to my car. I was concerned my two mile (or so) hike may turn into a five mile (or so) hike and I wasn't prepared for that. I saw only one other party of two bikers heading up the path when I was heading back. This was both reassuring (that I saw other people) and concerning (that I saw only one other group in the hour I was on the trail). Anyway, if you have time to explore, the trail seemed to be well maintained so there is hardly any worry that you'll wander off it (except maybe a false start, like me). And it truly is a beautiful walk in the forest. But the trails seriously lack any kind of markings or signage whatsoever, so be prepared with alternative trails maps or time to wander and explore.

Nice little dog park for the downtown community. it's really cool that once you enter you have area…read morefor larger dogs as well as an area for smaller dogs. I would say the only bummer to here is there will be very limited street parking usually about four spaces and one more for handicap and the rest are usually filled on the right side of the street do to the residents that live in the condo's across the street. And that should be a friendly case of doggy fun. The park also offers bags to handle your dog's business once duty calls!

The positive is that they have a good double gate to prevent escapes, separate sides for small and…read morelarge dogs, some shade, waste bags, and a water fountain. The negative is that the grass needs tending as a lot of it is dirt, everyone doesn't pick up after their dogs so there is a bad smell, and the homeless camp right outside the back of the fence.

It is a wonderful place to explore nature and spend time surrounded by beautiful water, trees, and colored rocks. I felt so safe and comfortable while I was there alone, which is something you cannot say for some parks. I would recommend this nature spot any-day for some relaxation.

Perfect if you're closing out the museum and need a place to run off energy afterwards before heading home. It has a parking lot next to it that would be accessible for wheelchairs or strollers. There is a covered pavilion with picnic tables, a playset for bigger kids and an area for the little ones with smaller climbing areas and slides. A separate swingset and a great grassy hill, perfect for rolling down round out this nice park. Why not 5 stars? Lots of litter and not quite as well-maintained as some of the other parks in town. Doesn't impact the stars (since it's not the park/city's fault), but we also left in a hurry last time due to the house next door practicing their shooting. Gun shots and smoke scared my kiddos quite a bit.

This dog park is fairly new, and has some young trees. Most of the trees are too young to provide shade, but should be great in the future. The grassy area is located on a hillside, which makes chasing a ball a little strange. It could be good if your pooch is a diehard ball chaser; just tossing a ball down the hill would be great exercise. Mine golden retriever retrieves about 40% to 50% of the time, lol. You get the idea. It could be great excercise for ME! There is only one sitting area for owners (pet parents), but maybe they will install more in the future. During this summer heat, we spent most of our time in the wooded area, but there's no seating there. Overall, a great dog park! I hope it continues to be well maintained & developed.

Strong secure entry gates. There are great water stations on both sides of the park for dogs and humans as well and water bowls scattered around. We'll supplied dog poop bags, and there's even a wash station. There's only one small area under shade and cover with two benches on each side, so be aware if it's sunny that there's no other coverage for dogs or humans. There are bathrooms and a small children's park located near by as well. The highlights of this park are the multiple walking trails. They start on either side of the dog park with trails around the park that go all the way to the old entrance off of Alcoa Highway. These are well kept, cleared regularly after bad weather, and are slightly hilly but easy to walk and the dogs love it.

When you pull up, the parking lot is set apart from both the playground and the adjacent soccer field. Note that it is not stroller or wheelchair-friendly, since there is no walkway and parking is up a somewhat steep hill. Re: the soccer field, not sure if it is typically open to the public, but we brought a ball and found an open gate and were able to run and play on the field with our kids. The playground is well-kept but definitely open to the elements, so it would be a scorcher on a warm day and in direct sunlight. I do wish that they had a covered area or even a small pavilion/area to sit and watch kids or have a lunch between play sessions. There are a few benches sprinkled throughout. There is one playset that is perfect for toddlers and another designated for ages 5-12. The two slides on this second set are very steep, so be prepared for your kids to go down like a speeding bullet. ;-) Overall, a great little park! I loved that there is something to entertain all three of our kids, regardless of age or ability/bravery.

Trailhead parking for the 0.58 mile asphalt loop is on Alabama Street, next to the recycling bins. It also ties into a greenway which leads to downtown. The loop is marked every tenth of a mile, for those of you whom like to pace yourself. Centennial Park includes a plethora of picnic tables and barbecue grills, as well as a small playground, a fenced in baseball field & a pavilion with restrooms. There was little to no litter, likely due to the amount of trash bins available near picnic areas. Benches sporadically line the walkway, so it would be a good place to walk if you need frequent breaks. (Great for grandparents!) The other dog walkers, dogs, and runners were friendly, and the layout was open and safe. I saw a male cardinal and a robin in the brush, and heard many more birds. Great job, Jefferson City Parks & Rec and Carson-Neuman College! Your park is awesome. Also, I am totally bringing my recycling here now. Way to make the errand easier on me! *the greenway is ADA compliant, however the loop is not, due to its meandering grade. The grade does not seen that steep, but it does wind it's way down into a bowl. I do not think it would be a problem for a wheelchair if one is with a companion whom could assist in certain areas.
