In my opinion, it was a great fit for him after having had multiple life changes over the previous few years. (divorce, multiple moves, so on) The small class sizes here allow teachers to gain a perspective on students that a typical classroom, quite simply, probably wouldn't allow. I thoroughly appreciated the insights teachers provided during P/T conferences. They gave not only academic but social insights into my son's life that I would not have otherwise had. (Don't tell him I said that ) Having said all of that, he decided to go to elsewhere for his high school years. Whether or not it's a good decision for him remains to be seen. In any case, I would urge parents (and their students!) to consider Collegiate Academy. As parents we must help our kids decide what is best for them at a given time. The beauty of Jeffco is this ability to have options. We haven't had this option presented so cleanly to us in any other school system. Please check them out.

My daughter could not get the help she needed. We changed to collegiate and a world of a difference happened. She is no longer on IEP at grade level or above all from changing schools and how they taught. She only has 15 people in her class. The staff teachers admin principal all have been amazing. Can not recommend this school enough. It was like a private school with out the cost.

Northridge Elementary School - Negative stars: Northridge Elementary School: A Deeply Disappointing Experience

My oldest son attended Northridge from 2nd through 6th grade, and his time there was marked by repeated incidents of bullying and racial discrimination. He was physically assaulted multiple times--on the school bus, in the hallways, and during recess. One of the most horrifying incidents involved another student beating him with my son's own 40oz Yeti bottle while hurling racial slurs. This was caught on camera and reported, yet the school failed to take meaningful action. Even during his final days at Northridge, the trauma continued. In May 2023, after receiving his yearbook, a student wrote the N-word in it. When I brought this to the principal's attention the last few weeks of school. On graduation day, I was told they were "sorry" but couldn't do anything because it was the end of the school year. That response was not only dismissive, it was unacceptable. Sadly, my younger child, who was in kindergarten that same year, also faced bullying. He was physically hurt when another student slammed his hand in the front door and was repeatedly cursed at and harassed during class, lunchtime and recess. Staff members were often disengaged, more focused on their phones than supervising the children. Again, the school failed to act, offering excuses and false claims that police had been involved, but none of which were true. Throughout our time at Northridge, incidents were brushed aside, and no real consequences were ever enforced. The emotional toll on my children has been significant, and the school's failure to protect them or take responsibility is beyond disappointing. I have other children, and I will never enroll them at Northridge. No family should have to endure what we did. Shame on this school for its negligence and lack of compassion.

Teachers are great and principal, Katie Lynch, is really compassionate. My oldest nephew also goes here and it's been really neat to see them grow. COVID handling was pretty touch and go but I think that's how it goes everywhere. Drop off and pick up are a nightmare- make sure to have a routine and leave with enough time to park!

Like many kids, my son was apprehensive about changing schools, but within a month he realized that he was where he belonged, and now he tries to spend every extra minute he can at school attending before or after school clubs. The International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum is an excellent basis for in-depth education and exploration, but the true strength of Mackintosh is the amazing teaching faculty and staff. All of the teachers seem to love their jobs and their students and with the low student/teacher ratios, the teachers truly know the kids and how to elicit their best thinking and work. Like all learners, gifted students have strengths and weaknesses, and the teachers are able to offer broad enrichment to support a student's strengths as well as support and scaffolding for a student's challenge areas. They are able to support a learner who may be three years ahead in math, but who finds writing a struggle. The teachers are willing to differentiate instruction and assignments and meet students where they are and gently push them to grow and believe in their abilities. Some more things that I love about the school: amazing grade-level theatrical performances, multi-day nature-based field trips for the older grades, outside lunch as weather allows, and a well-rounded curriculum that includes PE every day, plus either performing or visual arts every day and a period every day that is split between Spanish some days and design others. I wish more kids could experience a Mackintosh education. I saw some comments about bullying. I am not personally aware of any bullying at the school, and I haven't had any parents share any bullying experiences with me. Also, I haven't experienced any "cliques" among the parents. Everyone seems very nice and genuine. If you have a gifted learner who would benefit from a warm, enriching, education, we strongly recommend that you consider Mackintosh Academy.

Maria Cardona was in charge of creating from scratch the curriculum for a handful of kids for a few years. My daughter improved in her writing and reading comprehension a lot. The topics covered during all those years touched on many areas so I'm very appreciative of Maria Cardona's creative curriculum and patience throughout those years. We also had very good experiences with all classes, from advanced math, to art, and everything in between. I'm sure that will be key for my daughter's high school and college future

Father James is an innovative and faithful leader who has renewed the school as a deeply Catholic place, strengthening both its spiritual and academic life. The teachers work tirelessly, genuinely caring about students' souls as well as their academic growth. The academics are rigorous, and students are expected to work hard, which is exactly why we chose St. Mary. While some courses are challenging, we believe appropriate hardship builds resilience and character. I am surprised by negative reviews, as this is a private Catholic school chosen by families seeking strong faith formation and high expectations. The parish community is welcoming, and the school has made sincere, commendable efforts to support students with special needs. We are grateful to be part of a school that values faith, discipline, excellence, and community.
