Clay's offers some interesting seasonal finds in a variety of categories. Located on Main Street, the center isn't far from downtown Blackstone. I was initially drawn in by the nursery section of the center and grew to love meandering in the main part of the store. I've made it part of my travel ritual while visiting Blackstone!
The nursery is well-stocked and has a decent variety of plants at reasonable prices. A great place to look for mums when the time comes. The resident kitties are sure to offer suggestions and advice in exchange for pettings or chatter. The greenhouse in the back of the center has some interesting finds, from foliage plants to catnip to succulents to more exotic-looking surprises. I think I've even seen a juniper bonsai (or two). Clay's offers a nice selection of plants and gardening supplies for budding and experienced gardeners alike. Staff members are willing to offer their expertise with any questions!
It's also worth it to take some time in the store itself. The wind chimes (and sometimes decorative windmills) out front are interesting to check out, and on occasion, one of the helper kitties will let you know which ones are best to sleep near/ under. Some pet supplies are sold but the focus here seems to be bird food and feeders. The shop sells a few types of coffee from local grinders. The beer and wine section also offers local selections and staff members are more than happy to help with any questions. Prices in this category vary a bit but I've never had problems finding something I like at a cost I agree with.
The shop sells fresh produce at reasonable prices; flavored and regular butter and cheeses, fresh eggs for cheap, ham/ bacon and the like. Plenty of jams and pickled items to peruse through! Seasonal items, such as lawn flags, are also available but the focus is on produce and plants. Some of the more delicate or finicky plants are in the main part of the store.
