We picked Baxley off of our GPS app based on location and great fuel prices, it turned out to be a perfect stop. We didn't encounter any other humans while we were there, but it was very nicely set up for pilots to take care of themselves. The fridge was stocked with snack fixings and a donation jar. Fuel was easy and a great price. And the space was super comfortable and relaxing. It would be a great spot to stop and ride out some bad weather. I don't believe it is terribly close to town, but it looked like they had a van out front, so there may be a way in to town when the FBO is staffed.

The smartest decision I made when planning my visits was to start flying into Hilton Head Airport instead of Savannah Airport. It is significantly faster, easier, and far less of a hassle. Although the airport is small, its compact size makes it incredibly convenient for inpatient travelers like me. Shorter lines, quicker security checks, and less walking. Well, walking is good for you, but sometimes you are in a hurry. Currently, the airport is undergoing renovations and a slight expansion, which is great news. These improvements will enhance the overall experience without sacrificing the ease that makes Hilton Head Airport so appealing. For me, it is a perfect choice; simple, efficient, and getting better all the time.

I have had many bad experiences with taxi and livery services where I white knuckled the whole trip. We had mentioned that we would be needing a ride to the airport later on that day, and the driver even arrived at our hotel preemptively to give us a ride. Both drivers were friendly and helpful. We were staying at the Eliza Thompson House and they had called a cab for us once. The cab that came barely ran, the driver could hardly speak English, and there was sticky stuff all over the seat. He also claimed the meter was broken and charged us a few dollars more than Chatham. We were scarred since we are used to a clean car with a courteous driver, after using Uber at home. Chatham Cab came to the rescue thankfully and met our expectations.
