Through each session, I learn more about myself and what I have to offer to the world. I learn that I can face my worst problems and fears head on. Mr. Aaron has inspired me to push myself harder than I ever thought to push my mental boundaries. We have worked through some difficult times, but he met each moment with grace. Always putting my faith first and foremost, he thrives on teaching me new ways to heal and to lean on tried and true strategies that have proven beneficial in the past. The atmosphere at Anchored Hope is extremely laid back and comforting. A quiet hum of K-Love while you wait is ever-inspiring to those with a weary heart. Complimentary water is available while you wait. The staff is especially helpful with setting up appointments so you can be a healthier, better you.

2 years ago, I would have given the Fort Smith staff a glowing 5 star review - but the office staff…read morehas changed entirely, and now I can't give anything but ONE star. Sadly this impacts the superb counseling staff. I had been a patient for years, and got well - meaning I didn't need to see a counselor anymore. isn't this the goal? I had something new come up that should take a couple of sessions with my former therapist. I do get there are legal requirements for paperwork, but I was told I had to sign off on TEN new forms, most not required my first time. One was a form that was meant for minors, and a questionnaire about abuse, fondling and the like. u wasn't supposed to be sent this form - but the fact they sent it, they were not apologetic when I brought to their attention (and worst: it was the first form I opened with NO advance warning it was a very graphic set of questions)! So after calming down, I called to have someone go through the forms - I was met with actual defensive hostility, and they twisted my words badly. I was accusing no one of anything ill willed - but they needed to know they should monitor firms better sent to existing clients. Instead it ended i could not talk to the manager because they were so defensive (why would they be)? I never raised my voice. Bur I decided if this small thing they can not say "yes, we can go thru the forms and make sure we get this right" - but instead maje accusations and get defensive, this is no longer the place for me. I know as a manager I would have taken ownership to not let this happen again. be it staff training (the phone appt person said "these are the forms I was told to give you" is not the right answer). I'm obviously 50 yrs past being a minor (who the questionnaires were for) and a former multiple year patient. They do not take this into account. the appt person said they do this if you haven't had a session in over a year, while the manager said "6 months". Reallt? 6 months? I know of NO office who does it less than. a year, and tries to have common sense. For whatever reason, these things elude the staff who doesn't apply basic understanding - and sensitivity. i cant stress enough this is a reflection of the office staff, and not counselors, but sadly you do have to have a good staff to make a practice really effective. I do not want to battle an untrained, insensitive staff. And certainly one who can not take ownership to work with former clients. my understanding is I should have the right to refuse to take questionnaires. some things are FAR too personal to put on paper. I'd have been happy to sign waivers or refusal documents. But to be asked on the first form, with NO advance warning of the graphic questions, if I had "been fondled before age 18", and told this was a required form... yikes... I'm seriously considering filing a formal staff complaint because who else is getting this, and should not be? This could cause some mental harm! I can no longer recommend this counseling group unto they take ownership of mismanaging these inside forms, and using better practices for prior clients.
