(My opinion)I will note that I do not think it is the most ideal place for young people unless they are really devoted to making serious life changes. At Natural State we are allowed many freedoms not found at most 28 day rehab centers although it was perfect for me. Program Director Bobby Ward (voted counselor of the year) is a wealth of scientific & street knowledge. Chris Dickie is awesome as well. I highly recommend the place.

Poorly run rehab facility. Having a family member there requires constant vigilance. A phantom Dr…read more Shaw reportedly sees patients once a week, but she never calls back. Actually, no one ever calls back despite a lot of fake cheerfulness and promises. I wouldn't trust these people with anyone you love. My month long experience with having a family member there has been horrible. Today's typical interaction involved their insistence that a document they needed had to be sent through the USPS rather than hand delivered, a patently ridiculous, made-up rule. Of course, I took it there myself. I also witnessed nurses yelling back rudely at patients. The receptionist sounds like he's on drugs, and answers any Thank You with No Problem. Well, there's a problem, but it's not mine.

Very Frustrating place to be a client. A few of the staff…read morethere seem genuinely Concerned with the recovery of the client. It is very obvious though that many of the staff are not themselves in recovery. .. and therefore treat the alcoholic/addict as a bad person(s) rather than sick people trying to get well. The egotism of some of the non clinical staff is astonishing. I hope that the higher up administration there will actually see and pay attention to what is going on. If and when they get approved by insurance or when people start actually paying for treatment sp will have to make some big changes if they expect to stay afloat. I didn't expect to be handed everything on a silver platter. But I also didn't expect an attitude of contempt. Anyway as it stands I'm hurt, angry and frustrated at the way just a few of the staff made my stay there so miserable. I am sick. And I acknowledge that as an alcoholic I have many character defects. But I came to sp to heal and start a-new I don't feel like I was helped in regard to those expectations. At this time I would not recommend serenity park if there are other options available. Joe McQuany would be rolling in his grave if he knew the foundation he created has become this.
