We booked Classy DJ for our wedding because they were the "in house" DJ at the venue that we chose. They have their equipment, such as speakers and projector screens all built into the room so we figured that it would be best to go with them vs a separate DJ company who would have had to bring in separate equipment and may not have been as familiar with operating the screen projector etc.
During our consultation we outlined our itinerary for reception. provided a playlist of music to be played during the cocktail hour, dinner reception and dance.
We had asked a week in advanced for the DJ to bring a remote for their DVD player because it would make things easier for him to navigate through our slide show and other a/v stuff that we had planned.
On the actual wedding day the DJ showed up with a DVD player that was very cheap. The picture quality was terrible and the remote that we had requested didn't even work! The next problem was with the projectors; we had requested the use of two screens and the DJ could only get one to work eventually he got both but it was so stressing because there were also issues with trying to get the audio to work. (come on..this is the in house DJ shouldn't they know how their equipment works???)
Once we were ready to get started with the reception, we were delayed once again by the DJ and his faulty equipment because he couldn't get the spotlights to work.
During our consultation we had indicated that classical music be played during cocktail hour and jazz be played during dinner. Another big fail....there was no music played during cocktail hour because the DJ was too tied up with getting his equipment to work and during dinner he played the wrong type of music...(not sure what the heck he was playing but it definitely wasn't Jazz!)
Throughout the night one of the groomsmen had to be consistently with the DJ to insure that the rest of the night ran smoothly.
After the wedding we wrote the head guy of the DJ company about the issues that we had with their DJ and how we thought it was so unprofessional that they had not shown up earlier to test their equipment. If I didn't bring my laptop as a backup the whole night would have been ruined. Also some of our guest that were seated near the bar commented that the DJ was spending a lot of time at the bar.
We got a reply back indicating that the issue would be looked into.We waited 2 weeks for a response and after not hearing back we sent a follow up email indicating how disappointed we were with the poor customer service and the lack of follow up. We got a one word response back ........and well ...lets just leave it at that.
We would not recommend Classy DJ. Over priced and terrible service. read more
