I took this course last year in preparation for my MCAT. It was not a good experience…read more Their format is one teacher for the physical sciences (General Chemistry and Physics) and another for Biological Sciences and Reading Comp(Bio, O-Chem, and Reading). The physical sciences teacher was very smart, but a complete scatter brain. He didn't manage class time very well, often going way way off on tangents and ended up not teaching us everything that ExamKracker put into that lesson. The second teacher was worse. He was extremely unorganized and it was pretty evident that he had never taught before. Then he became very "real" and told us not to bother practicing reading comprehension, because you can't improve. How discouraging (even if it is kind of true, if you don't have much time)! About 3 weeks into the class, the physical sciences teacher quit. He went to work for a startup. So the biological sciences guy took over both classes. It all went down hill from there on. He attempted to use regular classroom techniques, which would be fine if we were in a regular class. But the point of this class was to re-expose us to old material we should know, so we can practice it on our own. Every week, he tried a new tactic (I guess I should commend him for trying...), such as making us teach each other, or splitting the class into small groups and doing group work the whole time. I emailed the organizers a few times to complain. Each time, the situation would improve a little, but not significantly. In the end, the class was a horrible waste of time and money. I believe the EK books and practice tests are great. But do not bother with the class. The message boards you get access to are horrible, too. Save your $2000 and just buy a ton of books and practice tests!

Great tutoring place tucked away in a shopping strip in high view. They can offer tutoring in any…read moresubject. I started sending my older two daughters here last year and it has worked wonders for them. As a preface I will say that my oldest daughter Alyssa (grade 4 now) has severe ADHD and anxiety issues. My middle daughter Breanna (grade 2 now) has dyslexia. Mrs Tiffany and the scholar factory work so well with both. They both attended private school at st Rita. And with the help and dedication of the scholar factory both had there most successful school year this past year and still are going strong currently. Mrs Tiffany and the scholar factory work diligently and keep constant communication with our daughters school and teachers. It is not easy to find tutors who have the ability and willingness to work with adhd and dyslexic children. And if they do they want to charge extra for the inconvenience it seems. That is not how it works at all at the scholar factory. They take on all kids and do not want to charge you extra for the "special" tutoring. The facility itself is a nice clean cozy place. Lots of books for the kiddos and personal one on one learning areas for the children. Another great thing that scholar factory does is they hold special classes and groups outside of one on one torturing. They offered a learning summer camp that both my kids loved and my oldest Alyssa is currently doing a multiplication facts group that I can almost guarantee Is going to help her succeed this year. In the year plus this place looks like it has grown so much from just being Mrs Tiffany. I've seen 3-4 other tutors getting involved and all have been great to work with. I wish this place all the best and hope to see its growth continue.

The Scholar Factory has made a remarkable difference for my boys. In just a few short weeks Ms…read moreTiffany and her team were able to get them more than grade ready for the upcoming school year. The level of time and care (and patience) this team gives each child is amazing!! My boys looked forward to going to see them and they have improved so much in Math and Language Arts! The boys are also much more confident in their abilities. So thankful that we found our way to Ms Tiffany and her team. We will be bringing the boys even through the school year.

I almost hate to write this review, because I'm afraid that if I tell people how fabulous Dr. Cook…read moreis, then I will have a much harder time getting in to see her. Because I love the Yelp community, and because I care about your mental health, I am going to bite the bullet and get the word out about Dr. Victoria Cook. Let's face it, there are times in our lives when we really want to strangle the life out of someone, or burn down our office building, or perhaps just never leave the dark comfy world under the covers of our bed. I've been there. It's no fun. Talking to someone else - anyone else - about the world inside your head can be a very scary experience, and talking to a complete stranger about the worrisome bits of your life is a definitive no...just, no. Trusting someone else enough to be able to discuss your sad places is not an easy thing, and finding the right person is very important. Dr. Cook was exactly the right person for me. She is kind, she listens without interrupting, and I never feel judged. She is a fabulous resource for outside services, and she is encouraging without being forceful. Dr. Cook accepts some insurance plans, and she has evening appointment available. Mental health is no joke. Whether you have chronic depression or situational angst, a supportive therapist can be a valuable asset, and can make a tremendous impact as you navigate life's difficult path. Taking care of yourself means more than eating right and keeping your body fit...it also means loving yourself enough to talk about your problems. It's amazing how the power your fears and sadness have over you dissipates when you voice them, out loud. To reach the National Suicide Prevention Hotline, call 1-800-273-8255.
