I have used Yucatan Excursions several times in the past three years. The day trips I have taken are a great value. Not only did we visit the locations on my "to do" list, but Polo had excellent suggestions on places to visit that are off the beaten path. I saw Mayan ruins that are not publicized but are way better than Those swamped with tourists. My suggestion is for you to have an idea of what you want to see, and ask Polo for suggestions. You won't be disappointed. Polo speaks fluent English, and his a wealth of historical and cultural information. You may have heard of Rick Steve's Europe Through the Back Door. I see Polo as being Yucatan Off the beaten path. One thing I didn't mention in my initial review is that Yucatan Excursions is a locally owned small business. It is not part of an international hotel chain or travel company. When you use this business you are supporting a local business and the local economy. In the days of multi-national corporations I think it is very important for travelers to support the communities they are visiting. You are also getting personalized service that is tailored to your specific wants and interests, and not to a pre-determined set of criteria intended to cater to the overall assumed desires of all tourists.

Buses leave every 15 minutes and you can just get on any one you want - you don't pay for a specific time. For a few…read moredollars round-trip you travel in a comfortable, air-conditioned bus direct from downtown to a few blocks away from the beach in Progreso. Buses leave every ten minutes and the trip takes about an hour each way. Pro tip: It can get busy, so if you have someone with you, have them get in line for the bus while you get in line for your round-trip tickets. By the time you have your tickets your companion should be close to the front of the line and you won't have to wait as long. On the return trip we noticed passengers asking to be let off at different places along the route when we got back into the city limits. When we got a few blocks away from our hotel we asked and the bus driver was kind enough to let us off as well. It saved us from having to go all the way back downtown and taking a cab back to the hotel. It never hurts to ask.

I was referred to Casey through another group on fb. I saw her answering many questions & finally reached out. She went out of her way and was patient answering every one of my questions! Which were 100's. We did a 7 day turn around on residency. I went to Belize and used an amazing service to cross the border which I would also recommend. Then I met Casey in Merida on our vacation journey & she picked me & my friend up and hand delivered us to the office. Together she got me in & out like lightning. I barely had to answer a question which was great because they did NOT speak English at this office. They knew her & understood what she was doing for me. She covered every base, filled out all the paperwork for me! I wouldn't have dared do it on my own. Her expertise & help got me set up for 4 years in 8 days flat. Same as the others, kept 1k deposit x2, ghosted after I said I handle it all. She then replied I set up the new appointments which was days after we did everything ourselves. Don't walk, run. In addition to all of this, when I told INM who my helper was, the lady physically looked worried for me.
