One thing I cannot understand is how they can remember me from one appointment to the next. I do regular 6 month checkups and never need anything more, yet the receptionists know me when I walk in. The hygienist knows me, remembers my interests and my employer, etc. I don't know how they do it, but it makes the experience even better. Since I had a full exam within the last 3 years, my insurance wouldn't cover it fully and it cost me $118 for the visit. I'm not upset about this because it makes sense that as a new patient, I would need to establish care and get a full examination. Just make sure to check with your insurance if they will cover a full exam so there aren't any surprises. I only had to wait 10 minutes before being called back by the dental hygienist. She was very kind and explained everything before she did it. She had a soft hand as well. When she was done with my cleaning, I didn't have to wait long to be seen by the doctor. As a patient with minimal dental issues, I had zero complaints about my appointment as a new patient.

I was told I needed a root canal, trusted the recommendation, and from there everything went downhill. The crown fell off, was replaced, and never fit correctly. I went back multiple times for adjustments, but my bite was never right and the pain never stopped. What's worse, I was refused routine cleanings for TWO YEARS because the dentist insisted on fixing this one tooth--something that never actually got resolved. I even asked about removing the tooth and was repeatedly dismissed. Finally, I sought a second opinion. Turns out the tooth was fractured and infected all along and should have been pulled from the beginning. Now I'm dealing with an abscess and a much bigger problem than I started with. This was a long, frustrating, and painful experience that could have been avoided. Please do yourself a favor--get a second opinion before committing to major work here

When I arrived, I sat for just a few minutes and was greeted by Ari, who was fabulous. She put me at ease right away, because I wasn't sure if I was in the right place for my problem. She assured me I had made the correct call. Ari has a wonderful personality and made me feel comfortable right away. While we were waiting for Dr. Grayem, Sarah popped in to say hello. Sarah took care of me many times in the past year and is a delight. I was very happy to see her. Ari and Sarah were the perfect pair for me to see on Monday. Dr. Grayem came in and was very concerned and tried to help me. When the visit was over Sarah walked me out to the check out and just made me feel so special. What a wonderful experience, when I wasn't feeling well at all! I have never liked going to the dentist, because I have had several terrible experiences. I called on a Friday afternoon and they had Me booked that Monday morning for a consultation. My visit was for a "second opinion" Dr. Silva "saved" My tooth and enabled Me to be able to get a crown, instead of having it pulled which was the recommendation of My old dentist. They treat you like a friend or family here from the moment You walk in! Staff was extremely attentive and highly skilled. I was amazed at the professionalism and expertise of the hygienist working on my crown. She was also incredibly kind. You get what You pay for. Make sure You check with insurance before booking a procedure. This office uses state of the art technology. If you just need "routine" dental care may not be your place. State of the art equipment, competent friendly staff, good communication, smoothly run billing, and dental hygienists that are skilled, gentle, and don't rip up your gums. Now on to Dr. Gene Cohen - when he's sober he's great. Okay that was a joke because in the interest of full disclosure, I went to high school with Gene, and then our freshmen year at UMSL. He's the same intelligent, thoughtful, nice guy I knew from years ago. But more than that, he is extremely competent, doesn't rush through the exam, takes time to fully explain things to you, and in general inspires confidence. I wish I had made the switch years ago, but I'm glad he's my dentist now.
