My experience from a few years ago :…read more I was told Nadeau's had just changed ownership it appears things went gone downhill fast. Worst consumer experience I've ever had. It's a very long story.. the short version. Another marine mechanic shop had a problem with my tohatsu. While ordering the parts from Nadeaus we were told the repair is under warranty, so bring it in. So we brought the lower unit to Nadeaus a week later after they called and told us they had received the ordered parts. Each time I called I was told they would get to it "tomorrow.. or the day after", 22 days later and over 12 phone conversation (specifying I was told this was warranty work on each phone call) they completed the work in about an hour. I know this because I'll called at 1:00 pm and they said they hadn't even looked at the unit since it was dropped off. They called back a little after 2:00 the same day and said it was done and they informed me I owed them almost $300 for the repair. They never called to tell me they didn't think it was warranty work. They just did the work planning on charging without any authorization. The woman at the service desk tried to tell me the parts took a long time to get.. which wasn't he case, since the parts were there (so was she) when the unit was dropped 22 days earlier. Then she told me the only reason I was upset was because " you have to pay". I explained as calmly, with no yelling and certainly no profanity, why I was not happy with what had transpired (or didn't) over the past 22 days. She proceeded to tell me I was "F-ing insulting her" proceeded to use language most salty dogs would use in a place of business and hung up and wouldn't answer my call the rest of the day. No one would pick up the phone. I left messages.. no return call. I think my regular local shop got stuck with the bill, unless Nadeaus honored their word and warrantied the repair after all of that. I've never written a bad review of any product or service in the past. But I've never experienced service this poor. I had high hopes for the shop, nice building, staff was nice enough the day I dropped the unit off. * After posting a a bad review, the owners response said I had arrived at the shop swearing and demanding outlandish same day service when I dropped the unit off. Several other out right untruths as well. ** to the owners response. My local marina that had the problem with the linkage in my lower unit told Nadeaus how it happened and they were told by Nadeaus this was a common problem and Nadeau's could take care of it under warranty. They said it would be a quick fix.. maybe a couple of days or a week after the parts arrived. Which all sounded fine to me. Every boat yard is extremely busy in May and June and I would never expect same day service. I've been a boat owner for 20 + years and have never had an experience like this. There are a half dozen marinas within 5 miles of my home. I know the owners or mechanics at all of them. I was trying to help my local shop out by lightening their load and letting Nadueas do the work under warranty since they were so insistent on bringing it up to them. Clearly the person who made these promises at Nadeaus wasn't authorized to do so. But if you have staff talking to customers and other shops and making promises you've got to stick with them or be upfront about it. If I had known on day 1 or 2 or even day 7, 10 or 20... that we were "misinformed" about the warranty, the original shop would have made the repair. Contrary to the owners response, I had a very pleasant experience they Day I dropped the unit off at Nadeaus. I was extremely patient for the entire 22 days they had my unit, patient to a fault apparently. The staff told me after the surprise bill that the person that told us they would warranty the repair "no longer owns or works at the shop". I have never used a cuss word with any business in my entire life and didn't start with Nadeaus. Swearing at a staff member would never get anyone anything any faster, not to mention it would ruin my day if I let myself stoop to that level.

I was totally blindsided by this company! And needless to say, I have been more than disappointed…read morewith this establishment. It's taken me a little time to decide if I should write this review or not. What led me to write it…read morewas Facebook. More specifically, the Maine Boat Rental Facebook page. I'll get back that in a bit. I rented the boat I'm writing about from August 15-17, 2025. First I want to tell you what happened and I will provide facts supported with pictures Maine Boat Rental provided me (actually a video of the boat before I took possession and several pictures showing the damage they claimed I caused). After returning the boat, I received an e-mail on 26 August stating, "This email is to confirm a one-time charge in the amount of $251.74 has been successfully completed. The reason for this charge was $26.74 GAS FILL, $175 BENT BIMNI ROD SCRATCHES ON REAR AND FRONT OF BOAT, $50 ADMIN FEE FOR CC FOR SECURITY DEPOSIT and is associated with your reservation CC A5L-GDV. If you have any questions, please contact Maine Boat Rental at [207-313-6248] and we will be happy to assist you." I immediately called them and they said the Bimini rod was bent and there was damage to the hull of the boat. I asked them to send me the video/pics and they did. Me being me, I looked at the pictures and then watched the video (the one taken before I rented the boat). I ended up doing screen-shots of the video. I compared the screen shots with the damage they said I did, then put an Adobe pdf file together to send them showing that EVERY scratch, gouge, bent rod, etc., was already on the boat. I sent that file to Maine Boat Rental and asked when I was going to get my refund. About a week later I received an e-mail from Nichoal that said, "After spending a lengthy amount of time comparing videos and pictures, I have found that the bimni bar was bent badly during your rental and the cost of replacing that is over $1,200. I have also found that there are in fact new scratches on the boat the worst of them down to the fiberglass and will require a in-depth patching process to ensure water intrusion will not happen in the future." I asked her if she saw the Adobe pdf file I sent her and she hadn't (remember, she claimed to have spent a "lengthy amount of time comparing videos and pictures" - obviously not looking at their own Facebook page). I again sent the file which clearly shows the damage they charged me for was already on the boat. Once she realized I did my due diligence, she immediately refunded my $175 in damages. Now, what caused me to write this review. I was looking at other reviews and their Facebook page. Facebook has 2 pictures showing their ski boats all docked together (posted on July 17, 2025). The last boat (farthest from the picture taker) is the boat I rented. In that picture, taken almost a month before I rented the boat, is the bent Bimini rod. The bend in the bar clearly matches the damage picture they sent me. That was the icing on the cake. How many renters have been charged for this Bimini rod they claim is over $1200? I have yet to find a Bimini top for more than $500 but that's not the point. The point is unsuspecting renters are renting from Maine Boat Rental and probably getting charged for damage that was already there. They probably charged every person that rented this particular boat, July 17 through now, for that damage. Pretty crappy way to try and get more money from people. I mean, $1000 for a 3-day rental isn't enough? I just caution you, if you're planning on renting a boat from them, to take pictures of every bit of damage (bent rods, scratches, prop damage on the engine, etc.). In fact, make sure the person from Maine Boat Rental dropping off the boat is in those pictures so they can see you took them before you got the boat not after the fact. The pictures I've posted - higher resolution pictures = damage they said I caused / lower resolution pictures = screen shots I took from their video before I got the boat. For the record, I did rent from them (I am Sean M on the contract and fuel receipt).

While we were flexible with the unusable boat... Communication between the owner was awkward and lacked accountability. I believe this company has some underlying issues and upon reflection. I believe it's possible they are renting salvage vessels. Not sure, but the condition of our vessel was comparable to wrecked boat.

Great place!!! Definately wanna stay in this place if I go to Maine again…read more Stayed there with 14 other friends this Columbus weekend in the lodge. The rooms, kitchen, living room space are all too good!! There are two pianos!! The best part is the scenery there. It's by the echo lake. Stunning view every morning. And we could go kayaking, boating... and a lot more.

The only issues we had was the heat in the upstairs bedrooms had two settings hot or cold. So we had to go with hot and crack the windows since it was February. I'd also suggest some comfortable living room furniture like some couches it's such a big beautiful room but doesn't have any comfortable seating. There was also a mouse in the house but I thought it was pretty funny trying to catch him. All in all we had a great time and we had 12 people with more than enough room for more.
