My room was extremely large and well-maintained. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. There was ample workspace in the room as well. Room had a coffee bar and fridge, which was great. The views from the room were excellent. It was an easy walk to the parking garage. I love that they offer covered parking because of the Florida heat and even better that it is so close. The parking fees are a little high, but that is frequently a complaint I have about hotels so that could just be me. Elevators were a bit slow this time around. I wish all of our conference had been on just the second floor because although the views from the 14th floor, conference rooms were stunning I was often late getting to those rooms because it was hard to catch an elevator. Most of the catering provided to my conference by the hotel was far above the average. We had two great lunches, a really nice dinner and a fabulous reception. The only part of the catering that was underwhelming was breakfast. The hotel is also located quite close to Tampa, International Airport and international Plaza mall, which is incredibly convenient.

Would not recommend. I was charged twice for resort fee and no reimbursement. Additionally the…read morecomforter had blood spots on it from what appears to be bed bug and maybe even feces.

I had a deluxe king waterfront front room with a balcony, and it had a lovely view of the water and pier. The room was comfortable and fairly spacious. The television had Netflix and other online service connections. The bathroom was well appointed but did not offer much in terms of toiletry amenities (e.g., no mouthwash, cotton rounds, etc.). They do have a concierge lounge on the 24th floor for elite guests. It had a nice hot breakfast buffet, and the hot appetizers in the evening were decent but basic. Soft drinks are available all day, and alcohol is available in the evenings. There is limited food offered between these times - not even chips or packaged snacks. Alcohol is not complimentary as it is in some lounges. The saddest part is that the lounge closes at noon Friday and doesn't reopen until Sunday night. You can't even drop in for a soft drink or snack. They do offer you a breakfast voucher for the mornings the lounge is closed, but it's a big loss to not have the lounge open even to just grab a soda. Marriott advertises their 24/7 M-Clubs, but this is not one of those. Overall this was a good hotel but I wish they'd expand the lounge hours.

We found the room at the Marriott to be spacious, and the bathrooms similar to the JW. We found that compared to JW, the Marriott lobby was bigger, with more lounging and work station areas but also more people and noisy/lively. It has an outdoor restaurant overlooking the river, as well as a high end Mexican restaurant LONA (which I highly recommend) which provided great food and an escape from the crowds when you sit at their bar/lounge area. The outdoor restaurant/bar also had live entertainment during happy hour. What I particularly like about these 2 properties is that you can enjoy the amenities of both location by just walking accross the street via the skybridge. We went to Driftlight Steakhouse at JW in the morning for breakfast and had the buffet. The food was wonderful, service even better. We found check in to be very easy, especially since there was a dedicated reservation desk for Marriott Platinum Elite and such. It was good to have since the day we were there there was a conference/event happening that weekend. The only disappointment is the Perk Coffee and Provisions shop near the reception area, which was WAY overpriced and service slow and unfriendly. For most of their items on the shelves there was NO price. You had to ask what the price for each of the items, ranging from water to the alcohol. In summary, a very good stay at the Tampa Marriott Water street. Good alternative to JW based on the price. Also, in the future would book a balcony room with water views.

We were excited to discover that the hotel is just a short walk away from one of our favorite beaches, Upham beach, which made the trip even more special. The property had a fun South Beach feel with plenty of seating to socialize, a cute pool with bright flamingo floats, a hot tub, and a great outdoor pool bar. Natalia was a great bartender, she was friendly and gave the most awesome recommendations off the menu. She did not miss a beat! Randy was a fantastic host. He was in communication via text as soon as the room was ready and greeted us immediately as we arrived on the property which does not require you to check in as they send you your room number and code to get in. In the room they also leave all important information including your parking pass and two complimentary drink tickets for a convenient arrival no matter what time you get in. Our room was clean, modern, and comfortable, with a king bed, updated bathroom, big-screen TV, and a convenient kitchenette. There were complimentary mimosas in the lobby each morning. They even have a wonderful restaurant on the 2nd floor, 82 Degrees, where we enjoyed most of our meals for the weekend.

However, getting upstairs to the pool area was absurd. The line and wait for the elevators was shocking. We still don't know why the elevators were so held up creating such a long queue after people checked in. Luckily we were only there for the pool, so we opted for the 3 flights of steps to get up there to avoid the wait. Travelers staying there with luggage did not have that option. Once we got up to the pool, the service was a little hands-off. The attendant didn't come over to check on us or take our orders, even though that was supposed to be part of the cabana experience. He mentioned that they had more guests at the bar than expected, so it wasn't a huge deal, but it was something I noticed. The food and drinks were just okay. For me, the day pass was really only worth it because it covered valet and included the cost of two drinks. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't have felt like there was enough value in the experience. Overall, it wasn't a bad way to spend a couple of hours, especially if you're looking for something to do around downtown Tampa, but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way for the pool experience itself.

The location is close to a number of restaurants and bars including CW's Gin Joint that is five minutes walking. The art museum is also nearby in addition to a couple of Starbucks. I wouldn't recommend walking down to the hockey center which is about 20 minutes walking at least and goes under the Selmon Expressway overpass. Some of the areas in downtown can be sketch so you will need to Uber if you don't plan on driving and parking. Parking, speaking of which, will be expensive whether you are valeting at $45 a night or park in one of the garages nearby. Some I think are $15-20 a day but depends on the garage. The valet at least are fast with getting your car. Overall, the staff was friendly and courteous. Our check in went quickly to grab our keys and direct us to our room that was on the first floor. Housekeeping was friendly and prompt as well. The room was easily accessible from the lobby and close to the pool area. Our bed was comfortable with a fridge, plenty of drawer and shelf space in the closet. Our room had some modern artwork as well. The bathroom was spacious and the water pressure was solid. Although it took a minute to figure out how to adjust the water temperature without scalding yourself. They have a fitness center but it's up on the top floor and can be a challenge to find at first if you don't know where you're going. The signage helps a bit. It's in this spooky hallway where the court reporters were located and juries deliberated. You wonder if there were any unexplained or brutal murders that took place but I didn't feel any haunted presences nor are any brought up as an attraction. So probably not. But the gym's amenities are solid between the cardio machines and the weights available. Towels are available and a water cooler. They have a restaurant and bar that serves all three meals as well as ice cream and coffee. I only stopped there for an extra dirty, which was ok but could have been dirtier. I would stay here again. It's primely located in downtown Tampa and not far from most points of interest.

The hotel had the usual hot breakfast available - including 2 waffle stations, a hot entree and a side (think scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon). Plenty of juices, fresh coffee, fruit, pastry, cereal, etc. They also have a reasonable amount of seating. I thought I'd be fighting for the elevators with a sold out hotel, but we never really hit any snags. The room was clean and done in fun colors. We had a decent view out the window, and no problem getting a cart for our luggage. Our room also was quiet and dark at night, so we got a good night's sleep. The rooms also have a mini fridge and a hair dryer was also provided in the room. The toiletries are in large bottles attached to the wall, but they were decent (no taking them home with you lol).
