Tucked away at the back of the lower ground floor of House of Fraser, the Clarins spa is ab fab darling! I started to use this salon when my lovely husband gave me a gift voucher for Christmas and once the voucher ran out I liked it so much I began forking out actual cash.
My favourite treatment is the fake tan application. Unlike most salons which use cold spray tan machines, the Clarins girls, who are all really friendly, use a tan which has to be rubbed in. The good news is that they do so carefully and slowly so you actually feel like you're getting a massage in the process. The other benefit of this kind of tan is that you get a really natural colour and no-one will use the 'hilarious' line 'Have you been tangoed?'
Something else I noticed is that these therapists are super professional, asking all about allergies and reactions and giving clear instructions about how to look after your skin after a treatment.
Despite the spa's location in the upmarket House of Fraser, prices are competitive, for example £8 for an eyebrow wax and so it's pretty busy.
If I had to talk about a drawback to the spa's location, I would mention the one and only time I have had a pedicure and toenail polish there. Not being forward thinking enough to bring along a pair of flip flops or sandals for going home in , I had to walk through the store to the car park in my smart work clothes and a pair of paper flip flops. Sooo not a good look sweetie, but a lesson learned! read more
