Clarence Pier are running a great scam. Today I visited and whilst playing a round of crazy golf, I noticed they had a rollercoaster (which was going around the track). This could only be ridden following the purchase of tokens. I purchased the required tokens, went to ride it but they said despite it running around the track, it was not open to guests.
I went back to get a refund but before I got back to the token sales area, one of the staff immediately approached me and said if I was going back for a refund he would not be giving it. He said a small sign in the corner of the window of the token booth informed me that the rollercoaster was shut and that I should have known (the sign only stated that Skyways was closed but in a small pier, how was I to know that was a rollercoaster?).
The remainder of the rides were mostly for kids so I thought I'd use the tokens at the shoot to win games. Of course, the tokens are not valid there and you have to pay instead! Left with no option of anything decent to ride, I gave up my tokens to the parent of some children nearby which clearly infuriated the guy who wouldn't give me a refund - but that made my day!
Clearly they knew full well that they were selling tokens on the promise of the rollercoaster but then being able to refuse entry. read more
