Torn leather seat but you can see a sliver of the table's edge being worn and missing some wood pieces.
Latasha H.

This motel needs a 0 star ratin but unfortunately Yelp is against it. Went to this hotel in August, so yes it's been a couple of months. But the memory is still fresh. Lawd Jesssuussss never again. Where do I even begin? ATMOSPHERE/VIBE: Dusty, musty stank, run down and sad. Lotta sketchy vibes here and definitely came across sketchy characters. At least the small lobby and front desk area looked decent. PARKING: To get INTO the parking lot for this place is a nightmare because of the busy road it's on. ROOM: The room was dirty. There was stains on the furniture. The fridge had rust at the bottom and was chipping. The microwave was nasty and had seen better days. I disinfected the entire room and Lysol and frebreezed it so many times. While I hope the disinfectant did something the Lysol and frebreeze did not. The room stayed smelling like old cigarettes and musty, rusty and dusty arse. The leather backboard had a large circular spot where leather was missing. While leather chairs had torn seats. ELEVATOR/STAIRS: Every day the elevator was greeting us with a brand new stank. Which sucked cause not everyone in my travel group could do the stair adventure. Which wasn't exactly better. I had expected to leave the stank that I associate with my city's subway at home when I arrived at Oregon. I was severely wrong. The elevator was also quite aggressive, had to quickly go in and out it. SENIORS and DISABLED folks BEWARE!! STAFF: One of the receptionist men was nice but the other.....he was doin some....non work things on the computer. If it was World of Warcraft or YouTube I wouldn't say a word. But it was giving Orange Tube. (If you know you know). Wasn't tryin to be in his business but there's a large window one passes to get into the lobby and that screen was NOT small.

Cigarette burns in this "no smoking" hotel
Geoffrey U.

When you get a hotel between the off-ramp and a porn store, well, this is what you get. First things first - none of the reception staff wore masks the entire time we were there. At least the cleaning staff did. The irony is that they closed the free breakfast bar "as a COVID-19 precaution". If you're worried about COVID tell your reception staff to WEAR MASKS. The hotel is smelly and run-down. The beds are awful and the cheap pillows are lumpy. There were stains and cigarette burns on the furniture. Sketchy dudes just hanging out for hours smoking cigs in their cars in the hotel lot. I'm sure that's perfectly legit. "Independent retailers" often work from hotel parking lots. The noise from the freeway is intolerable as semi trucks hammer the jake brakes when they approach the light. A huge video billboard lit up our room the entire night. The bathroom fan clattered loudly when it was on. It was like we were in a movie. We were exhausted and stayed one night and bailed as soon as we could the next morning. Avoid avoid avoid.

My biggest problem with the hotel was the hidden charges that were not disclosed in advance. I will not stay there again.

The bedroom, bathroom, and living room were just the right size. The only thing I didn't like was the half shower door. I've noticed this trend in other hotels, and I just prefer a full shower door. I like that the room was quiet. I'm not sure if there were just not a lot of guests on our floor. The service was 5 stars. They were very nice and helpful during our stay and when I called with questions prior to booking our room. The playpen they provided looked brand new, and they also included a fitted playpen sheet. They also had a free hot breakfast bar. It's nearby various restaurants and stores, which includes the Clackamas Town Center. I liked that it was near a Target when we needed to restock on some snacks and essentials halfway through our road trip. It felt homey and cozy after a long drive. It was one of our favorite hotels during our Oregon road trip.

The room was clean and comfortable but the HVAC kept turning itself off. One hot day we came back to a very hot room. It's a definite improvement over the holiday inn express down the road that we used to patronize. There was street racing on the 205 freeway right behind us on Friday and Saturday nights and even without the guys with loud cars and bikes we could always hear the freeway.

The previous one I stayed in So Cal was just OK w/room for improvements needed. This Clackamus location in the Portland suburbs was quite better. Free parking is great! We were warmly welcomed by the front desk. Free was clean and comfortable. The location of the hotel was distant enough for local fireworks sounds to be a non-issue. I enjoyed using the gym in the morning. It's super clean with disinfectant wipes, towels, and water refill station. There were plenty of weights, machines, exercise mat and equipment. It's very convenient to have an onsite restaurant available with Starbucks coffee and tea for purchase. Our basic breakfasts of eggs, bacon, and potatoes hit the spot. My Starbucks decaf white chocolate w/almond milk base was yum. Hubby liked the OJ. Safe, clean, comfy stay, and good front desk. 4 stars.

I am "Titanium Elite" with Marriott and usually when I check in they thank me, give me free bottled water, and offer me points or something of my choice from the market. Often times in addition they will offer me meal vouchers. I got none of that treatment at this location. They also did not upgrade my room despite the hotel not being full. The hotel internet was also slow and TOO SLOW for internet TV to work. I tried watching Netflix and Showtime on demand and they just clocked and would. It work when I tried to watch a show. By far they were the best thing about the Monarch. I will say they have a nice workout room and I also enjoyed and made use of the outdoor pool. The hotel is in a suburb a bit removed from Portland proper but there are stores nearby, restaurants, a mall, everything you might need within walking distance. We visited the Target around the corner and the Red Robin a few times each and both are no more than ten minutes walk. As for the staff, I went to the lobby a number of times to get cutlery, bowls and with other requests and they were always accommodating. On the occasions I need to urgently contact other guests, they connected me without hassle. As for our room, it was comfortable if a bit basic. We had two queen beds, a tv and a coffee maker with a mini fridge. I would have liked a kettle instead as in a tea drinker but they didn't have any. We didn't use the tv at all and on a hot weekend we had the air conditioner going constantly while in the room. It did a good job but was very loud. The showerhead was average - water pressure the same. Overall, I'm happy with my stay here and would happily stay again and recommend the hotel to friends.

I wish I could place this review there, but alas, the location is not yet available for commentary or reservations. Let's begin with check-in, which began at 2pm. We arrived at 4:30pm, and were informed that our room was not ready by a desk clerk that could barely speak English. He said we were early. We were not. He had to check multiple times with someone out of sight and be told how to word this. Apparently they hosted a wedding, and the occupants of this room wanted a very late check out. I've worked in the hotel industry for many years in a tourist town, and I know how this works. Which means, it is the job of the reservation department or front desk to say yay or nay to a very late checkout, especially during a fully booked conference weekend. I am far from the only one not severely inconvenienced by this lack of training. Our room. I am not the only one to notice this, but the ads promote pillow top mattresses. Well, once I heard other complaints, I discovered both mattresses in my room were upside down. Meaning, the pillow was on the bottom and the firm part on the top. A lot of complaints from fellow guests. This is a REALLY STUPID MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's incredibly obvious situation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Next is a minor inconvenience, but considering this is an upgraded room, there are no USB ports for device charging. My hallway door needs forced shut. This means, whenever I exit my room to participate in the convention activities I need to force the door closed. A little bit bothersome when the housekeeper next door emptied our trash and straightened our room didn't confirm the door was shut. I am buying merchandise and it is at risk for theft!! New windows were installed, and the road noise was very loud. We weren't even next to a highway or a high-speed road. The room did come with a mini fridge, which worked, and a coffee maker, which sort of worked if you held the lid down for the entire brew time. Were the K-Cups (generic brand) too large? How about a place to plug it in? We used the bathroom outlet. The beautiful new shower, no tub, had no shower shelves. The shampoo and conditioner were in little sample bottles, while the lotion and handwash were in full sized bottles attached to the wall. Of the sink. This seems backwards. The hand wash and lotion should be in trial size, and the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash should be installed in the shower. By the way, there was no body wash, only face soap that had to be stored on the shower floor. If the shower head was not aimed at the wall, water filled the bathroom floor. There was no safe, no hair dryer, no guest seating in the rooms, and no wifi. The hallway fire doors were blocked open. Stairwells are blocked off except for emergency use, and the single operational elevator sounds like something is going to break any time soon. It was so frightening and so slow that many of us took the forbidden staircases as they were far safer. Our brand new bathroom sink counter was chipped. Exposed wires hung freely under the desk. The new wallpaper around the air conditioner was bubbling. Down the hall from our room, #339, the veneer on the door was peeling. Rooms that we assume were completed had either tape residue or a washable paint on the doors. Dishes from the wedding that checked out on Friday were never picked up, at least not by Monday when we checked out. This hotel is not ADA accessible. Why the overpass was closed we couldn't tell, but especially for the mobility-impaired there was no easy way from one side of the hotel to the other. I've stayed in better Best Western's. Please see the photos I've attached.

The beds are pretty dang rickety and old - mattress was ok but probably one of the cheaper quality ones. Linens were acceptable but paper thin and very cheap. The location of this place cannot be beat--it's right off i205 about 10 mins from PDX airport, Kaiser Sunnyside Hospital, a ton of small shops, plaid pantry and an assortment of food options. I'd definitely avoid the baja fresh and go with the dave's hot chicken- so good!!! Being so close to the freeway there was a 20DB background noise till around 1am but whatever - some of the piping is very dated here and starting around 530a the showers fire up and it's very loud but not too terrible. Wifi was operable but don't expect to stream 4k oled quality here lol Customer service was excellent however and the price was right at 60 bucks a night - this is pretty much what this place was--a budget no-tell-motel that at $60 a night met my standards. The morning coffee was excellent and they do throw in a continental breakfast! I'd stay here again but not for more money unless some serious investment went in the place!
