We even decided to do a premarital counseling session with him just so we felt more comfortable on the day of the event and because it can't hurt to talk through the major issues that come up in many marriages. He is a retired navy chaplain which was the perfect choice for us since we were both raised with a religious background but are not regular church goers. We decided to incorporate some extra readings and religious elements to make the ceremony more meaningful to us but that was completely optional. My favorite part of the ceremony was the sermon he prepared. Overall Pastor Huls is very nice, down to earth, and seemed to take a genuine interest in us as a couple which was a great feeling. Everyone was complimenting us on the ceremony afterwards and saying how much they enjoyed and related to what he said. Highly recommend!

I had stopped by their booth and entered a drawing at the Bridal Bazaar and my name had been selected. Shad then let me know that he also owned a catering company called Pacific Grill Catering and wanted the opportunity to meet with us since we didn't have a caterer yet. My husband and I had already met with three caterers and were ready to make our decision and put food tasting behind us, but I let him know that we would be willing to meet with him if he could fit us in within a week. My MOH was getting married exactly two months before me and I recommended they get in touch as well. We made an appointment for the following Saturday and the food was good and better yet the price was right. I'm not gonna lie, we got a killer deal. Shad was pleasant enough, but obviously a Sales person. He kept talking about how successful he is, and everything he owned. My husband and I never make a decision without sleeping on it so we told him we would let him know the following day, either way. He said okay, but I could tell he likes to close his deals same day. None of the other caterers could compete with the price, and since the food was good and Shad said they would be willing to help pour champagne and cut cake at no extra charge, we decided to go with them. My MOH decided to go with them as well. First, my MOH's wedding came and the food was good. I was her MOH and I helped a little with coordination. One of the first things I noticed was that the photo booth they ordered wasn't there (apparently it was broken and they still have not gotten their money back!). Next, one of the girls tray passing Hors d'oeuvres was in jeans, a plaid shirt and tennis shoes. When I asked them to help pour champagne they seemed surprised, but they did help. Finally, the wedding was over and we were getting ready to leave when Shad informed us that we needed to box up all of the glassware, linens, etc. to return to them because my friend didn't pay for set up or break down. The handful of people left (including the bride and groom) spent an hour after the reception cleaning up. I was a little put off thinking that that could be the case as my wedding so I tackled it head on by emailing Shad what I had noticed and telling him I didn't want the same experience at my wedding. I didn't receive a response, I forwarded the email to another email address I had for him and explained that I'm sorry if the email is harsh, but that I wanted to address the issue with him. He called me. He said if I wanted set up and clean up I would have to pay for it because it isn't included in my contract. I explained that he gave me the impression they set up the linens, plate ware, glassware, etc. since we had talked about how I wanted the linens folded when we met. Why would we talk about the way the linens would be folded if they weren't going to set them up for me??? Anyway, I was upset because I felt like he had given me a level of expectation and now he expected me to pay extra for it. He told me that I just didn't want to pay for the extra work. Not the case. I explained that it wasn't about the money, it was about giving an expectation that you don't intend to live up to. He was upset to and was cussing while on the phone with me. At one point he told me he would give me back my deposit and I could go find another caterer. Why would you tell that to a bride 7 weeks before her wedding? I told him that I would pay them and to send over the new contract. My wedding day came and went without a hitch. The food was good and the servers were all dressed appropriately. They set up and broke down per our contract. However, despite that fact that the actual wedding day went well I would not recommend Pacific Grill Catering to anyone due to the fact that Shad Kirvin owns part of it. The way he treated me was not worth the savings we received. Had Shad addressed the problem from a customer service point of view I would have been find with paying more for extra service of setup and breakdown. Instead he cussed and caused more stress during the already stressful wedding planning process. If you decide wo going with them, make sure you get everything written into the contract.

Steven had every song I could ask for,and even remixes of some of my favorite songs I've never heard before. He seemed to know exactly which song to play at the right time to get everyone dancing and keep the guests smiling. He was friendly, professional,on time and so helpful with making sure my guests were having a good time. Everything ran smooth and the dance floor was packed all night long. I even had multiple guests contact me afterwards to ask me who my DJ was at my party, and asking for his contact info. Steven helped make my event a total success. Thanks so much DJ Disco Duro!

Steven (DJ Disko Duro) came to my house for an Ableton Live training session, which he has been…read moreintensively advertising on Craigslist. The first few times that we scheduled a lesson, he had to postponed at the last minute because of scheduling issue. When we finally made it, he arrived three hours late, because his previous lesson apparently took longer than expected. The lesson lasted a couple of hours, and despite my best efforts to describe precisely what it is that I knew, and that I was looking for, both in writings and during the first minutes of the class, Steven was could not provide an organized session and kept jumping from one topic to the next. He clearly did not know Ableton 10 for what I needed to do, and kept searching and clicking around to figure it out, telling me that the newest version had changed around. After two hours were gone, we really achieved nothing constructive, and I felt as I had made absolutely no progress and still knew the same thing I had learned from watching a few youtube videos prior to him coming. Steven still wanted to be paid his high rate pro-rated at the minute (so I was essentially charged for the rambling about his life and experience and his research on how to achieve certain things in Ableton). But what really bothered me is that during the class Steven noticed my trial version of the Ableton Live! software had expired and he OFFERED to install an "educational version". As it turns out it was a PIRATED SOFTWARE with a copy-protection removal utility. And at the end of the class, he added an EXTRA $100 TO CHARGE FOR THE PIRATED COPY of Ableton he installed on my computer !!!! I refused to pay and I reformatted-reinstalled the operating system on my computer because after he left, because he had me disable my antivirus to run the license-key generator software and I was too scared to run a virus. I got so upset at this, I had to write a review. This is the first time I ever posted on Yelp, but I am so outraged that someone who poses as an experienced teacher on a topic that he turns out doesn't master, who came 3 hours late, and delivered rather than asking to be paid a high rate for every single minute of his time and has the audacity to charge $100 for a pirated software he offered to installm that I had to post it. The only thing Steven apologized for after the lesson is the body odor (seriously) because he said he didn't get a chance to change. I will not use DJ Disko Duro Steven services ever again.

I have been looking for the perfect work of art to put on a wall at home. That search finally ended…read moreWednesday (08-14-2013) at the O.B. Farmer's Market when I came across Russell J Hart and his stand 'Shot from the hart.' I was immediately drawn to Russell's works of art. Russell had an amazing spin on photography. Russell images are simply breath taking. Russell takes his photos and superimposes them onto tin, turns the backside of the tin into a magnet and then places the work of art onto a piece of metal that acts as a frame. Russell has patented this idea=) Russell had plenty of small photos that could be placed directly onto a refrigerator at home but one image really stood out to me. The image was 1 photo taken from underneath of the OB Pier where I first learned to love the Ocean and OB still holds a special place in my heart. I have so many good memories of the OB Pier and OB in general. What makes this photo so special is that this photo was enlarger and cut into 4 different pieces, placed on a metal backing / frame and made to look like you are looking out a window at the OB Pier. The second I saw this work of art I knew I had to have it. The price was reasonable and in my heart I knew it was the right choice. I knew when I saw the image, painting and/or work of art it would seek me out and demand I take it home and this is exactly what this image / work of art did. Russell himself is an amazing soul. Russell is a gifted artist / photographer. His soul, inner being and energy is contagious and you cannot help but feel that you are truly obtaining a work of art 'shot from the heart' by Russell and 'shot from the hart.' Before I even walked away from Russell's stand I began receiving compliments on my new purchase. As I walked down Newport with this amazing work of art under my arm I received compliment after compliment. I even visited another photographer further down the street that was in awe of my purchase. I am so stoked with my purchase. In some cases when you drop some serious $$$ on anything the day after you might have buyer's remorse but not in this case. I look forward to walking in my door at home at seeing this amazing piece. No matter how good or bad your day might be going you can simply look at this work of art and be taken back to this trip and the memories you have of OB. Without question our paths were meant to meet. I am so stoked with my purchase. I wish I could give Russell 10 stars but Yelp limits me to 5. If you are looking for a piece of amazing art for anywhere in your home or office look no further than Russell Hart and 'Shot from the Hart' photography. I also find fantastic is that Russell is also available to shoot weddings, family portraits, parties & pets. No matter what you need to have photographed Russell is available to be there, he is only a phone call away. I already have a couple ideas in mind for Russell and his amazing eye of photography. If you find yourself in OB and don't have cash on hand don't fret Russell accepts credit cards run through Square on his Iphone. I am moving back to Colorado soon and wanted a special way to commemorate my six years in Ocean Beach. I had purchased some of his smaller magnets and knew I wanted the OB pier as a central photo with two smaller photographs on the sides. Russ immediately started going through his pictures in the studio to build a complimentary display. He then asked if he could take some time to come up with options for the 3 picture display. We communicated via telephone and email and he gave me multiple options (searching his entire photography database) and came up with so many beautiful displays it was hard to choose! I cannot wait to hang them in my new home. Thank you Russ for your time, artist's eye, and personal attention on this very meaningful project for me. You're the best!

Kept me waiting for seven hours to cancel. This cost me time off work times two. Power was being…read moreturned off and I would have had to pay an extra day of rent. The supervisor would not even take my call! I am VERY disappointed in their lack of communication and accessibility. My move ended up costing me double because I had to find a last minute company to move me. Plus because of renovations happening at my old place they poured flooring and fumes were so bad the guy doing the work wore a head to toe haz mat suit and mask, goggles. This would have sickened me and my cat, I had no option but to get it done on the day I was scheduled. This was much much more than an inconvenience, it was inexcusable. I did get my deposit back in two days so they are true to their word that it would be, that is good business practice! I appreciate the workers who had Covid called out sick, I am at high risk and to have sick movers would have been even worse.

They performed for a number of events I have been at, such as birthday parties, Channukus, Christmas, etc etc, and they seem to know darned near everything. One afternoon we tried to play "Stump The Band" and they beat us! Anyway, you'll love 'em, just like we do!
