This service is the most unique thing out there for truly difficult communications. I have read all of the negative reviews, and they are nearly word-for-word how my difficult co-parent feels about the service. I, however, am so appreciative of review staff for making sure a) both parties stick to the facts, b) both parties stick to the matter at hand, and 3) providing feedback and support very quickly. One of the most common complaints is that there is not a phone number to call, but there is a "schedule a call" option with support, and if you open a support ticket and ask for a call, they will usually call you. There is a support tab that has several ways of contacting CC staff, for technical website issues, for general feedback, for an issue with the OP, etc. My co-parent likes to twist facts to suit his reality, he likes to cuss and call people names and threaten them to intimidate them, and he likes to play victim and send long drawn-out emails with his sad stories. All of that is now taken out by Civil Communicator, and I don't have to read it. It has been a game-changer for my mental health. The judge in my case ruled that this platform was necessary for communication about the child because I was receiving concerning and harassing emails from my co-parent. The Judge also ruled that the other party is responsible for the cost of both parties. I pay for myself annually so that I don't lose access to the service, and the other party reimburses me. At first, I had to purchase extra credits (which I could have asked for OP to pay but I did not, I paid for them myself) to do all I needed, but after year one, I felt confident using the service, confident of knowing when I should add a coach or when my communications would be approved, confident that if anything were to threaten my safety review staff would alert me of such (like aggressive/threatening messages from the other party). This service is NOT going to "make things better" in regards to your relationship with the other party. This is not "mediation" nor counseling. This is a service that "mediates," which means "monitors and edits/rejects when necessary." Just like a mediator, they are at liberty to use some judgment when enforcing the rules. And if you have any problems with their reviews, you can open a support ticket and let them know. Sometimes you understand their reasoning and accept their call, sometimes they understand your reasoning and reverse their decision (and return any credits used). When you're dealing with difficult people, there is no service nor treatment that will make them less difficult. So this service creates a way to work WITH a difficult person despite their demeanor. If the difficult person, like most of these reviews were written by, decides to just stop communicating because "poor me, it's too difficult to abide by rules..." that is their own choice. This service is going to allow two people who cannot, will not ever, get along still be able to a) schedule visits, b) discuss medical concerns and c) track child support payments so that the best interests of the child are pursued. None of the resulting nastiness from the divorce is allowed to be brought up. If you are divorcing an extremely difficult person (narcissistic, abusive, addicted, etc...) that attempts to control every conversation, blame-shift, and distract with a sob story, this service will be extremely helpful in eliminating that part of the communication, and thereby serving the victim of the difficult person with better mental health and support in enforcing healthy boundaries with the difficult person. read more

ZERO STARS. This "service" is still the worst and should not be used by anyone. All coaching messages have been rejected and then had account suspended for them NOT providing any sort of coaching; just sent them on anyway. OP has zero consistency in parenting and refusing to work on things like passports and respecting anyone's else's opinion. I have never felt worse about my own mental health than when I have to try to negotiate the randomness of Civil Communicator guidelines. read more

One star. Civil Communicator is a court ordered communication platform that can block the very communication it is supposed to preserve. When a tool is mandatory, reliability is not a nice to have. It is the whole job. In my history with the service, messages written in a neutral tone, focused on logistics, were rejected or held with vague labels and no actionable guidance. That forced repeated rewrites of the same point just to get a message through. It did not reduce conflict. It created delay, confusion, and more message volume. The platform also imposed "daily communication limit" throttles that blocked follow ups, including when timing mattered. I also experienced a suspension tied to unclear moderation or rate limit actions, without a fast, predictable appeal process or a clear explanation that would prevent a repeat. A court ordered system that can cut off access, even briefly, can manufacture noncompliance on paper. Support did not match the stakes. Responses were slow and generic, and the so called coaching did not resolve inconsistent enforcement. The system also penalized basic documentation, like including dates, references, or links, which forced fragmented messages and unnecessary back and forth. If you are picking a co parenting platform for anything court related, this is the wrong design. The record should reflect parent behavior, not the mood of an opaque filter. A court should not mandate a tool that can block time sensitive logistics, apply unclear standards, and then leave parents to clean up the mess it created. read more

Civil Communicator - Account suspension without due process - Divorce & Family Law Near Me

Just wait, you will realize that this system is unregulated with no oversight. AI should be the mandatory requirement if the humans that are actually providing the reviews become biased. When you try to file a complaint. Which, by the way, they violate your constitutional right, to have due process to file retaliation with evidence, the person that you're filing the complaint from is the one who vets that it blockades access to due process. Its court approved legal abuse In every other circumstance of the court and it's appointments such as cfis, mental health evaluators, atyorneys all have guidelines that they need to follow and have qualifications. The reviewers are anonymous and likely very unqualified. In my particular case with screenshots, as evidence, one of my reviewers was texting me from their personal phone number and encouraging to engage in conflict. When they were called out on that, they retaliated They will violate there own internal ethics and statutory limits. Any written or verbal statements provided to the court that are not qualified based on credential. Civil communicator revieers are prohibited from interpreting the deeper meaning behind messages, assessing the psychological intent of the sender, or providing an official professional diagnosis of high-conflict behavior. It's a violation of due process to interfere with a person's right to file a grievance or retaliation complaint. Doing so constitutes is interference, and in many cases, separate retaliation in itself. read more

Dads. Do NOT agree to use this service. It is not there to help. They make communication impossible. Inconsistent in their critique of messages, and in my case, with much bias. For your kids sake, stay OFF this site. Zero Star Rating read more

LAWYERS & LAWMAKERS: DO NOT recommend this glitched, shameful, garbage "technology" to your clients. "Reviewers" lack the ability to comprehend English and send innacurate, incorrect information in messages they take the liberty of rewriting without approval. This is an expensive scam and burden to parents attempting to communicate. Zero response to all attempts to communicate with this company to express my concerns. TECHNOLOGY ENTREPRENEURS: This is a great business opportunity to create competition and put Civil Communicator out of business. Absolutely not - this is the antithesis of great. The worst service for communication. The reviewers' biased and inconsistent with enforcing their policies. The fees are expensive for service and there is little if any resolution for complaints or issues. There are far better alternatives that are less expensive, better platforms, better apps and provide reasonable customer support. Bottom line is avoid using civil communicator. read more

Civil Communicator has been LIFE-CHANGING. If you're forced to co-parent with a controlling, abusive ex, this service is a necessity. It provides peace of mind, enforces boundaries, and ensures that every interaction is monitored for civility. Because of them I communicate without fear of being manipulated, harassed, or emotionally drained. Unlike other co-parenting apps, Civil Communicator has human reviewers who make sure that messages remain respectful and free from abuse. The difference this has made in my life is immeasurable. I no longer dread checking messages, and I don't have to waste energy arguing or defending myself against constant provocation. I've seen some negative reviews, and let's be honest those are likely from people who don't want their behavior held accountable. If you're dealing with someone who thrives on conflict, this service will change everything for you for the better. Civil Communicator is worth every cent and in my opinion priceless for the sanity, security, and empowerment it provides. read more

I requested to use civil communicator because the features sounded like what we needed. I was dissapoonted when my co parent refused to use the additional features like calendar and finances so requested to have it shut off and find something else. to my amazement they won't turn it off and I get inundated with messages and harassment. when I reply to most communications it is rejected. do yourself a favor and save the money, this is a trap that not only won't turn off but will lead to layers of frustration beyond belief. terrible terrible service terrible support terrible company read more

Do not use this service. They are great, until they aren't, and then they are spiteful and impossible to work with. This app does not actually help with "civil communication ". Pertinent questions or information is often rejected in a seemingly arbitrary way leaving a parent unable to get a time sensitive answer. AWFUL! Do not use this app! If I could give it 0.00 stars, I certainly would. This service is not good. It is completely biased and its in-consistent made-up guidelines for communication not only prohibit actual progress between feuding parents but also antagonize more issues. And let's not forget who REALLY suffers here. The children. @Civilcommunicator - you think you are doing well because profits are up. Well. maybe think about the kids' lives you are helping to destroy. You are about to enter the third circle of hell....turn away now. If you are reading this review please accept my condolences because if you didn't already know it - you are already in the first circle of hell, and you are now on the precipice of entering the third. Allow me to explain: Given that you have found yourself searching for reviews of this site, you have found yourself squarely in the first circle of hell - Divorce. You likely have children which will force you to communicate with an insufferable, narcissistic ex until those children turn 18. I am sorry! I don't want to pull any punches, but I have to inform you that you may actually be in the second circle of hell - the US family court system. If you are here and you have not watched Divorce Corp (free on YouTube) you definitely should to inform your experience while here. Buckle up it is an ugly ride! It is my sincere hope that this review will save you from entering the third circle of hell - The Civil Communicator Inferno. Unfortunately, I was unable to save myself from this realm - it's not too late for you. I entered into Civil Communicator hell on December 20th of 2021 when I agreed ( based on opposing counsel's recommendation) to utilize this site to communicate with my ex. The site purports to be a communication platform whose goal is to help parents improve their communication skills - I have not found that to be an accurate reflection of their 'service'. They publish their "communication guidelines" which will seem reasonable until you actually attempt to communicate with your co-parent. You will find that the people on the review team interpret and enforce their "guidelines" with a wild and random abandon that will vary to an unimaginable extent. As a result of this, you will be forced to ask for coaching on every communication, just to get your correspondence through their system without receiving a communication demerit. Of course, and by design, this is going to end up costing you more money. Their review system is truly nightmarish, but it gets worse. On two different occasions, I intended to send communication to my co-parent about what I perceived to be very unethical behavior on the part of his attorney. This unethical behavior was preventing us from reaching a settlement on our outstanding issues. However, instead of sending the correspondence to my co-parent as I intended, they sent the correspondence to his lawyer and NOT my ex. They did not inform me that they had done this, and they definitely did not copy my lawyer on the matter to even attempt to display a modicum of impartiality. Unscrupulously conspiring with opposing council (not coincidently the lawyer that pushed for the use of the service) served to further increase the hostility between all parties. It is not a coincidence that nearly 15 months later we are still litigating the same issue. If you watch the documentary - you will see this is a feature of the system and not a flaw. Civil communicator is a gold star example of the unethical greed that permeates our family court system and serves solely to escalate the conflict and frustration between parties that are already in a difficult situation in the service of financial gain. So please save yourself from the ghastly hellscape that is Civil Communicator. Had I known then, what I know now, I absolutely would not agree to utilize this service unless it was the last means of communication available on earth and the health and safety of my children depended on its use. read more

This program is meant for helping communication, but I will tell you it does nothing but piss you off. This program has a middle man reviewing messages only during daytime hours. Your ex can flag you, causing every photo you upload to be using credits to upload. Every message costs credits. If you message 5 times a day, that is your maximum communication throughout the day. The next message will just have to be sent tomorrow. Also the reviewers will reject any message that carries facts of information that does not have documentation to prove it. I find this program so frustrating. I have to send a message 2-3 times to get it to finally go through. I message support and they don't answer my questions. I say a curse word of my frustrations within the support and then they block my communications for 24 hours. If you have the choice, stay in Talking Parents because this program will enrage you when your communications are mostly blocked. It will just make you not want to communicate at all. I agreed to this during mediation to agree to a lesser child support, while now trying to get this program removed, the courts will not take time to review this and keeps me stuck within this program and the sore communication it allows. Every sentence must be politically correct. Accidental repetition, passive aggressive remarks, use of facts without documentation will get every message rejected. read more

its helpful in helping an abusive ex get tampered down, but do not count on the service moderators for any real protection. they are just doing a job by guidelines and want extra for every little thing. the other party, if manipulative like mine, will figure out ways around the system and the moderators do not care. They allow it to happen and just point the rules. my ex realized if you press emergency he can say whatever he wants. The moderators not only don't care, but penalized me for kindly asking why this is allowed saying it was inappropriate. I was not rude. what I am is a person who was in an abusive relationship with a court ordered judgement against her ex who has to pay for this service as a result. I am scared and desperate for help and they made it worse nor better. This service did stop the 30 some abusive emails and calls every single day, but any type of real help once in the system is not provided nor is any context considered. I would give zero stars if I can, terrible like extremely bad to point that I formally believe it is a sexist and biased tool to control men. the biggest problem I have is the double standard, I literally tried to use the same words the mother has used with me and they accepted her messages but mine was rejected, I submitted a support ticket but as usual, it never gets answered. I hope there is some kind of accountability from the court, this service doesn't even have a phone to call or a clear address. they never respond to anything, they reject and revised a message without letting you approve it before sending it. they are completely taking advantage of fathers who love their children and want to check on them. If I could rate this a zero, I would. This site is expensive, time consuming, has numerous ridiculous rules, and there is an enormous lag time when sending communications. It is poorly laid out and extremely confusing. Messages often are coded with a communication ID that you have to go back to reference. Who has time for that? For those of you that have a crazy ex, this site does not help! In my opinion it only made communication worse. The CC team often revised my communications changing what I said completely. In addition, the other party can pay to read rejected messages. What's the point of "rejecting" communication if the other party can still see what you wrote? My ex is so crazy that he sends his lawyer and our kids counselor screen shots of the analytics of our communications. He would then point out how many of my communications were rejected or revised. Most of the communications were revised because I failed to select the "correct" communication category or I didn't reference the correct communication ID. I wouldn't recommend this communication site if they paid me to. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!!!! read more

I would select 0 stars if I could, but I wasn't able to. This is one of the worst parenting programs out there! They are grammar nazi's and will reject messages on that basis. They reject many messages, so it will force you to burn through your daily credits. They know nothing about your life or situation, but yet they act like they do by dictating what information is passed along and what isn't. If you give any push back on your rejected messages, they will just suspended your account. There is no customer service and their coaching is bullshit. If you read the examples on their website of their rejected messages, it makes sense. But when you start doing business with them, they will reject a majority of your messages just so you will burn through your 5 daily credits just trying to relay 1 message. They are a SCAM and not worth even wasting your time with. Try Talking Parents or any other of the court approved programs that are out there. I've used a few other programsthat are out there, and this is by far the ABSOLUTE WORST one!!! I'm surprised they are even able to stay in business. Dont say I didn't warn you to STAY AWAY! read more

My 2 children have serious mental and physical issues and CC limiting to 1000 characters and many other arbitrary rules don't allow for adequate communication. My Ex was allowed to break the rules, for just one example, of hearsay, in particular. I was not. When I complain of this, CC says they don't need to respond to any of my complaints. This is not about "Civil Communication", it is about control. I'm not going to fund a service that's not in service of its participants and their children, nor is accountable for their arbitrary big brotherhood. Women don't communicate the way CC rules dictate, which is sexist. These arbitrary and sexist rules have allowed my Ex to not communicate with me adequately and duck responsibility. Men are fine with no communication. The children suffer for this. Who, exactly, is CC helping? 2 years on this AP has resulted in LESS communications with my Ex and has resulted in me being estranged from my son. CC is partially responsible for this. read more

O my. I am the one in our case advocating for the usage of this program but it is a choose your poison scenario. Downside - It's a fortune. These are humans so they 1) will get involved in the drama and act on their own feelings especially if you criticize anything they've done and 2) not apply the rules consistently. There is NO customer service and that is by design. They stop the other party from constantly getting on me and being outright horrendous but they don't stop him from being nasty in a less forward way. Rather than dealing with feelings of a nasty ex calling you names, you're dealing with what feels like a unjust or poorly administered ruling on a message. Unless you are someone ripping your hair out at communications from the other party and there is no end in sight, save your money (and it's a lot). I think this would be appropriate for 1/10,000 cases and it is not run well so you'll have to accept that it's a poor product. It will not fix problems. Just shift it to a less personal aggravation. read more

All the worst reviews are true. These reviews don't matter to the company since they have zero motivation to change anything since they are now widely used by the courts. The website succeeds at one thing - making worse a situation that was already difficult by preventing crucial communications to take place and choose whenever they feel like applying guidelines. $400 per year gets you 30 APPROVED monitored messages. Extra messages cost $75 per 25. Imagine a cell phone service from the 90s with unbelieve rates and they reject half your messages but gladly offer to sell you more service. That's civil communicator in nutshell. Do better. read more

Everything the reviews on other sites are saying is true. That includes the positive ones. I don't believe the positive reviews are paid as other reviews have claimed. I'm sure they're just the one side that Civil Communicator chose to back that is completely happy with their experience. I don't know if this is always the woman - though that seems to be the case from all of the reviews. The app asks you to write an armistice while not allowing any mention of the war. It is impossible to have any actual communication, which seems to be what the "happy" side is looking for when choosing this app. My ex confessed to Child Protective Services to attempting to murder our daughter, which CPS says is fine since she's on anti-depressants now. I cannot mention her diagnosis or the attempted murder through this app. They claim its inappropriate, which is against their guidelines. The app doesn't allow documentation while also demanding documentation to bring up absolutely anything discussed outside the app (including your entire history before using it). So any in person or voice conversations never happened as far as they're concerned. What you do have in writing can theoretically be attached in a message so that you can bring up something previously discussed. When you try to do so you see that you can only pull up documents loaded into their shared library. When you try to load one of these conversations into their shared library it is refused because "the other party is already aware of this conversation". There is "coaching" available at the cost of your credits (yes, even for their fee which is higher than other apps, you still don't have unlimited communication with what is essentially your free email with features cut). However all of my coaching tickets are closed without response, including questioning how to get around their catch 22 to reference outside conversations. Their bias is present throughout as mentioned by other reviews. If my ex says "no" to something, that's the end of the conversation. Any further messages will be rejected with "asked and answered". When I say no, my ex can keep asking as much as she pleases with no interference. Their own analytics prove their bias. You can see how many messages both sides sent and the app will show how many were accepted, revised*, or rejected. One side will show 100% accepted and the other a split. *As mentioned in other reviews, my revised messages were often revised to completely change their meanings. Their reviewers would change a "yes" to a "no" - In more words, they probably didn't even realize they were doing it, but that's the trouble with trying to jump into a conversation with zero facts and background. Even though the goal should be to help communication and ease tension, Civil Communicator often creates fights due to their ignorance and terrible review policies. It quickly got to the point where I ended my subscription and let my Ex know I would no longer be using the app, that zero communication would actually be preferable (and this was her goal, so she should have been happy). Civil Communicator would not let me send this message though I tried multiple times. They labeled it "Inappropriate" and "Unnecessary" (the same tags I got when bringing up my daughter's safety with a woman that confessed to trying to murder her). So when my current subscription runs out we'll be at zero communication, and one side isn't aware. Civil Communicator won't let her be aware. read more
