There are no words to express the hospitality and generosity of Ginevra and her family. We came to stay here after a day at the valley of the temples and were very much looking forward to some time on a pastoral farm to take in the sites. We had no idea how incredibly special this place really would be. The view from the living room is breathtaking - rolling hills to soak in from floor to ceiling windows. Beautiful art books piled high with plenty of cushy, comfortable seating. A great pool table that entertained our kids endlessly. And that was just the living room! The pool is the perfect size for a dip with nice chairs and that view as well. It was a relief to have a cool spot after a long hot day. A stroll down the hill takes you through orchards of fruit trees, olive trees, pistachio trees - some ancient spots with careful signage, parrots, donkeys, ostriches...we were there too short to enjoy many of the other wonderful features of the farm but that was our fault: we misbooked our stay and Ginevra could not have been nicer or more generous about it. Ginevra's cooking is fantastic! Come starving. Definitely book your dinners with her - everything was exceptionally good, homey, wonderfully presented. She even shared her amazing caponata recipe with us. Breakfast was the same: everything your heart could possibly desire was on hand. My kids also really enjoyed their time with the kids of the house - they were an equal delight and tremendously welcoming little ones. Ginevra is lovely to speak with in English or Italian (very patient with my halting vocabulary). The family room served us well with a large bed for the adults, 2 twin beds for the kids. My one quibble is that the air struggled in the room when we were there but to be fair, it was in the midst of a tremendous heatwave. I'm sure they have looked after it since then. Don't hesitate to stay at Ciuci's manor. Yes, it's a bit off the beaten path but not far from the valley from the temples (but far enough to feel like another world). It's a wonderful respite with incredibly generous hosts. They deserve our highest recommendation. read more
