I didn't know much about Belfast but I certainly knew that it was home of Game Of Thrones…read moreproduction. This Game Of Thrones Tour offers two routes from Belfast. South route(Winterfell) and North route(Ironisland). Since north route sounded more scenic as it goes along Northern Irish coast, we chose the latter. It was £50 per person and whole day affair. So, make sure to leave your entire day open for this. We rendezvoused at Jury's hotel at 7:45am and boarded on the bus. And our guide Richard was an extra in the show himself. His red long beard once made me think that he was a Tormond's stunt double.(but he wasn't) Entire way through he was talking but NEVER ONCE I wanted him to be quiet. Because he was very informative and HILARIOUS! They are also equipped with plenty of House of Greyjoy costume and weapons(swords and axes) for photo shoot. Although we were tourists, we became the attraction ourselves when people saw us in the group wearing those, carrying weapon at the House of Greyjoy site. Every stop was breathtakingly scenic. I honestly think that you can still enjoy even if you don't watch the show. Definitely check this tour out and ask for Richard. He's really a fun guy.

This is my second GOT tour. I was supposed to do two tours from Belfast: Winterfell, and Iron…read moreIslands. But due to storm Erik, one had to be cancelled. The communication was clear and they allowed me to choose which tour to do instead, and I chose Iron Islands. The pick-up time was exactly what was stated on the itinerary...actually, the bus was already parked at the meeting point 10 minutes early. The guide I got was Richard and I automatically thought in my head: "he must be a Wildling...maybe, even Tormund". A few minutes later, I saw a guy that look like Ser Davos who parked right in front of our tour bus! The tour was informative without being boring. And in true GOT fashion, there were curse words...yeah!!! We went to several filming locations in the northeastern part of Northern Ireland. Oh my, were the sites amazingly beautiful! We had a lunch stop at a GOT-themed bar in Ballintoy. We had a reasonable amount of stops to see sites, stretch our legs, grab a quick snack/ drink, and bathroom break. The bus has a USB power outlet which I didn't discover until we were almost back to Belfast. This was one of the most memorable parts of my European vacation. And whatever I did and wherever I went prior to doing this tour, I had forgotten about already. I'd have to come back to Belfast to do the Winterfell tour and meet the Direwolves as well.

The trails were beautiful, filled with lots of greens and MOSQUITOS! Be careful, I didn't count them, but there were millions!!! Aside from the mosquitos, my husband loved it! He wore his cloak and took some pretty cool pictures! It was nice to see him so excited. Aside from the tour we did, they have others: Archery movie set experiences, The Narrow Sea boat voyage, Tyrion's Axe Throwing experience, Luxury Private Tours for Winterfell & Kingdom of Mourne/Luxury Private Tours for Dragonstone & Giants Causeway, Glamping Overnight Mini Breaks, and Meet the Direwolves at Winterfell Castle. They have a pretty cool but expensive gift shop as well for all of you hard core GOT fans. Tip: Online booking is highly recommended! Irelands only Game of Thrones Visitor Attraction.

Google map shows that there is a way to get here via public transportations, but definitely easier and time efficient to drive down here yourself. Admission was £8.50 per person just to get in. There are guided tour via bicycle. Although Winterfell's distinctive disk shaped roofs are all CG works, you'll recognize these buildings from "in the castle view". There are few sites in this compound that were used for other scenes such as Audley's Castle where Rob Stark set the camp during the battle of Oxcross(where he received the news of his father's death). Everything here got me excited "oh yeah! I remover here! This is from that scene!" Although I came here on my own, I'd recommend to come here via gameofthronestours.com. It's £50. Coming here on my own cost far more(£120 for rental car alone). If you are a huge GoT fan, this place is a must!

This is the walking tour you're looking for…read more Belfastology is the one-man LLC of Marti, a true local champion, horticulturist, history buff, moccasin-wearing institution. A Belfast native, he grew up during the era of the Troubles, but his memory stretches from the settlement days and in and around every corner. You'll find on his eclectic tours that you can steer the discussion in any direction you wish. You'll only fail at trying to temper his enthusiasm. I understand that he offers tours that focus on history or street art or other specific subjects or neighborhoods, but I imagine your best bet would be to do as we did and just unleash him. Belfast is a city with good restaurants and attractions but a good tour helps bring out the incredibly rich history and will certainly show you a hole-in-the-wall or two you'd never have otherwise found. We went out on the town for a pretty unscripted three hours. My 78 year-old father started to fade along the way, so Marti detoured to a nearby spot for a quick cuppa, enabling our small group the legs to carry on. Next time I may leave Dad behind in order that I might test Marti's stamina in full. And if you still aren't convinced this is a great way to introduce yourself to local lore, take a gander at the glowing comments on Trip Advisor.
