(I was so grateful they were open. What medical practice is open Christmas Eve?) Can't remember the name of the PA I saw at that time, but he was very knowledable & pleasant. The wait time both times was minimal. Office staff helpful & professional. Today I saw Dr. McClendon & both my husband (who was in the room with me) & I thought he was terrific. He explained everything in very easy to understand language. He answered all of our questions. Great bedside manner. Never felt rushed. Am thankful that when you get sick on holidays or weekends, Throgs Neck Walk In Urgent Care is open. It beats the heck out of waiting hours hours in an Emergency Room.

I was not sure of my copay and she was not sure either about billing, so called my insurance company etc. it took them almost 30-40min to get me in the system and taken in the exam room. The assistant was very kind. It is a pity that I don't remember her name but she was the best part of this visit. She really did make sure to take all my symptoms into account and listened to me. She did make sure I received my medicine at my pharmacy. They did a flu test to make sure I am not under the flu. The doctor was quick and on point. He seemed very busy and in and out to the room. Overall the 3stars goes to quality of care and the lovely assistant. What really makes this experience hard to count as a great one is that, the overall visit was so slow. From the registration to the exam room, from the doctor visit to prescription, it took me 2h to get out with a lot of frustration. I was really short in time to pick up my daughter- which I brought up several times. But nothing was able to expedite the process.I understand delays when a place is packed but it seemed to me that clinic was deserted and I saw two patients in the clinic at the time. Not sure what is the exact cause. Overall, the visit was okay but I chose not to go back to this clinic due to various reasons: one is long processing time and also the fact that traffic in this area is very hectic, hard to find a parking. Last reason is when I called them today, whether they take appointments or not, the person over the phone was not very kind or helpful (just saying "no we don't" doesn't really help) And it appears that with a little search, I was able to find another urgent care closer to me and which did perform better at the turn over time with pleasant customer service.

The good - It was in our neighborhood…read more - It was empty. No patients. - They report that they're a pediatric urgent care. - They confirmed that the guardian that was present with infant was the parent. - They asked for the reason of the visit. The bad - Infant came in with a fever of 101.8 (rectal). No medication given prior to the visit. - Took over an hour to get seen by the provider. - Checked infant's temperature through forehead thermometer (97.9) - The Medical assistant (M.A.)/front desk asked the mother to swab the infant instead of taking the initiative. - The M.A. was on a personal call throughout the visit. - The scale to weigh the infant was broken and they did not ask the parent for infant's last weight. - Didn't ask the parent for medical history/allergies. - The Medical equipment were either missing or broken. I.e. (Otoscope, infant scale, stethoscope). - Medical supplies scattered everywhere. - Gloves worn all over and not changed. - No soap available near sinks to wash hands. - M.A. waited for parent to pay the co-pay before giving a statement about recommending going to the emergency room instead of being there. (A statement stuck behind a pay wall.) - Lack of an exam. "Medical provider" (did not introduce herself) came in the room. Parent stated it was a fever. The "provider" reviewed her chart. Sees that infant has a fever. Anything else wrong with the infant? Parent brought up the ear discharge. No Otoscope to use to inspect. Shined a light to the ear. Observed the infant's ears from a distance and determined ear infection. When asked if she is going to examine the ear; "Provider" admitted that they don't have the means to do so. Parent observed stethoscope around "provider's" neck but she did not listen to infant's heart or lungs. "Provider" stated that they will send antibiotics and Tylenol to the pharmacy without asking about allergies or verifying weight. The medication dosing/schedule was not clear. The ugly - Everything

Sat in the waiting room for 10 minutes to tell the doctor my condition didn't improve and then have her say: "Well there is nothing else I can do for you here, I'm going to get you a referral." Waited 5 minutes for the doctor to say "I don't know a specialist in the area. You should take this referral and call your primary care doctor for a specialist" When calling yesterday to settle my 150 dollar payment for the first visit I was informed I was being charged an ADDITIONAL 150 dollars for the doctor telling me she can't do anything else and to call my primary care to get the name of a specialist to use the referral. What's worse is the person over the phone was very dismissive when I asked about the charge for the second visit. He went on to say that he'd just charge me fully for both visits and I could call back on Monday to talk about the second charge. Definitely won't be returning to this place. For anyone needing to just go back for a follow up and possible referral see if you can save yourself and use phone or email I'm not unruly, 150 for the first visit is fine. There was time and effort put in by the doctor but being charged another 150 for my second visit given how it went is absolutely ridiculous If the payment gets adjusted or refunded in fairness ill change this review but until then I think its crazy how things are run at this place.

My mother said that she never encountered such a rude medical "professional". She was argumentative, combative and ill-mannered, right from the start. My mother said that the lady arrived late to work and came in mad. She did not want to be there and flat out told my mother she doesn't want to help her, and can't help her. She even had the nerve to accuse my mother of being argumentative, but all my mother wanted to do was give her a little background about what made her come in today, but she couldn't do any of that because this "professional" kept interrupting her. This medical "professional " said she doesn't want to hear her history, doesn't have time to hear her story and just wants to know the reason why she is there today. My mother said that this lady kept cutting her off and wouldn't even let her speak. My mother had to tell her about the history of why she's there in order for the doctor to give her proper treatment. Well she never got any treatment. How is any of this acceptable?? This lady then had the nerve to storm out of the exam room and then another nurse or assistant came inside and told my mother she should go see her primary instead. The whole point of my mother even going to the urgent care was because her primary was unavailable this weekend. After all this, the front desk told my mother that they will not be charging her for today's visit since no one was able to help her. Let's see about that. My mother has been there several times before, so that's why she came back to this urgent care, but she said that this doctor or nurse practitioner that she saw initially today might have been new because she doesn't remember ever seeing her before. For this urgent cares sake, I hope they let this woman go, and she clearly needs to change professions or maybe seek her own professional help before returning to serve the public. Unbelievable. She's informative, she doesn't rush you. She encourages you to ask questions and is very very nice. the office in Westchester is clean and spacious, you're not on top of other patients and they are very quick and efficient. the front desk clerk is friendly and always asks about your pharmacy to make sure everything goes to the right place. I love coming to this location.
