It was so relaxing to have our own in room sauna. The room itself was great too. The bed was really comfortable and the room was very spacious. The hotel also had an exceptional breakfast included each morning. The room, service, upgrade and breakfast all exceeded our expectations. The only thing is I wish I'd taken more photos.

Perfect use of space without feeling cramped. There's a sauna on the 8th floor. A small one, but I only encountered one other guest when I was there. Hours are a bit limited, and they separate male and female times. Choose wisely. Breakfast is included, and they have a lot to choose from. The only disappointment for me was the scrambled eggs. Not quite like the ones back home, but maybe I need to be more open minded. There were many pastries, fruits, yogurts, smoothies, breads, meats, cereals, and the coffee machine produces excellent lattes. I would strongly consider staying here again the next time I'm in Helsinki.

We were dropped at Hotel Scandic Paasi which was near the train station and surrounded by lush trees and nearby markets and restaurants. The Hotel is a 3/4 star rated and they had wines and crackers at the table, as we entered a dimly lit and small welcome and check in counter. I was assigned at the second floor and to my surprise, I had a huge bathtub and while we are saving water in California, they seem to have plenty in Finland. After all, they shared that they're surrounded by lakes and rivers, located all over the country. The room was well decorated, sheets smelled really great and the room was perfectly prepared. Knowing that we have two hours of free time, I filled the bathtub and soaked like a king, the water was perfectly warm and all the elements of a well- supplied bathroom was present. Yay! The hotel didn't serve breakfast so we have to meet at a nearby restaurant or order a special from their canteen. However, wine was readily available at their wine room? So, if you happen to visit Finland on a business or to do research, Hotel Scandic would be a perfect abode for a few nights. I felt it made stepping through presentation material more natural and appealing, since it sort of blended into the décor. The on-site catered lunch was excellent -- it was a salad lunch with many options like garden, greek, salmon, and caesar. The smoked salmon salad was particularly tasty. Standard coffee, tea, water etc. that you'd expect from such a facility. All in all, an exceptional experience and I highly recommend Glo Kluuvi as a business venue. Honestly nothing critical to say -- it was an excellent visit and I hope to return!

The first visit was a three star visit, due to the lack of air conditioning (not mentioned by woman at the front desk when we checked in) and the very tiny room with the phone booth-sized shower. When I called to the front desk to ask how to turn on the air conditioning in the room, she simply said, "Sorry, it's not working at this time." She did not offer a fan, so we just opened the window. Unfortunately, it was quite warm all night, so we did not sleep well. The next morning, I chatted with the very friendly manager at the front desk and he was appalled that a fan was not offered. He said they have a "whole room of fans" for guests to use. I told him that we would be coming back for one more night at the end of our Finland trip and asked if he would note our file to offer a fan if the air conditioning was still inoperable at that time. He said he would do that for us. Fast forward to our second visit to this hotel. We were delighted to have been given a free upgrade to an Executive room. There was a fan already set up in the room (the AC was still not working very well). The room itself was huge, with a large bathroom and shower, a separate sitting area with a makeup mirror, as well as a free chocolate bar and two free cookies. Very nice! We were also given two free water bottles at the front desk (I'm at IHG member), which we weren't given on our first stay. I would definitely recommend paying extra for the breakfast! It begins at 5:00 am, in case you have an early flight. This was my favorite hotel breakfast on the trip. There were so many wonderful things, such as the Karelian pastries and egg butter (a delicacy in Finland), a wonderful berry coffee cake, and many hot items. Everything was delicious! The staff working at breakfast hours were very friendly and welcoming as well. One other nice feature of this hotel is the free airport shuttle. The pickup spot at the airport is bus stop #42. The shuttle arrives every 20 - 30 minutes and services the Holiday Inn and two Scandic hotels. The shuttle service from the hotels to the airport starts very early in the morning and was very convenient. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The staff was friendly (some speak Swedish) and the checking in/out was easy. WIfi is free and fast. A few kinks though - There was a distinct sewer odour in the clean bathroom. The waste bin in the kitchenette had apparently not been emptied so after a few days the smell was pretty awful when we opened it to throw trash. The table chairs with red fabric covers had seen better and cleaner days. I would suggest changing them for wood or plastic chairs that are much easier to keep clean. Apart from that, a great, good value for money place to set base and explore the beautiful city of Helsinki from.

Our private lounge was smallish and crowded and the tables and chairs were arranged in groups just as in a restaurant. I had expected a comfortable lounge chair- maybe like a business class airline seat but these chairs were like cafeteria chairs. There were some complimentary snacks but pretty ordinary: crackers, tea and coffee, veggies with a dip for more healthful fare. That was about it. None of it tempted me for a second. As for the prospect of sitting in the cafeteria-style chairs for two hours, I eventually abandoned this lounge and found a more comfortable location in another part of the ship. Skip Comfort Class is my advice.

The ship was spacious and had plenty of space to hold all the passengers. There were lounges and plenty of seating. They had a cafeteria, Burger King, and duty free shopping. They also had a supermarket where you could buy items in bulk. The most popular items were crates of beer and alcohol. Cars and trucks could drive onto the ferry/ship too so if any of you rent a car-- I'm sure you can easily take this to expand your itinerary. You can book your ticket online and then check in. Upon checkin, they'll check your passport. You board the ship about 30-45 minutes before departure. It took us approximately 2 hours to get from one port to the next.

We were having a few bumps in travel and got into Helsinki in the middle of the night. Our existing reservation said 24-hour front desk but... guess what? Didn't have one. Fortunately, I'd seen Radisson Blu on an app I used and so I called them up to make sure they did indeed have a 24-hour front desk. An hour later, our rental car was parked in their free parking lot and my sleeping 10-year-old and I were safe and sound, cozy and warm on a blustery snowy March night. Now, that said... this place is great and has beautiful views of waterways that come in from the Gulf of Finland. It's a little out-of-the-way from the main downtown but we really loved it. They had an amazing and clean sauna, a small but warm(ish) indoor pool, a delicious buffet breakfast with excellent coffee (included with our reservation but surcharge otherwise), and some fun foosball in the lobby. We used it as a base as it was closer to our friend's house in Espoo and we decided to stay more than that blustery first night because the front desk staff was so friendly and amazing!!! We'd stay here again if in Helsinki! Might see ya there!
