This TOUR is misleading and unprofessional. The who Dunn it scavenger hunt description does NOT…read morestate it is a walking TOUR, and eludes to visiting popular destinations while solving the murder. Also says it's wheelchair accessable- it's the sidewalk where people and bars are! No food or drinks are served on the tour? It's a WALKING TOUR PASSING BARS & FOOD PLACES, WAIT!! It is not a TOUR either? No one's takes you on a TOUR, no one follows you in this "tour". 2nd- There is a satchel bag to carry around with a clipboard and papers on it with addresses to buildings to walk to, the texts I will upload says" They had 4 satchels ready (4 people in group) YET Leila only gave the group 1 to I Guess share which made it impossible to work as a team to solve anything, as well as you MUST have your cell phone to put answers in to get the next Clue" which just told you what building is next! Dumb and there is nothing collected at each stop as a scavenger hunt should have! 3rd- Leila sent rude and ignorant texts to her boss- and me showing how she was referring to my family and never apologized- which is again unprofessional and disrespectful, and made resist comments like "those people" and are 90% Criminal in her opinion!! I responded to her uneducated opinion, and her boss should have as well. 4- The Pub they promote was horrible and had not even brought our drinks after 30 min, the security guard was a dick and lied about us " Stiffing" the pub when the waiter told us we were good canceling our order since we didn't eat anything or drink anything to need to pay for!!! Leila decided to then send that unfactual info to her boss text attached, and made her rude comments. 5- This is a nightmare and if our group had been given the proper tools (1 satchel for each player to follow & participate with, maybe would not have been impossible to navigate. Our family have done several escape rooms, ghost tours, and Love it- This should have been refunded for the way they handled us and for not giving us proper information or the props/satchels to have a good experience. Also disclose it's walking like they do in the other tour.

At first I thought we would have to do the same tour, that was not the case. There are several different ones to keep it interesting. We had such a blast seeing all the sights in the Gaslamp. I did not know San Diego had so many rooftop bars such as Altitude, Andaz, and Hotel Solamar. The most amazing views was from Altitude overlooking both Petco Park and the Coronado Bridge. The architect throughout the Gaslamp was also quite unique with names, signs and paintings I have never noticed before. In addition, we were able to go into establishments we otherwise would not have gone into as well as spoke to strangers in the streets to help us gain points. What I liked the most about this scavenger hunt is each team had a guide to keep them on task and time. If you showed up late as the designated end location you were disqualified. What team spirit and camaraderie. I want to thank Mark our amazing tour guide and of course Darlynne. I'm already planning my 2016 adventure.

Perfect to be on a mountain top in the sunshine sifting through rocks and hunting for gems. The Oceanview mine works in finding a number of different quartz, Tourmoline, and other gems. Take a look at their website. For $75 for an adult, you get all the equipment that you need to sift through rock and gravel piles which they set out for you. There are a big tables, the two grades of sorters, a bucket, trowel, and toothbrush to clean off rocks. Also a big tray of water to rinse your rocks in and clean them off. There were igneous rocks with black tourmaline and tiny pieces of garnet. It was a lot of fun. You have to get there promptly at the opening time in order to get situated and the digging/sorting/sifting begins sharp at 10 AM. You have three hours and 45 minutes to go through all the rocks that you want. Bring your own gloves! They also have shaded umbrellas, and 5 gallon buckets to purchase that you can load up with rocks to sift through on your own at home. While it was a fun adventure, and I've never been to a quarry mine that you could actually look for your own gems, the staff did leave a little to training, although they were very good about going around and assisting you. However, I think if you really want to find something, you need to educate yourself ahead of time as to what you are looking for and what is available. Five minute presentation to 50 people wouldn't you can't even really look at the rocks and no handout or guide sheet for reference was a drawback. They don't take credit cards for the entrance. You have to pay cash. Children are a lower price. But they do take credit cards for memorabilia, gemstones that they have turned into jewelry and other items. And also for the rentals. I thought the purchasing of a 5 gallon bucket for $10 was too much. They don't make it clear that if you want to take home a 5 gallon bucket of extra stones to sort through then you can bring your own. I thought for the price of $75 a 5 gallon bucket would be included. They are not. There are picnic tables in the shade where you can have your own lunch, there is a grill you can use if you want to utilize that. Bring all of your own beverages, water, and snacks and meal. There is a short tour that you can take of the areas that they mine on this mountain. You load up on a four wheel vehicle that holds six people and spin around the mountainside, stopping at the entrance of three of the mine shafts. This is only about a 5 to 7 minute tour. They don't allow you to stop get out and take pictures in front of the mine openings. This was certainly a drawback. They could've extended the "tour" to let you get out and take pictures in front of the mine shafts. Perhaps it is a liability issue I don't know. I would not do this for a second time since I've already done it, without further educating myself about gem hunting and what exactly I was looking for. But for a one time adventure, it was fun and we had a beautiful spring day. Don't forget your sunblock and sunglasses and hat!

The drive up to the Pala Chief dig site was not too difficult. Our tesla with a low suspension could do it. The tutorial from the staff was quick, and the 4 hour dig time was definitely enough. By the end it got really hot; so definitely bring a hat and a lot of water. It had rained a couple days before, so we found a bunch of tourmalines on the surface. My best find was a 50 gram blue cap pink tourmaline that I found near the top of the mountain. Found a bunch of pinks, some greens, some blue ones, and a bunch of large quartz pieces.

Also the game sends you to the Science Center and then the Car Museum, which isn't convenient. Maybe a kids' length one would work. It was fun and def different. I got the two for one on one of the discount websites. I def wouldn't have paid more ($12). A few of the questions are no longer valid as stuff has changed and it seems like we walked back and forth a lot. I let the management know. In the mean time, I just think there should be something else going on with this tour, especially with stops at certain restaurants/bars. We made it a point to stop for a drink or shot at each, but perhaps they could talk to owners of the venues you are in front of reading signs on and work out a discount if you tell them you're on a StrayBoots tour...just an idea...maybe a discount in the clue or something.
