If you haven't tried getting a motorbike taxi from Charles De Gaulle airport into Paris then maybe you should.
Its a wild ride around the peripherique during rush hour.
I've frequently used Citybird to get from CDG over to Porte d'orleans and it has saved me countless missed flights. I used to regularly miss flights home due to the Parisian traffic, but once I started using Citybird I never missed any flights. It used to take up to 1 1/2 hours to get from the office in Pt. d'Orleans to CDG, but with Citybird it would take 40 minutes at the most.
They turn up with a two seater oversized scooter (A Bergman 650 usually) which has enough room for you and the rider, and a couple of small bags. They provide a zip up wet weather suit, if needed, and a helmet and gloves. The helmet has a built in intercom, so you can talk to the rider as you zip accross Paris.
Its a great experience in summer, especially if you ask for a scenic route along the Seine on your way to the office. Even in wet weather its still well worth it, as your suit is still dry as a bone when you get there, with the wet weather gear keeping the rain off your back very well.
The second time I used there service the rider spoke little english, but managed to say 'Do you want to go fast or faster'... priceless. I chose faster and we got to Pt. d'Orleans in about 30 minutes via a scenic route.
I'd recommend Citybird to anyone travelling alone in Paris without too much luggage (a medium sized weekend bag and a laptop is about as much as you can take). read more
