You Just Been Licked, CUHH!!…read more OKAY, so I've been watching wayyyy tooo much Lizard Lick Towing on cable. For some reason this town makes me feel old fashioned and going to the lick (liquor store) isn't like how you would be in the city. In these parts you'll find "regular booze" only @ liquor stores. Let me explain, we unknowingly purchased a pack of beer at the nearest Wal-Mart in La Junta. The only downfall is that if it ain't from a liquor store, it'll be a watered down version of your brew. For example, instead of 6% alcohol content, it'll be 2.5 or 3%. SMH The fine folks here at Cork Brothers do a great job of spreading the joy. The place is simply equipped with booze. There aren't any snack isles here. It's a no bullshit type place where you can grab some cold brews or cruise through their other selections of bottled wines and spirits. The only other products they have would be the stuff you'd get behind the counter like lighters, smokes, and such. The prices are descent and the service has been good. Although you might get the occasional attitude, but that's alright! As you can imagine, we stop by on a regular bases to grab a pack or a 40 oz. I've also purchased some fruity frozen stuff as well for 2 bucks. The only other thing I want to try is the flavored moonshine they sell in mason jars. Depending on the flavor they have fruit floating in the mix for that "awww shux" feel. I'd like to think they're super infused and yummy as well! At nearly $20 a jar and with a good 100 proof, I'll be back to give em a go. We'll be back again & again & again!!!

Visited with my wife on an overnight roadie and convenient pre-Valentine's Day meal. Steaks (mine = KC Strip, hers = sirloin) were expertly prepared medium-rare (really, how else should a good steak be done?) and very tasty. We shared a wedge salad which was delivered "disassembled" in a DIY set up. Steaks included mashed or loaded baked potato with bacon, cheese, sour cream, butter. A side of garlic-roasted brussels sprouts with bacon rounded out the meal. Wine selections are limited but by the glass around $10 for a decent Pinot Noir was good by me. Only one server this Tuesday night and she had a table of 10, two tables of 2, and one solo diner yet was running to keep up. Food came out less warm than ideal. And the delish bacon for the Brussels sprouts was served under the sprouts - didn't find it until the end. Decor is "upscale hotel conference room" style but pleasant Overall, a good spot for a great steak.
