My husband and I had our cocktail hour and wedding reception at the Boathouse at the Knowlton. I…read morecannot express how absolutely amazing this venue is. It will WOW your guest in more ways than one and it was a STUNNING place to take pictures! I should start off by saying Shiran and Sandy are a DREAM TEAM. They helped me from start to finish a year in advance with my wedding through me panicking and wanting to see the venue about 1,000 times for my "vision". They were always happy to give advice and to open up the doors for me! The day before we were let in to drop some things off which was great so we didn't have to worry the day of. Most venues don't allow that so I am so happy they did. There is ample parking and the space is new and beautiful. Shiran did a GREAT job with the lighting (such a talented jack of all trades). Do not hesitate to book this place... it was our favorite part of our wedding and our guests too! Open and airy (we were able to keep the huge doors open to the deck on the river). We can't recommend it enough! P.S. It was amazing to see all of our friends change their profile pictures to them in front of all of the murals at the venue!

Great art everywhere! This place is perfect for small and large parties, photoshoots, artists who want community, and anything creative you've got going on.

In the few times I've visited, I've seen everything from photography and sculptures created by students to real Warhol and Picasso paintings. The location is easily accessible in downtown Bridgeport with plenty of parking in the garage and the train station just a few blocks away.

The roads and campus were really quiet on Saturday, and parking seemed to be available in their parking garage for visitors. Whether there were visitor designated spots, I wasn't 100% clear so I pulled into the first available spot. The museum is located in Lafayette Hall and while there was a security guard located in the general area, there doesn't seem to be an employee on the weekend to provide information or answer questions on the art. The signage was not the most comprehensive I've seen, and it was very small (two rooms that seem to be for rotating exhibits, a hallway exhibit on Little Liberia, and other older pieces on the second floor). On the other hand, it was also free. The art was beautiful, the Little Liberia exhibit very interesting, and it must be great for students who will be on campus already to be able to enjoy the works of art. As a visitor, particularly on the weekends, you may want to note this will be a quick stop and have plans for the remainder of the day.

The wine flight did not disappoint -- we tried the red, white & a combination, all solid pours. The cheese box is necessary if you're trying the flight ( or you can bring your own food). Highly recommend booking an igloo and making a night of it!

Aquila's gives a 30-minute grace period, which helped since the area gets very dark at night and the roads are narrow. I knew ahead of time there would be a lobster food truck and a live salsa band. When you arrive, you check in with the hostess, though there's no clear hostess stand since she's stationed at the end of the bar. The inside was crowded with no available seats, but we weren't there for the band anyway. Our igloo had a heater, but two would've been ideal. They recommend bringing a blanket, which I forgot, but it wasn't too cold--around the high 40s. We tried the "Sweet Wine Flight," which included Sparkling Rosé, Moscato, and white and red wine slushies. The white wine slushy was my favorite. It started raining while we were there, and everyone with fire pits cleared out, so I was extra glad we chose an igloo. They offered a cheese box, but it looked too small, so we stuck to drinks. Our server was polite and brought everything out quickly. Reservations give you two hours, and we had a great time. I like the variety of reservation options they offer. For suggestions: it would be nice to have a real charcuterie board instead of tiny cheese and veggie boxes. The indoor space could also be larger, especially for people coming for the live band, and there are no seats around the bar. Overall, though, it's a cozy spot, and I enjoyed the experience.
