They had a managers happy hour in the evening and the normal HI breakfast in the lobby. The rooms had flat screen TV and the beds very comfortable. One thing I really liked was that even though they were pretty full it was VERY quiet!!! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that it's not a high end hotel/resort but my rating was a 4+. I really liked this property much better than the Double Tree (outdated). Bottom line is its a nice property and you won't be disappointed.

The hotel itself still feels & smells new, so no complaints at all with the condition of the hotel. My only disappointment is the breakfast situation. Why on earth is breakfast not included? It's a very nice non-continental breakfast, with hot food and drinks, but I just find it a little odd that they don't find a way to build this into the price, since practically everyone who stays here has breakfast here too.

Hotel Huizache has lots or rustic charm as it offers many bungalow type rooms in a variety of sizes. They have an open parking area and lots of spaces either close to or if you are lucky right next to your room. We happened to stay in a room with a living area with kitchenette table, sofa and kitchen stocked with microwave, medium sized fridge and a small stove with oven. We had a living area and lots of space. The cleaning service is exceptional here. They will change your sheets daily unless you ask them not too and even then they will attempt to change your sheets. They sweep and mop room daily and clean bathrooms every day. We stayed 7 days. So this was amazing to me. I typically let housekeeping know that we don't need sheets changed regularly(I do not change my sheets at home daily so I don't expect it every day). If you have a vehicle I recommend this place as downtown Saltillo is about 8 minute drive from here. The hotel is located by a main thoroughfare that will close for an event similar to Ciclovia on Sundays. The main gate to enter is closed, but fortunately they do have another exit and you can leave hotel early on a Sunday if you want to avoid traffic. There are several restaurants and pharmacies walking distance from the hotel. They do offer a free small morning continental breakfast of coffee, milk, a tang orange drink with fruit, pastries and cereal. They also have air conditioning called mini splits. These are ideal as you control them with a remote and it's easy for you to decide how cool you want your room. Saltillo is known for being a colder place as it's high up mountain area, but it has become warmer in the summer and sees some hot days for those of us used to having an air conditioning unit. They have washer and dryers located near pool. Warning laundry room machines can take up to 2 hrs for a large load, I do not recommend large loads. If you have to then plan for time to be able to monitor your items. Note I put my clothes in at 7pm the washer still didn't finish at 9:30. If you love to swim the pool is beautiful and ample. During the week the place is quiet and not as packed but as the weekend nears it does get full, especially with larger families. I booked online on short notice and was able to ask for an extra day with no problem. I would definitely stay here again. This hotel is safe, clean, and staff is friendly.

During this stay I found a pill on the drawer ledge, killed a cockroach in the bathroom, and found a suspicious "stain" on the bed runner (eewwwww). I've given this property a couple of chances, not sure if I will next time.

Rooms are clean but you can see signs of being old: old towels, old carpet but clean, old furniture with no power outlets close to the bed. Tub is gone... But...breakfast is awesome. I recently stayed there for three nights and enjoyed my stay. The location is right on a major avenue a short walk to an OXXO and a short drive to numerous restaurants. As you enter the grounds past the security gate, there are several rows of one story buildings which house the rooms. Plenty of parking and direct access to your room. I appreciated the beautiful landscaping and gardens. The buildings are rather dated, more like what we used to call a motor inn, but are clean, simply but tastefully decorated. There was an ironing board and full sized iron in the closet along with a room safe. Two complimentary bottles of water are provided each day. Free WiFi and cable TV on a flat-screen are also provided. The beds and linens were very nice. I slept very well. No street noise. The AC worked and cooled the room, but I think it is rigged to not cool any more than to 20 degrees Celcius. When I first entered it was hot, so I set it to 16 degrees and never changed it. It never got any cooler than 20. Both the shower and the sink have hot and cold water and decent pressure. The towels were good sized, nice and thick. The sink area is separate from the toilet / shower room. A full hot buffet breakfast is included in the price (just over $50 US dollars). Breakfast included coffee, fruit, cereal, juice, eggs, beans, chilaquiles, gorditas, and a couple of other hot dishes. You get a breakfast ticket each day to present in exchange for your breakfast. If you can't handle spicy, go light on the salsa! It definitely has a bite! There are servers to attend you as you dine in the air conditioned enclosed palapa by the pool and behind the Wings restaurant which is next to the hotel reception building. As you eat you can enjoy the TVs or look out the picture window over the garden area. I have stayed in fancier hotels, but for the price you can't beat Misión Express.
