I've been banking at Santander in Mashpee for years. Although Santander is not a very good bank…read more(poor interest rates, sparse services) the excellent staff there made the experience worthwhile. But back in 2024 there was a changing of the guard. What had been excellent staff was replaced with indifferent rude children trying to do an adult job. Rudeness and indifference is their currency. This past Thursday Santander's online bill pay went down. I called the Mashpee branch to see what the problem was. The rude Santander employee told me there was nothing wrong. Strange that it wouldn't work for me. When I asked who I could contact about it she told me to call the number on the back of the Santander card and hung up. Rude. Indifferent. I called that number....and what a mistake that was. as Santander customer service is in the Third World. As the limited English skills of the CSR made this a pointless call I hung up after a few minutes of wasted time. I then called the Sandwich Santander branch to see what the problem was (twice I'd been told there was no problem, once in broken English!). The polite Santander employee there told me that there had been problems all day. Strange that they knew about it but Mashpee didn't. Or was it just that Mashpee didn't care about the consequences for their customers. I'd say the latter. Five days later on Monday the Santander online banking is even worse. Santander is an awful bank that offers very little to it's customers, and when there are serious problems they deny them at the Mashpee branch. Before the rude trolls replaced the bankers at the Mashpee Santander I was willing to overlook Santander's many negatives. Now that a rude childish staff has taken over the Mashpee Santander I am seeking a new bank......quickly. I have bills to pay and can't do so through Santander. And expecting anything approaching help or guidance from the Mashpee Santander is like asking a belligerent drunk for directions. You might get an answer, but it will never be a credible one. Avoid Santander as there are many other banks out there that are reputable. Santander is a failing bank, both in Europe and in North America. But if you must bank with Santander avoid the Mashpee branch at all costs. All you will find there is rudeness, indifference and apathy. If it were possible to give trolls at the Mashpee Santander zero stars I would have, as that is exactly what they have earned.

I also asked if there was someone else I could talk to and she told me there was no one, which I still do not believe. she was incredibly dismissive and seemed like she just wanted to get off the phone as soon as possible, and was honestly out of touch. I called back the next day because I was told they could not dispute the charge. I was told the charge had never gone through and had been reversed, making canceling my card completely unneeded. this was the third lady I had talked to and she was super nice and apologetic. I still have no idea how I will get to work in the mean time, and I am so happy I do not have anything else I would desperately need the card for. I was already considering switching banks because I had issues with cape cod five before over other things, but this completely solidified it. I am a broke college student who is only surrounded by broke college students who I can't just borrow from as the employee suggested.

Borrowers beware. I received a telephone message that the bank needed information regarding a loan…read moreI had applied for. They left only first names and the general call back number. I had not applied for a loan and feared fraud. I called their general number and finally got through to someone after hours that they were calling the wrong person. Next day I received two more calls asking for information. This time they identified that they were calling from a Yarmouth branch but only left first names to reply to and only left the general number again - not a number where you could call and get an actual person. Very concerned about fraud, I called the only branch that I had a direct number for and requested to speak with the fraud department. I'm thinking that someone is trying to apply for a loan with my identity. Finally I received a call back that someone with my same first and last name - but NOT my middle initial, social security number, or phone number or email - had applied for a loan. Whoopsie they made a mistake and 'that's why we haven't gotten the information we needed.' Well, it is all about them isn't it!? Seriously what kind of information are they asking for on a loan application and why aren't they checking it? If it's that loose, beware of your identity and go to another institution.
